자갈질 재료의 비선형적 전단강도 특성 평가법 (Evaluation Method for Non-linear Shear Strength of Gravel Materials)

  • It is well known that the peak strength envelope of geomaterials with no cohesion, such as sand, gravel and rockfill, exhibits significant curvature over a range of stresses. In a practical design of slope, however, the linear Mohr-Coulomb's failure envelope is used as a failure criterion and consequently gives inaccurate safety factors, especially for some ranges of small normal stresses on shallow failure surfaces. Necessity of a nonlinear shear strength envelope in slope stability analysis is on this point. Hence, this study describes how to evaluate nonlinear shear strength of gravel fill materials using the results of large triaxial tests under consolidated-drained condition, and compares the safety factors from slope stability analyses for a homogeneous gravel fill or rockfill embankment incorporating the non-linearity of strength, so as to show its effects on safety factors.

  • In this case study, under conideration of field situations, such as increase of water level, height increment of the marine structure, dredging and backfill, the stability analysis of sliding and lateral flow of the marine structure in OOOharbor was carried out, and foundation reinforcement methods was presented. based on the results of site investigation, the stability analysis of slope sliding and lateral flow was performed as following. In section BH-1, 2, the analysis was performed in two cases that the marine structure was heightened and filled, and not heightened and filled. In section BH-1, 4, heightened and filled. The analysis results showed that the stabilities of slope sliding and lateral flow in section BH-1, 2, 3, 4 were unstable. After additional reinforcements with Deep Mortar Pile, the stabilities in section BH-1, 2, 3, 4 were evaluated as efficiently large.

사석 방파제에서 내부사석의 적정규격에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Optimal Size of Core Material in Rubble Mould Breakwater)

  • In general, core materials of rubble mound breakwater are used at a restricted range of 0.015㎥~0.03㎥. However, it is not satisfied with the standard design in over fifty percent of the cases. In this study, model tests and numerical analysis are employed to examine the range of core material that has no problem with capacity maintenance and stability of rubble mound breakwater. Model tests measure the porosities that are mixed in various ratios, to classify core materials by three parameters. The slope stability of rubble mound breakwater is investigated, using numerical analysis, with a friction angle and a unit weight. The change of unit weight, which is followed by the mixed rate of size core material, has no large affect on slope stability, and there is no problem with ensuring slope stability of the rubble mound breakwater.

Stability analysis of infinite rock slopes with varying disturbances based on the Hoek-Brown failure criterion

  • Rock disturbance caused by blasting and stress relaxation is commonly observed during excavation. As the distance from the source of disturbance increases, the degree of disturbance decreases, and rock at a large depth does not experience disturbance. However, in stability analyses, a single value of disturbance is often applied to the entire rock mass, which leads to underestimated results. In this study, this modeling mistake is addressed by considering realistically varying rock disturbance. The safety of infinite slopes in a disturbed rock mass with a strength governed by the Hoek-Brown failure criterion is investigated based on the kinematic approach of limit analysis. The maximum disturbance is assigned to the outermost slope face because it is directly exposed to blasting damage and dilation, and the disturbance progressively decays with distance in the rock mass. The safety analysis results indicate that the assumption of uniform disturbance in the entire rock mass leads to underestimation of the rock strength and safety on infinite rock slopes. A critical slip surface appears to be within the disturbed rock layer as well as the interface between the disturbed upper rock and undisturbed lower rock.

Two New Records of Caridean Shrimps (Crustacea: Decapoda) from the Korean Continental Slope of the East Sea

  • Two caridean shrimps, Eualus biunguis (Rathbun, 1902) and Argis toyamaensis (Yokoya, 1933), collected from the Korean continental slope of the East Sea at depths of 850-870 m are reported as new to the Korean caridean fauna with brief descriptions and illustrations. A hippolytid shrimp, E. biunguis, is distinguished from the congeners by the minute che1alike appearance of dactyli of the last three pereopods and the large pyriform eye. A crangonid shrimp, A. toyamaensis, differs from the Korean species of the genus in having the posterior acute spines of submedian carinae on the sixth abdominal somite.

불포화 자연사면의 안정해석시 흙-함수특성곡선 맞춤계수의 영향 (The Influence of Fitting Parameters on the Soil-Water Characteristics Curve in Stability Analysis of an Unsaturated Natural Slope)

  • 자연사면을 대상으로 강우에 따른 침투해석 및 사면안정해석을 통하여 사면토층의 흙-함수특성곡선(SWCC) 맞춤계수에 따른 안정성의 영향을 평가하였다. 연구 대상사면의 토질시료를 채취하여 토층의 물리적, 역학적 및 불포화 특성을 실험하였다. 현장조건의 흙-함수특성곡선(SWCC)의 맞춤계수 α 및 n을 변화시켜 침투해석을 통한 포화심도를 산정하였으며, 이를 고려하여 한계평형해석기법을 이용한 사면안정해석을 수행하였다. 강우에 의한 침투해석 결과에 따르면 맞춤계수 α가 감소함에 따라 토층 내 포화심도가 급격하게 증가하며, 전체 토층에 대한 포화시간도 짧아지는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 포화심도를 고려한 사면안정해석결과에 의하면 맞춤계수 α가 감소함에 따라 사면안전율은 급격하게 감소하지만, 맞춤계수 n을 증가시키더라도 사면안전율의 변화는 매우 작은 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 강우침투로 인한 포화심도와 이를 고려한 사면안정성은 흙-함수특성곡선(SWCC)의 맞춤계수 α에 크게 영향을 받으며, 맞춤계수 n의 영향은 상대적으로 매우 작음을 알 수 있다.

