사각 스월 연소기에서 냉각 유동을 이용한 연소기 내 유동 불안정 감쇠 및 조종 (Dissipation and Control of Flow Instability in a Rectangular Swirl Combustor using Cooling Flow Injection)

  • 사각 스월 연소기의 냉각 유동에 의한 비반응 난류 유동 특성을 파악하기 위하여 3차원 Large Eddy Simulation(LES)을 수행하였고, 후처리 기법으로 Proper Orthogonal Decomposition(POD) 분석을 이용하였다. 해석에 이용된 연소기 모델은 GEAE사의 LM6000 연소기이다. 냉각 유동의 유입시 전단층(shear layer)의 속도 증가로 인해 중심 재순환 영역의 와류 강도는 강해진 반면 코너 재순환 영역의 와류 강도는 약해진 것을 관찰하였다. 또한 연소실 내 압력변동 폭이 감소하였으며, longitudinal acoustic mode의 감쇠가 두드러지게 나타난 것을 확인하였다.

Bluff-body 후방의 난류유동에 대한 대와동모사(LES)의 성능검토 (PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF LARGE EDDY SIMULATION FOR TURBULENT FLOW BEHIND A BLUFF-BODY)

  • The objective of this study is to evaluate the prediction accuracy of development large eddy simulation(LES) program for turbulent flow behind a bluff-body. The LES solver was implemented on parallel computer consisting 16 processors. To verify the capability of LES code, the results were compared with those of Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS) using standard ${\kappa}-{\varepsilon}$ model as well as experimental data. The results showed that the LES and RANS qualitatively well predicted the experimental results, such as mean axial, radial velocities and turbulent kinetic energy. In the quantitative analysis, however, the LES showed a better prediction performance than RANS. Specially, the LES well described characteristics of the recirculation zones, such as air stagnation point and jet stagnation point. Finally, the unsteady phenomena on the Bluff-body, such as the transition of recirculation region and vorticity, was examined with LES methodology.

스월 난류연소기의 흡입공기온도, 스월세기에 따른 연소불안정 발생 메커니즘에 대한 연구 (A study on flame bifurcation due to inlet mixture temperature and swirl strength in a swirl turbulent combustor)

  • 스월 난류연소기에서의 혼합기 유입온도와 스월세기에 따른 연소불안정 발생 메커니즘 알아보기 위하여 Large Eddy Simulation을 수행하였다. 스월각 45도 경우 연료공기 혼합기의 온도를 600K에서 660K으로 증가시켰을 경우 화염분기(Bifurcation)현상이 관찰되었고, 스월 강도가 변할 경우 온도와 관계없이 화염분기가 일어나거나 그렇지 않음을 확인하였다. 벽면근처의 혼합가스 유동속도와 화염속도간의 상관관계는 화염분기현상의 발생에 주요한 인자임을 확인하였다.

  • 화염 전파 특성을 나타내는 G 방정식에 기초한 Sub-grid Scale연소 모델을 이용하여 보염기 주위의 난류 예혼합 연소 해석에 관한 대 와동 모사를 수행하였다. Dynamic SGS 모델이 G방정식에 도입되었으며, 삼각형의 보염기 배면의 예혼합 연소 유동에 의해 검증되었다. 해석결과는 실험결과와의 비교를 통해 속도와 온도분포를 잘 예측하고 있음을 확인하였다.

Large Eddy Simulation of the Dynamic Response of an Inducer to Flow Rate Fluctuations

  • A Large Eddy Simulation (LES) of the flow in an inducer is carried out under flow rate oscillations. The present study focuses on the dynamic response of the backflow and the unsteady pressure performance to the flow rate fluctuations under non-cavitation conditions. The amplitude of angular momentum fluctuation evaluated by LES is larger than that evaluated by RANS. However, the phase delay of backflow is nearly the same as RANS calculation. The pressure performance curve exhibits a closed curve caused by the inertia effect associated with the flow rate fluctuations. Compared with simplified one dimensional evaluation of the inertia component, the component obtained by LES is smaller. The negative slope of averaged performance curve becomes larger under unsteady conditions. From the conservations of angular momentum and energy, an expression useful for the evaluation of unsteady pressure rise was obtained. The examination of each term of this expression show that the apparent decrease of inertia effects is caused by the response delay of Euler's head and that the increase of negative slope is caused by the delay of inertial term associated with the delay of backflow response. These results are qualitatively confirmed by experiments.

