The study presents a new hybrid data-driven method by combining radial basis functions neural networks (RBF-NN) with the Jaya algorithm (JA) to provide effective structural health monitoring of arch dams. The novelty of this approach lies in that only one user-defined parameter is required and thus can increase its effectiveness and efficiency, as compared to other machine learning techniques that often require processing a large amount of training and testing model parameters and hyper-parameters, with high time-consuming. This approach seeks rapid damage detection in arch dams under dynamic conditions, to prevent potential disasters, by utilizing the RBF-NNN to seamlessly integrate the dynamic elastic modulus (DEM) and modal parameters (such as natural frequency and mode shape) as damage indicators. To determine the dynamic characteristics of the arch dam, the JA sequentially optimizes an objective function rooted in vibration-based data sets. Two case studies of hyperbolic concrete arch dams were carefully designed using finite element simulation to demonstrate the effectiveness of the RBF-NN model, in conjunction with the Jaya algorithm. The testing results demonstrated that the proposed methods could exhibit significant computational time-savings, while effectively detecting damage in arch dam structures with complex nonlinearities. Furthermore, despite training data contaminated with a high level of noise, the RBF-NN and JA fusion remained the robustness, with high accuracy.

Recently, traffic congestion in the city is continuously increasing due to the expansion of the living area centered in the metropolitan area and the concentration of population in large cities. New road construction has become impossible due to the increase in land prices in downtown areas and limited sites, and the importance of efficient data-based road operation is increasingly emerging. For efficient road operation, it is essential to classify appropriate scenarios according to changes in traffic conditions and to operate optimal signals for each scenario. In this study, the Dynamic Time Warping model for cluster analysis of time series data was applied to traffic volume and speed data collected at continuous intersections for optimal scenario classification. We propose a methodology for composing an optimal signal operation scenario by analyzing the characteristics of the scenarios for each data used for classification.

In large-scale computing, cloud computing plays an important role by sharing globally-distributed resources. The evolution of cloud has taken place in the development of data centers and numerous servers across the globe. But the cloud information centers incur huge operational costs, consume high electricity and emit tons of dioxides. It is possible for the cloud suppliers to leverage their resources and decrease the consumption of energy through various methods such as dynamic consolidation of Virtual Machines (VMs), by keeping idle nodes in sleep mode and mistreatment of live migration. But the performance may get affected in case of harsh consolidation of VMs. So, it is a desired trait to have associate degree energy-performance exchange without compromising the quality of service while at the same time reducing the power consumption. This research article details a number of novel algorithms that dynamically consolidate the VMs in cloud information centers. The primary objective of the study is to leverage the computing resources to its best and reduce the energy consumption way behind the Service Level Agreement (SLA)drawbacks relevant to CPU load, RAM capacity and information measure. The proposed VM consolidation Algorithm (PVMCA) is contained of four algorithms: over loaded host detection algorithm, VM selection algorithm, VM placement algorithm, and under loading host detection algorithm. PVMCA is dynamic because it uses dynamic thresholds instead of static thresholds values, which makes it suggestion for real, unpredictable workloads common in cloud data centers. Also, the Algorithms are adaptive because it inevitably adjusts its behavior based on the studies of historical data of host resource utilization for any application with diverse workload patterns. Finally, the proposed algorithm is online because the algorithms are achieved run time and make an action in response to each request. The proposed algorithms' efficiency was validated through different simulations of extensive nature. The output analysis depicts the projected algorithms scaled back the energy consumption up to some considerable level besides ensuring proper SLA. On the basis of the project algorithms, the energy consumption got reduced by 22% while there was an improvement observed in SLA up to 80% compared to other benchmark algorithms.
Multi-temporal data have been used frequently for analyzing dynamic characteristics of ecological environment. Little research, however, shows the characteristics and problems of the analysis of continental- or global-scale, multi-temporal satellite data. This research investigated the characteristics of large-area, multi-temporal data analysis and the problems of phenological difference of ground vegetation and scarcity of training data for a long term period. This research suggested a latitudinal image segmentation method and an invariant pixel method. As an application, the image segmentation and invariant pixel methods were applied to a set of AVHRR data covering most part of Asia from 1982 to 1993. Fuzzy classification results showed the decrease of forests and the increase of croplands at densely populated areas, however an opposite trend was detected at sparsely populated or depopulated areas.