만 2-4세 한국 아동의 단모음과 이중모음 산출 특징 (Characteristics of 2 to 4 year old Korean children's production of monophthongs and diphthongs)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate age-specific features of 2;1- to 4;1-year -olds' production of monophthongs and diphthongs through both auditory perceptual analysis and acoustic analysis. Test material included {vowel+'da'} consisting of 7 monophthongs and 10 diphthongs and meaningful words beginning with vowels. The percentage of correct vowels was used for perceptual analysis and Praat(5.2.12) was used for acoustic analysis, analyzing variables related to monophthongs and diphthongs. The results of this study are as follows: First, perceptual analysis showed that children from an age group of 2;1 to 2;8 years showed significant difference in the accuracy level of both monophthongs and diphthongs as compared to those aged 2;9 to 3;4 years and those aged 3;5 to 4;1 years. Second, the results of acoustic analysis provided that formant (F1 and F2) of monophthong, in general, tended to decrease as age increased. In terms of F2 differentiation slope and regression slope, which were diphthong-related variables, the age group of 3;5 to 4;1 years showed a large general slope change.

억지말뚝 근입깊이 및 배치간격에 따른 사면 안전율 변화에 관한 연구 (A Study on Slope Safety Factor Variation by Pile Construction Depth and Space)

  • 국토의 $70\%$가 산지로 이루어져 있는 우리나라의 지형적인 특성으로 인하여 도시간의 연계성을 필요로 하는 상황에 의해 계속적인 도로공사가 요구되고 있다. 이에 따라 대규모 절개사면의 발생은 필연적으로 형성되고 있다. 이러한 절개사면이 전반적인 붕괴될 경우의 보강방법으로 지표에서 이동하려는 토괴를 관통하여 부동지반까지 말뚝을 삽입해서 지반활동하중을 말뚝이 저항을 하여 부동지반으로 전달시킴으로써 토괴의 이동에 대하여 역학적으로 저항하는 억지말뚝 공법을 채택하고 있다. 현재 경험적으로 사용되는 말뚝의 근입깊이와 말뚝의 간격에 대한 한계를 수치해석을 통하여 분석하고자 하였다. 이 결과 억지말뚝의 가장 효과적인 시공깊이 및 배치간격을 제안하였다.

시공단계를 고려한 비탈면의 안정성 검토를 통한 비탈면 활동원인 연구 (A Study on the Collapse Reason by Slope Stability Analysis Considering Construction Stages)

  • 최근 우기 시 집중호우로 인한 보강토 옹벽 및 비탈면의 붕괴는 빈번히 발생하고 있으며 더욱 인명사고로 이어지고 있다. 이에 본 논문에서는 집중호우로 인한 보강토 옹벽의 붕괴된 사례를 통해 보강토 옹벽의 균열 및 비탈면활동의 원인을 분석한 내용을 다루었고, 시공단계를 고려한 유한요소해석을 실시하여 비탈면의 파괴원인 분석 및 거동특성을 파악하였다. 연구결과 집중호우에 의한 보강토 옹벽의 변위는 증가하는 것으로 나타났으며, 그 증가폭도 큰 것으로 나타났다. 이와 같은 결과를 통해 말뚝 항타로 인해 보강토 옹벽의 붕괴에 일부 영향을 미칠 수 있는 것으로 분석되었다.

Three-dimensional stability assessment of slopes with spatially varying undrained shear strength

  • The variation of the undrained shear strength (cu) is an important consideration for assessing slope stability in engineering practice. Previous studies focused on the three-dimensional (3D) stability of slopes in normally consolidated clays generally assume the undrained shear strength increases linearly with depth but does not vary in the horizontal direction. To assess the 3D stability of slopes with spatially varying undrained shear strength, the kinematic approach of limit analysis was adopted to obtain the upper bound solution to the stability number based on a modified failure mechanism. Three types failure mechanism: the toe failure, face failure and below-toe failure were considered. A serious of charts was then presented to illustrate the effect of key parameters on the slope stability and failure geometry. It was found that the stability and failure geometry of slopes are significantly influenced by the gradient of cu in the depth direction. The influence of cu profile inclination on the slope stability was found to be pronounced when the increasing gradient of cu in the depth direction is large. Slopes with larger width-to-height ratio B/H are more sensitive to the variation of cu profile inclination.
