이질적 경관에서의 연결성 측정: 리뷰 및 적용 (Measuring Connectivity in Heterogenous Landscapes: a Review and Application)

  • The loss of connectivity and fragmentation of forest landscapes are seriously hindering dispersal of many forest-dwelling species, which may be critical for their viability and conservation by decreasing habitat area and increasing distance among habitats. For understanding their environmental impacts, numerous spatial models exist to measure landscape connectivity. However, general relationships between functional connectivity and landscape structure are lacking, there is a need to develop landscape metrics that more accurately measure landscape connectivity in whole landscape and individual patches. We reviewed functional and structural definition of landscape connectivity, explained their mathematical connotations, and applied representative 13 indices in 3 districts of Seoul having fragmented forest patches with tits, the threshold distance was applied 500m by considering the dispersal of tits. Results of correlation and principal component analysis showed that connectivity indices could be divided by measurement methods whether they contain the area attribute with distance or not. Betweenness centrality(BC), a representative index measuring distance and distribution among patches, appreciated highly stepping stone forest patches, and difference of probability of connectivity(dPC), an index measuring including area information, estimated integrated connectivity of patches. Therefore, for evaluating landscape connectivity, it is need to consider not only general information of a region and species' characteristics but also various measuring methods of landscape connectivity.

개발사업에 따른 조류종 영향평가모형 개발 및 적용 (Impact Assessment Model of Bird Species for Land Developments)

  • Forests are being seriously fragmented as a result of land development. Land development with disregard to its subsequent environmental impacts is a primary threat to biodiversity by incurring massive habitat losses and changes in structure and composition of forests. The purpose of this study was to develop the impact assessment model for quantitative distance or degree of disturbance by land developments. This study conducted a survey about structure and composition of forest species to determine degree of impact from land development. The edge effect of forest fragmentation on the number of bird species, population size, and bird diversity was obvious. In particular, the bird diversity sharply declines around the forest edge where intensive land development projects take place. To assess the disturbance of forest species, the factors selected were the bird diversity and the rate of edge species. The impact assessment model about bird diversity was explained by type of forest fragmentation and type of vegetation ($R^2$=0.23, p<0.005). The other model about edge species explained by a distance, type of forest fragmentation, type of vegetation, and width of road ($R^2$=0.34, p<0.001). In order to test the applicability of the model developed in this study, the models was applied to the Samsong housing development in Goyang-si, Gyunggi-do. The impacts of land development on the bird species were reasonably quantified to suggest effective mitigation measure. The impact assessment model developed in this study is useful to assess the magnitude of disturbance of bird species. Particularly, the model could be applied to the current Environmental Impact Assessment practices to predict and quantify the impacts of land developments projects on forest bird species.

경관지수와 생태계용역가치를 활용한 대구광역도시권 경관의 구조적·기능적 변화 분석 (The Structural and Functional Analysis of Landscape Changes in Daegu Metropolitan Sphere using Landscape Indices & Ecosystem Service Value)

  • 생태계는 인간, 생물 무생물적 환경의 집합체이며, 경관은 생태계가 단위지역에 나타나는 현상이다. 이러한 경관은 다양한 경관요소가 시 공간적으로 나타나는 토지 모자이크이며, 토지이용과 피복 변화는 경관의 구조를 변화시키는 주요 요인이다. 본 연구에서는 경관을 구조적 기능적 측면에서 정량화하는 경관지수와 생태계용역가치(Ecosystem Service Value: ESV)를 이용하여 대구광역도시권의 산림경관의 시 공간적 변화패턴에 관하여 분석하였다. 분석결과, 산림경관의 잠식과 파편화는 택지 및 공업단지조성 등의 대규모 개발행위 보다는 도로 등의 선형적 개발에 의해 발생되었으며, 핵심지역의 상대적 비율은 점진적으로 감소한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 현상은 생물종의 주요 서식처가 되는 핵심지역을 감소시켜 그 건전성을 저하시킬 가능성이 있을 것으로 판단되었다. 또한 ESV가 산림경관의 면적변화와 밀접한 관계를 가지는 것을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 연구결과들은 향후 생태계를 대상으로 한 개발과 보존의 논리 사이에서 객관적인 평가의 기틀을 마련하고, 광역도시계획 등의 개발계획 수립에서 생태계 가치를 충분히 반영하기 위한 기본적인 척도로 활용 가능할 것이다.

