Antenna Measurement on Cylindrical Surface in Fresnel Region Using Direct Far-Field Measurement System

  • The small anechoic chambers built by many small-/medium-sized companies and universities present difficulties in testing electrically large antennas because the chamber size cannot satisfy the far-field criterion of large antennas. In this paper, a method for Fresnel-region measurement on a cylindrical surface with variation of the measurement height is proposed and verified by both calculations and experiments. We implement the proposed method using a direct far-field measurement system by adding a few supporting structures. The results show good accuracy.

  • Deposition to the sea surface is one of ozone's principal loss mechanisms (Galbally and Roy, 1980; Levy et al., 1985; Kramm, 1995). However, since complicated physical and chemical processes are involved, large uncertainties remain in evaluating this loss mechanism that need to be better characterized. In this study we attempted to explore possible causes that give rise to large variability of ozone deposition velocity in terms of wind speed and chemical reactivity in the aqueous-phase film.   • Resin transfer molding process has been widely used in the automobile industry, because the product with large area can be manufactured easily and the cost for the manufacturing is lower than that of compression molding and hand lay up method. Since RTM process is suitable for large bus housing panels, in this work, the composite housing panel was manufactured by RTM process and the mechanical properties, surface quality and the condition of manufacturing process were studied.

  • This study has investigated the nanotube morphology control of Ti-30Nb-xTa alloys by applied voltages. The morphology changed from small diameter to large diameter with increasing applied voltage, whereas, changed from large diameter to small diameter with decreasing applied voltage.

  • This paper describes a novel method to surface large optics mirror with an extremely high hardness, which could replace the high cost of the repetitive off-line measurement steps and the large ultra-precision grinding machine with ultra-positioning control of 10 nm resolution. A lot of diamond pellet to be attached on the convex aluminum base consists of a grinding tool for the concave large mirror, and the tool was pressured down on the large mirror blank. The tool motion at an interval on the spiral path was controlled with each feed rate as the dwell time in the conventional computer-controlled polishing. The shape to be surfaced was measured directly by a touch probe on the machine without any separation of the mirror blank. Total 40 iterative steps of the surfacing and measurement could demonstrate the form error of RMS $7.8{\mu}m$, surface roughness of Ra $0.2{\mu}m$ for the mirror blank with diameter of 1 m and spherical radius of curvature of 5400 mm.

Characterizations of i-a-Si:H and p-a-SiC:H Film using ICP-CVD Method to the Fabrication of Large-area Heterojunction Silicon Solar Cells

  • We investigated for comparison of large-area i-a-Si:H and p-a-SiC:H film quality like thickness uniformity, optical bandgap and surface roughness using both ICP-CVD and PECVD on the large-area substrate(diameter of 100 mm). As a whole, films using ICP-CVD could be achieved much uniform thickness and bandgap of that using PECVD. For i-a-Si:H films, its uniformity of thickness and optical bandgap were 2.8 % and 0.38 %, respectively. Also, thickness and optical bandgap of p-a-SiC:H films using ICP-CVD could be obtained at 1.8 % and 0.3 %, respectively. In case of surface roughness, average surface roughness (below 5 nm) of ICP-CVD film could be much better than that (below 30 nm) of PECVD film. HIT solar cell with 2 wt%-AZO/p-a-SiC:H/i-a-Si:H/c-Si/Ag structure was fabricated and characterized with diameter of 152.3 mm in this large-area ICP-CVD system. Conversion efficiency of 9.123 % was achieved with a practical area of $100\;mm\;{\times}\;100\;mm$, which can show the potential to fabrication of the large-area solar cell using ICP-CVD method.