Steel-concrete composite box girder bridges are widely used in the construction of highway and railway bridges both domestically and abroad due to their advantages of being light weight and having a large spanning ability and very large torsional rigidity. Composite box girder bridges exhibit the effects of shear lag, restrained torsion, distortion and interface bidirectional slip under various loads during operation. As one of the most commonly used calculation tools in bridge engineering analysis, one-dimensional models offer the advantages of high calculation efficiency and strong stability. Currently, research on the one-dimensional model of composite beams mainly focuses on simulating interface longitudinal slip and the shear lag effect. There are relatively few studies on the one-dimensional model which can consider the effects of restrained torsion, distortion and interface transverse slip. Additionally, there are few studies on vehicle-bridge integrated systems where a one-dimensional model is used as a tool that only considers the calculations of natural frequency, mode and moving load conditions to study the dynamic response of composite beams. Some scholars have established a dynamic analysis model of a coupled composite beam bridge-train system, but where the composite beam is only simulated using a Euler beam or Timoshenko beam. As a result, it is impossible to comprehensively consider multiple complex force effects, such as shear lag, restrained torsion, distortion and interface bidirectional slip of composite beams. In this paper, a 27 DOF vehicle rigid body model is used to simulate train operation. A two-node 26 DOF finite beam element with composed box beams considering the effects of shear lag, restrained torsion, distortion and interface bidirectional slip is proposed. The dynamic analysis model of the coupled composite box girder bridge-train system is constructed based on the wheel-rail contact relationship of vertical close-fitting and lateral linear creeping slip. Furthermore, the accuracy of the dynamic analysis model is verified via the measured dynamic response data of a practical composite box girder bridge. Finally, the dynamic analysis model is applied in order to study the influence of various mechanical effects on the dynamic performance of the vehicle-bridge system.

The representative tests in this study are performed at a selected site which has the soil layers to analyze the safety and economy of the dynamic analysis for the variable soil conditions. Crosshole test and downhole test of small strain level tests and triaxial test of large strain level test are performed in the soil layers, and in the rock layers, crosshole test and downhole in-situ tests and laboratory sonic test are performed to measure the dynamic shear modulus, damping ratio, and Poisson$\acute{s}$ ratio of the soil and the rock. The correlations between the dynamic soil properties from the tests and the basic soil properties are determined through the regression analysis. The representative design value of the soil is determined by probability analysis of the test results. It is determined from the nonlinear stress-strain model in soils, and the value at small strain level is computed in rocks according to the distribution of the type of soils and the affecting variables. The constitutive value is systematized to be utilized in the analysis of the test results, and computation of the input soil data.

To design a control law of an aircraft, an accurate aircraft dynamic model is required. To obtain an aerodynamic database (DB) to build a dynamic model, a large number of wind tunnel tests are typically required. However, when flight test data of target aircraft exist such as in the process of unmanned conversion of a manned aircraft, an aircraft dynamic model can be obtained through a parameter estimation method and a DB tuning procedure. This paper describes a nonlinear model construction process and a verification method for KC-100 OPV aircraft. Flight data compatibility analysis was performed to determine suitability of the estimation method application. Linear model estimation was performed using the maximum likelihood estimation method. Results of aerodynamic DB tuning process and verification applying the FFS standard to the nonlinear model constructed are presented.
The development of GIS and Location-Based Services requires a high-level database that will be able to allow real-time access to moving objects for spatial and temporal operations. MODB.MM is able to meet these requirements quite adequately, providing operations with the abilities of acquiring, storing, and querying large-scale moving objects. It enables a dynamic and diverse query mechanism, including searches by region, trajectory, and temporal location of a large number of moving objects that may change their locations with time variation. Furthermore, MODB.MM is designed to allow for performance upon main memory and the system supports the migration on out-of-date data from main memory to disk. We define the particular query for truncation of moving objects data and design two migration methods so as to operate the main memory moving objects database system and file-based location storage system with.
Passenger safety is one of the most important considerations in the purchase of an automobile. A curtain-type air bag is increasingly adapted in deluxe cars for protecting passengers from the danger of side clash. Inflator housing is a main part of the curtain-type air bag system for supplying high-pressure gases to pump up the air bag-curtain. Although the inflator housing is fundamental in designing a curtain-type air bag system, flow information on the inflator housing is very limited. In this study, we measured instantaneous velocity fields of a high-speed flow ejecting from the inflator housing using a dynamic PIV system. From the velocity field data measured at a high frame-rate, we evaluated the variation of the mass flow rate with time. From the instantaneous velocity fields of flow ejecting from the airbag inflator housing in the initial stage, we can see a flow pattern of broken shock wave front and its downward propagation. The flow ejecting from the inflator housing was found to have large velocity fluctuations and the maximum velocity was about 700m/s. The velocity of high-speed flow was decreased rapidly and the duration of high-speed flow over 400m/s was maintained only to 30ms. After 100ms, there was no perceptible flow.
Korean trains pass many mountain areas, so the volume of structures like bridge and tunnel has large part of railway lines. Train speed-up naturally needs a straight line in railway, then structures are increasing, and the length of structure has more than 70% in Kyongbu high-speed railway. The stiffness of bridge and tunnel is higher than the soil in the roadbed in spite of dynamic difference in vibration and displacement. Differences in stiffness have more dynamic effects and increase the deformation and destruction in the track and roadbed. This influences passenger's comfort and the safety of operation, and it needs more track maintenance. This study selected tunnel with ballast track, tunnel with concrete track, and structure's approaches with short maintenance cycle in the roadbed and had track acceleration tests and track liner inspections using track master in the field. This study will measure periodically to structure's approaches which have very fast track irregularity and analyze dynamic differences and track irregularity near structure's approaches, so realize the cause of track irregularity of structure's approaches and use basic data for reasonably strengthening method of structure's approaches.