금호강 유역 산림의 경관생태적 패턴분석 (An Analysis on Landscape Ecological Pattern of the Geumho River Watershed Forest)

  • 산림의 단편화와 같은 인위적 교란은 유역생태계의 지속성에 영향을 미치기 때문에, 본 연구는 각종 개발사업에 따른 산림의 단편화를 사전에 예방하기 위해서 경관지수와 GIS를 이용하여 금호강 유역에 분포하는 산림구조를 정량화하였다. 소유역 단위의 경관지수값은 인자분석에 의해 전체 분산을 85% 정도 설명하는 3개의 공통인자를 단순화하였다. 산림단편화 정도는 소유역별 인자점수를 토대로 계산하였고, 이는 도시지역 면적률(r=0.827, p<0.01, $R^2$=0.685), 고도(r=-0.637, p<0.01) 그리고 경사도(r=-0.593, p<0.01)와 상호관련성이 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이상과 같이 본 연구는 금호강 유역관리를 위한 산림경관의 건전성 빛 구조적 패턴을 평가하기 위한 방법론과 경관지수값을 제시하였다. 향후에는 경관패턴 및 그 변화가 유역환경의 건전성에 미치는 영향을 규명하기 위한 연구가 필요할 것이다.

한국 농산촌 경관의 구조와 이질성 및 다양성의 최근 변화: 경관의 보전과 복원과의 관계 (Recent Spatio-temporal Changes of Landscape Structure, Heterogeneity and Diversity of Rural Landscape: Implements for Landscape Conservation and Restoration)

  • Landscape change is the modification and replacement of landscape elements in accordance with human management and natural disturbance on land mosaics. During landscape change, changes in patterns such as heterogeneity, diversity and shape, and juxtaposition of spatial elements are also accompanied. For the sustainable landscape system, therefore, spatial characteristics of the landscape should be considered in implementation of landscape conservation and restoration planning. Short-term changes of land-use and landscape pattern during the 10 years of 1980s and 1990s were investigated in the agriculture-forestry dominated landscape system through the statistics and the analysis of landscape-vegetation map. Study area is Yangdong-myon, Yangpyung-gun (37°27′30"N, 127°46′50"E), Kyonggi-do, in central Korea. Landscape change of this region was significantly related to the recent industrialization according to socio-economic development. Analyses of landscape pattern show that the area of secondary forest sustained by human activity decreased and it was replaced with large exotic plantations during this period. Area of paddy field was also extended. Fractal dimension of the total landscape increased, but that of paddy field area decreased due to rearrangement for mechanized farming. Moreover, the area of landscape management regimes such as plantation and cultivation increased in land mosaics during this period.

FRAGSTATS 모델을 이용한 갑천 유역의 불투수면 변화에 따른 경관 구조 분석 (Analysis of Landscape Structure on the Impervious Cover of the Gap-Stream Watershed using FRAGSTATS)

  • An impervious cover in the watershed management has been used as effective indicators. It is a very useful barometer to measure the impacts of watershed development on aquatic systems. Hence, it is necessary to survey the impervious cover of a watershed and to develop an impervious cover model (ICM) for supporting best management practices. The main objectives of this study were to investigate the spatial patterns of the impervious cover, to calculate landscape indices using FRAGSTATS, and to develop an ICM in the Gap-stream watershed and its six sub-watersheds. The results showed that the impervious cover of the Gap-stream watershed increased from 4.9 % in 1975 to more than 11.2 % in 2000, the number of impervious cover fragments increased from 662 to 3,578, and the landscape shape index increased from 27.0796 to 91.1982. Fragmentation was severe within the Yudeungcheon downstream and the Gapcheon downstream of six sub-watersheds. This paper presented the results derived landscape indices to define landscape patterns and structure for the Gap-stream watershed. Our results indicate that altered land use might be influenced changes in landscape structure.

남북한 접경지역 개발에 따른 서식지 파편화에 대한 경관생태학적 분석 (Landscape Analysis of Habitat Fragmentation in the North and South Korean Border)

