  • This study carried out to analysis the characteristics of periodic changes of landscape facilities with the apartment sites in Cheongju City. The construction periods were divided into the introduction stage (the 1980s), the development stage (the 1990s), and the maturity stage (after 1999). As for the apartment sites constructed in the introduction stage (the 1980s), their landscape facilities were restricted to play and resting facilities. Some of them even were constructed without rest facilities. Since the focus was on the affluent supply of houses in the 1980s, they put a greater emphasis on quantity than quality. Entering the development stage in the 1990s, they started to pave the sidewalks and driveways separately within the apartment sites and build parking lots underground. After 1999, they entered the maturity stage, where the outside spaces of apartment sites began to reflect environment-friendly designs and the initiatives to improve residential environments. The major causes behind the introduction of high-grade materials in landscape facilities in the open spaces of apartment sites are the upgraded level of living standards and the diversified patterns of activities taking place in the open spaces. The environmental formative works were placed alongside waterscape spaces to create a beautiful and harmonious landscape.

  • This study intends to establish a system to investigate and analyze various impacting factors to Rural Housings such as the relationship of characteristics of Rural Housings located in a Rural Village to the Village and a Unit Housing, to the External and Internal Spaces inside the Unit Housing and the Village, and to Living Characteristics of the Residents and Space from an integrated point of view. The results of this study are largely summarized as following four kinds. Rural Housing Survey System can be largely classified into three stages, and they are a Preliminary Survey, Basic Survey and In-depth Survey. Along with these, the scope of the survey contents can be divided into a survey result by a unit of village, of land, of housing, and of resident's opinion survey. Secondly, the surveys by village unit are on location properties, Village Identity, Street Network, Land Use, Landscape Features and Public Facilities, and consist of Literature, Discussion and Field Survey. Thirdly, the land Unit Surveys are on a Driveway, Gate Location, Housing Placement, Outer Space Design in a Yard and Outer Space Use Characteristics, and consist of Questionnaire and Field Surveys. For the fourth, the Housing Unit Surveys are on an Internal Space Design and Placement, and consist of Questionnaire and Field Surveys. Finally, the Resident Questionnaire Survey consisted of Entire Discussion Survey and a Household one, and then the Entire Survey was on the Village's History, Village's Characteristics, Cultivation Characteristics and Community Activities while an individual one was on Main Living Characteristics, Satisfaction and Utilization Characteristics.

Self-administered questionaires and interviews were provided to 144 dwellers in Incheon Man-soo 7 complex from 2008 December 29th to 31st. The collected data was used to conduct comparative and descriptive statistical analysis: frequency, t-test, and $X^2$-test. The main findings are as follows : 1. House repairing and papering is most common used service by respondents. They also have much need for economic support. 2. Residents were satisfied with general environment of house. This survey showes that the highest satisfaction was about using food waste disposal sites. and the lowest satisfaction was about soundproof facilities on the other hand, among the questions. 3. • Natural ventilation is an effective method for improving IAQ(Indoor Air Quality) and removing heats in buildings. In oder to use natural ventilation, many factors such as wind pressure around the buildings and possibility of air intake on different shapes need to be known. On this paper, the natural ventilation performance in multi-housing units of tower-type buildings was investigated. Tower-type multi-housing buildings are recently more and more constructed for they may change urban landscape and get more openness in multi-housing site. However, such housing buildings have problems with natural ventilation because of the various directions of the building units. The purpose of this paper is to find the proper building direction regarding to wind direction in order to optimize air intake in every units in the building.

  • In this study, I investigate the critical evaluation elements at the architectural competition of the Rowhousing held nationwide in Germany. These evaluation elements, which can be regarded as the important design evaluation criteria, are selected by the design competition committee. Generally, in Germany the design competition committee consist of professors and famous architects who have theoretical and practical abilities with their own office. I classify and analyze the critical evaluation elements of 95 committee members, working on the selected 9 prize-winners in Germany from 1998 to 2002. I conclude that the critical evaluation elements, ordered by frequency are ; $\circled1$ context, $\circled2$ landscape & outside space, $\circled3$ arrangement of building, $\circled4$ circulation, $\circled5$ organization of plan, $\circled6$ economic aspects, $\circled7$ orientation of building, $\circled8$ parking, $\circled9$organization of form, $\circled10$ natural light. These design evaluation criteria for the Rowhousing in Germany also can apply to the korean case.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze architectural plans of lower part of super tall mixed-use residential building for understanding its functions for urban. The area of this research are limited to super tall mixed-use residential building which were built in Seoul, Kyoung-gi area, and new towns. For this purpose, theories for super tall mixed-use residential building and non-housing parts were researched, and characteristics of selected cases for field research were analyzed by studying drawing materials. The research focused on scale, type of building, included programs for public spaces, and characteristics of location. As a result, every cases were designed as 'outdoor transition zone-centered type', and for urban function, non-housing facilities were condensed to increase convenience. In addition, ratio of non-housing part were incresesed with public spaces design for residents, and various programs were inserted.

  • Idleness in rural areas is a very important issue with regard to national land space management. Previous studies have been conducted separately in terms of population housing and farmland. So, an integrated analysis considering population housing and farmland is required for rural spatial management. In this study, vulnerability indices were developed and spatial distribution of the vulnerable areas was analyzed by evaluating regional vulnerability on population, housing, and farmland. In addition, plans for rural space management plan were proposed considering the population hollowing out and the idle farmland. The results of this study would be helpful in preparing policies that take into account the vulnerability of idleness in rural areas.
