  • In this paper, the circuit of AC Choppers for $CO_2$laser Power Supply are proposed and investigated. IGBT-controlled ac voltage regulators, operating at high frequency chopping mode. Chopping-to-supply duty ratio plays an important role in terms of laser output. Laser input energy is varied by controlling the leakage transfomer used with the proposed system. This improved circuit employs a 3 electrode-type and Ring Blower. This improved circuit system has many advantages compared with the conventional SMPS such as simple design requirment, easy implementation, high reliability, low switching loss, and consequently high efficiency. As a result, the maximun output was 16W at duty-ratio of 92%, total gas mixture of $CO_2$: $N_2$: He = 1 : 9 : 15, total pressure of 15torr.

  • Pulsed Nd:YAC laser is used widely for materials processing and instrumentation. It is very important to control the laser energy density in materials processing by a pulsed Nd:YAG laser. A pulse repetition rate and a pulse width are regarded as the most dominant factors to control the energy density of laser beam. In this study, the alternating charge-discharge system was designed to adjust a pulse repetition rate. This system is controlled by one chip microprocessor and allows to replace an expensive condenser for high frequency to a cheap condenser for low frequency. In addition. we have investigated the current pulse shape of flashlamp and the operating characteristics of a pulsed Nd:YAG laser. As a result, it is found that the laser output of the power supply using the alternating charge-discharge system is not less than that of typical power supply. As the pulse repetition rate rises from 30pps to 120pps by the step of 30pps at 1200V, it is found that the laser efficiency decreases but the laser output power increases about 6W at each step.

  • 본 논문에서는 온도나 습도 등 주변 환경변화와 무관하게 항상 최적의 레이저 프리터의 출력특성을 유지하기 위한 OPC(Organic Photo Conductor)용 고압 전류형 전원특성에 관한 논문이다. 제안된 제어방식은 기존의 정전압 제어방식이 가지는 단점인 온도나 습도 및 OPC의 분포저항 변화에 따른 출력전류 변동으로 OPC 표면에 일정한 전위를 형성하는 것이 용이하지 않은 단점을 개선하고, 주변환경 변화요인을 프린터 주제어기에서 감지하여 최적의 출력전류 기준신호를 출력하고, 이 기준신호에 따라 최종 출력전류가 제어되어 일정한 화상상태가 유지되도록 제어하는 제어방식으로 실험을 통하여 제안된 제어방식의 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • In this study, it is the purpose to develope a cheap and compact pulsed $CO_2$ laser with pulse repetition rate range of 1 kHz. We used a IGBT switched power supply as a power supply, which is cheap and simple comparing to others. PIC one-chip microprocessor was used for precise control of a laser power supply on the control part. And the laser cavity was fabricated as an axial and water cooled type. The laser performance characteristics as various parameters, such as pulse repetition rate gas pressure, and gas mixture rate have been investigated. The experiment was done under the condition of total pressure of $CO_2:N_2$:He = 1.3:10, 1:1.5:5 1:9:15 from 6 Torr to 15 Torr and pulse repetition rate from 100 Hz to 900 Hz. As a result, the maximum average output was about 20.5 W at the total pressure of 15 Torr, the gas mixture $CO_2:N_2$:He = 1:9:15 and the pulse repetition rate of 700 Hz.

  • During the last two decades the laser beam has progressed from a sophisticated laboratory apparatus to an adaptable and viable industrial tool. Especially, in its welding mode, the laser offers high travel speed, low distortion, and narrow fusion and heat-affected zones (HAZ). The principal obstacle to selection of a laser processing method in production is its relatively high equipment cost and the natural unwillingness of production supervision to try something new until it is thoroughly proven. The major objective of this work is focused on the combined features of gas tungsten arc and a low-power cold laser beam. Although high-power laser beams have been combined with the plasma from a gas tungsten arc (GTA) torch for use in welding as early as 1980, recent work at the Ohio State University has employed a low power laser beam to initiate, direct, and concentrate a gas tungsten arcs. In this work, the laser beam from a 7 watts carbon monoxide laser was combined with electrical discharges from a short-pulsed capacitive discharge GTA welding power supply. When the low power CO laser beam passes through a special composition shielding gas, the CO molecules in the gas absorbs the radiation, and ionizes through a process known as non-equilibrium, vibration-vibration pumping. The resulting laser-induced plasma (LIP) was positioned between various configurations of electrodes. The high-voltage impulse applied to the electrodes forced rapid electrical breakdown between the electrodes. Electrical discharges between tungsten electrodes and aluminum sheet specimens followed the ionized path provided by LIP. The result was well focused melted spots.