  • 본 연구는 경기도 내 남북한 접경지역인 파주시와 연천군에서 1990년부터 2007년까지 17년 동안 진행된 서식지 파편화를 경관지수를 이용해 분석하였다. 분석은 1990년과 2007년에 수집된 Landsat TM영상을 이용하여 초지 및 경작지 서식지와 산림 서식지를 분류한 후 각 시기별 서식지 면적비, 패치밀도, 평균 패치면적, 평균 패치면적 대비 둘레길이를 계산하여 비교하였다. 분석 결과 초지 및 경작지 서식지에 대한 패치밀도는 47% 증가, 평균 패치면적은 42% 감소하였고 산림 서식지의 패치밀도와 평균 패치면적도 각각 36% 증가, 28.7% 감소한 것으로 분석되어 두 유형의 서식지 모두 지난 17년간 급격히 파편화된 것으로 나타났다. 평균 패치면적 대비 둘레길이는 초지 및 경작지 서식지는 7%, 산림 서식지는 5% 감소하여 남아있는 서식지라 하더라도 서식지 주변지역의 경계효과에 영향을 받아 서식지 내부종이 서식할 수 없는 지역이 많아진 것을 알 수 있었다. 앞으로 늘어날 접경지역에 대한 개발에 대비해 서식지 파편화를 최소화할 수 있도록 하는 생태계 보전계획 수립이 필요할 것으로 판단된다.

Differences in Moth Diversity in Two Types of Forest Patches in an Agricultural Landscape in Southern Korea - Effects of Habitat Heterogeneity -

  • This research focused on the effects of fragmentation on moth diversity in an agricultural land-scape by comparing moth species richness and abundance between hillocks and young secondary forests. We examined five sites from the southwestern part of South Korea: three sites from hillock forest and two from secondary forest. We collected moths bi-weekly from April to October for a 2-year period (2006-2007) with a UV light trap that usually attracts moths within 30 meters. Tree species richness and abundance in $20m{\times}20m$ plots at each moth sampling site showed a substantial difference in tree diversity between the two types of forest habitats. The total abundance and richness of moth species were higher in secondary forests (541 species with 4,998 individuals) than in hillock forests (423 species with 3,913 individuals), irrespective of the distance among the sites. An ordination analysis with NMDS showed that habitat is the most important factor of grouping sites. The food preferences of the dominant moth species i,n each habitat were closely related to the habitat type.

농업경영체 등록정보를 활용한 밭 경작지의 공간적 파편화 특성 분석 (Spatial Fragmentation Analysis of Upland Fields Using Farm Manager Registration Information)

  • As food consumption pattern changes (reduced rice consumption and increased consumption of fresh vegetables), managing upland fields became a greater priority. However, the agricultural infrastructure projects have been focused on rice farming, and the infrastructure level to support dry fields cultivation is insufficient. The purpose of this study was to spatial distribution analysis of these dry fields with farm manager registration information. Using FRAGSTATS, we analyzed landscape indices (TA/CA, NP, PD, LSI, LPI, PLADJ, COHESION, CONNECT, AI) of farmlands in which farmers in 13 regions (Si or Gun) cultivated dry-field crops. As results of this analysis, the total area of the fields in Naju-si, Hampyeong-gun and Suncheon-si were found to be wider, but the average area of a patch in Youngam-gun, Hampyeong-gun and Jangseong-gun were wider than other regions. On average, each farmer had farmlands containing of 1.7~2.4 patches and cultivated crops in fields of 0.2~0.5 ha. Farmlands of Hampyeong-gun, Youngam-gun, Naju-si showed high values in adjacency indices, however the farmlands of Suncheon and Gwangyang showed fragmented distribution with low values in adjacency indices. These results of fragmentation analysis of farmlands could be used when we establish the plan of an agricultural infrastructure project or select places for a collaborative agricultural management business promotion project.

환경영향평가기법의 경관생태학적 접근방안 (Landscape Ecological Approaches to the Environmental Impact Assessment)

  • Natural disturbance and environmental pressure on natural ecosystems are gradually increasing, and the cause is significantly related to large-scale environmental pollution, global warming, decreasing biodiversity and habitat fragmentation. Environmental impact assessment(EIA) in Korea has been focused on distribution and composition of fauna and flora as major evaluation aspects in ecosystem assessment. It is well known that those characteristics of flora and fauna strongly depend on characteristics and quality of habitat and ecosystem. However, there is no items to assess habitat and ecosystems of spatial ecological system in EIA. Many countries are trying to develop the EIA items to consider the spatial characteristics of habitat and ecosystem and those ecological dynamics as well as species level. In this stream, landscape ecology is emerging discipline to examine spatial pattern and ecological process within/between habitats and ecosystems. Landscape ecological analysis, as a special tool for ecosystem evaluation, has been appropriately adopted to the EIA system in the advanced countries. This review paper tries to introducing the possibilities of landscape ecological concept into the Korean EIA system.