벨마우스 깊이가 다른 3차원 소형축류홴의 공력특성에 대한 대규모 와 모사 (Large Eddy Simulation on the Aerodynamic Performance of Three-Dimensional Small-Size Axial Fan with the Different Depth of Bellmouth)

  • The unsteady-state, incompressible and three-dimensional large eddy simulation(LES) was carried out to analyze the aerodynamic performance of three-dimensional small-size axial fan(SSAF) with the different depth of bellmouth. The static pressure coefficients analyzed by LES predict a little bit larger than measurements except stall region regardless of the installation depth between SSAF and bellmouth. Moreover, static pressure efficiencies analyzed by LES show about maximum 30% at the actual operating point ranges, but measurements do not. Therefore, if the blades of conventional SSAF have some more rigidity and complete dynamic balance, the aerodynamic performance of SSAF will be some more improved. In consequence, LES shows the best prediction performance in comparison with any other Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes(RANS) method.

  • 큰 에디 모사(LES)는 복잡한 연소실 유동에서 RANS 모델과 비교해 난류 유동장에 대해 모델의 보편성과 더 정확한 결과를 제공하기 때문에 점차적으로 사용이 증대되고 있다. 내연 기관의 연소실 내 난류 유동장 해석을 큰 에디 모사를 사용하여 수행하였다. 이산화 방식, 초기 조건, 시간 간격과 SGS 모델과 같은 모델과 수치 인자에 따른 영향을 평가하였다. SGS 모델을 사용한 LES 모사는 실험치와 유사한 결과를 보여주었다.

  • Time delay effects on near-wall turbulent structures are investigated by performing a large-eddy simulation of a transient turbulent flow in a pipe. To elucidate the time delay effects on the near-wall turbulence, we selected the dimensionless acceleration parameter which was used in the previous study. Various turbulent statistics revealed the distinctive features of the delay. It was shown that the dynamic Smagorinsky model is valid to capture the alterations of the turbulence physics well. A dimensionless time for the responses of the flow quantities was introduced to give the detailed information on the delay of the nearwall turbulence. The conditionally-averaged flow fields associated with Reynolds shear stress producing events show that sweep and ejections are closely related to the delays of the turbulence production and the turbulence propagation toward the pipe center. The present study suggested that the enhanced anisotropy of the turbulence in the initial and transient stages would be a challenging problem to standard turbulence models.

A large eddy simulation on the effect of buildings on urban flows

  • The effect of buildings on flow in urban canopy is one of the most important problems in local/micro-scale meteorology. A large eddy simulation model is used to simulate the flow structure in an urban neighborhood and the bulk effect of the buildings on surrounding flows is analyzed. The results demonstrate that: (a) The inflow conditions affect the detailed flow characteristics much in the building group, including: the distortion or disappearance of the wake vortexes, the change of funneling effect area and the change of location, size of the static-wind area. (b) The bulk effect of the buildings leads to a loss of wind speed in the low layer where height is less than four times of the average building height, and this loss effect changes little when the inflow direction changes. (c) In the bulk effect to environmental fields, the change of inflow direction affects the vertical distribution of turbulence greatly. The peak value of the turbulence energy appears at the height of the average building height. The attribution of fluctuations of different components to turbulence changes greatly at different height levels, in the low levels the horizontal speed fluctuation attribute mostly, while the vertical speed fluctuation does in high levels.

초저속 영역에서 난류 촉진기 주위 천이 유동의 직접 수치 및 대형 와 모사 (Direct Numerical and Large Eddy Simulations of Transitional Flows around Turbulence Stimulators at Very Low Speeds)

  • Direct numerical and large eddy simulations of transitional flows around studs installed on flat plate and bulbous bow have been performed to investigate an effectiveness of turbulence stimulators on laminar-to-turbulence transition at a very low speed. The flow velocity was determined to be 0.366m/s corresponding to 4 knots of full-scale ship speed when the objective ship was Kriso container ship. The spatial evolution of skin friction coefficient disclosed that a fully development of turbulence was observed behind the second stud installed on flat plate while a rapid transition from laminar to turbulence gave rise to the fully development of turbulence behind the first stud installed on bulbous bow. A comparison of streamwise mean velocity profiles showed that the viscous sublayer and log-layer were in good agreement with previous results although the friction velocity of Smagrosinsky sub-grid scale model was about 10% larger than that of direct numerical simulation. While the turbulence intensities of bulbous bow was similar to those of flat plate in inner region, larger intensities of turbulence were observed in outer region of bulbous bow than those of flat plate.