  • This paper is mainly concerned with the state of the practical developments of a constants PWM bridge type resonants DC-DC suitable converter for Nd:YAG Laser with a Microprocessor. (PIC16C54 & 8051) The use of IGBT power supply with feedback control of flashLamp currents imparts a advantages to Nd:YAG Laser for materials processing. these include the alility to tailor the pulseshape and modify pulse parameters on a pulse- by pulse basis. And Correct choice of pulseshape can enhance the repeatability of the process. as higher power IGBT became available, act ive pulseforming power supplies will find greater user in deep hole drilling machine By Using certain control tecniques, utililized in designing Pic16c54 from Microchip technology and Intel 8051, also Mornitoring from Microsoft Visual Basic 5, And it allowed us to designed and fabricate ahigh repel it ion rate and high power(HRHP) pulsed Nd:YAG laser system, As a result of that, the current pulsewidth could be contort led 200s to 350s(step 50s) , and the pulse repetition rate could be adjusted 500pps to 1150pps. In addition, in the case of one laser head consisting of a Nd:YAG laser rod and two flashlamps , the maximum laser output of 240w was produced at the condition of 350s and 1150pps, and that of about 480w was generated at the same condition when two laser heads were arranged in cascade.

피부과용 $CO_2$레이저시스템의 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of Dermatology $CO_2$ Laser System)

  • 최근에 $CO_2$의료용 레이저의 이용이 증가함에 따라 레이저출력의 안정도, 유지와보수의 편리성, 소형화, 저가격화 등이 요구되고 있으며, 이러한 특성을 충족시키기 위해서본 연구에서는 실험실에서 직접 설계ㆍ제작할 수 있는 저속 축류형의 구조를 채택하였다. 그리고 펄스 발생 장치는 SMPS방식, 스위칭 소자는 수십KHz의 스위칭에 적합한 IGBT를 사용하였고 커패시터에 충전된 에너지를 고압ㆍ고주파 펄스 변압기를 사용하여 고압펄스로 변환 후 방전관에 인가하였다. 레이저 출력은 일정한 펄스폭에서 펄스반복율을 변화시킴으로서 제어가 가능하도록 하였다. 반복율은 10Hz~1KHz까지 가변할 수 있도록 설계하였고 최대펄스 전압은 약 20㎸였다. 실험결과 기존의 출력보다 최대 3% 향상을 얻을 수가 있었고. 최대출력은 동작압력 18 Torr에서 23w를 얻었다. 또한, 90˚에서 SCR를 점호하였고 펄스반복률은 60Hz조건에서 한개의 펄스파형을 포착하여 펄스폭(FWHM:Full Width at Half Maxium)을 측정한 결과 약 3㎳을 얻을 수가 있었다.

The PL Characteristics of ZnO Thin Film on Flexible Polymer by Pulse Laser Deposition

  • In this study, ZnO films have been grown on PES (polyethersulfone) of flexible polymer substrate by PLD (pulsed laser deposition) and characterized for crystalline and optical properties. Growing conditions were changed with substrate temperatures ranging from 50 to $200^{\circ}C$ and laser power density ranging from 0.2 to $0.4J/cm^2$. When ZnO thin films are deposited at low temperature with a small laser power density, the (002) peaks of XRD to signify the crystal quality of ZnO thin films appear to be very weak and the (101) peaks to signify the chemical composition of oxygen and zinc are strong. The (002) peaks increase with the substrate temperature and laser power density because the energy needed for the supply of the combination regarding zinc and oxygen has increased. In this study, the best condition for growing ZnO thin film on PES is at a substrate temperature of $200^{\circ}C$ and with a laser density of $0.3J/cm^2$. The characteristics of PL were measured by UV and green luminescence.

의료기기용 고속 고출력 레이저 다이오드 드라이버 개발 (A Study On the High Speed High Power LD Driver for Medical Application)

  • 본 논문은 고속 고출력 레이저 다이오드(Laser Diode: LD) 구동에 사용되는 펄스형 전원장치의 개발에 관하여 논 하였다. 고속 고출력 레이저는 주로 가공기기나 의료기기 등에 응용되고 있어 그 사용 범위가 넓어지는 추세이나 관련된 기술에 대한 연구는 활발히 이루어지지 않은 편이다. 본 연구에서는 고속 고출력 LD의 구동에 적합한 LLC컨버터에 관한 연구를 수행 하였으며 특히 LD의 수명을 고려하여 구동 전류의 주파수를 유지하며 인가되는 전류의 크기를 임계전류를 고려한 방식으로 설계하여 드라이버 설계를 수행하였으며 그 결과를 실험을 통하여 확인하였다.

  • We have designed the power supply of an 120W $CO_2$ Laser for non-metal material processings. High voltage is automatically controlled by means of thyristor triggered phase control. Pulse and C.W. mode are selectively generated by means of discharge current control. It is possible to interface this system with other Numerical Controller. Also, safety interlock circuit is incorporated in this system.
