기후변화를 고려하기 위한 오염총량관리제 토지계 오염부하량 산정 방식 개선 (Enhancement of Land Load Estimation Method in TMDLs for Considering of Climate Change Scenarios)

  • In this study, a land pollutant load calculation method in TMDLs was improved to consider climate change scenarios. In order to evaluate the new method, future change in rainfall patterns was predicted by using SRES A1B climate change scenarios and then post-processing methods such as change factor (CF) and quantile mapping (QM) were applied to correct the bias between the predicted and the observed rainfall patterns. Also, future land pollutant loads were estimated by using both the bias corrected rainfall patterns and the enhanced method. For the results of bias correction, both methods (CF and QM) predicted the temporal trend of the past rainfall patterns and QM method showed future daily average precipitation in the range of 1.1~7.5 mm and CF showed it in the range of 1.3~6.8 mm from 2014 to 2100. Also, in the result of the estimation of future land pollutant loads using the enhanced method (2020, 2040, 2100), TN loads were in the range of 4316.6~6138.6 kg/day and TP loads were in the range of 457.0~716.5 kg/day. However, each result of TN and TP loads in 2020, 2040, 2100 was the same with the original method. The enhanced method in this study will be useful to predict land pollutant loads under the influence of climate change because it can reflect future change in rainfall patterns. Also, it is expected that the results of this study are used as a base data of TMDLs in case of applying for climate change scenarios.

교통관련 포장지역 비점오염원에서의 오염물질 유출원단위 산정 (Determination of Pollutant Unit Loads from Various Transportation Landuses)

  • Human activities and land-use practices are intensely widening the urban areas. High impervious surface areas cover much of urban landscapes and are the primary pollutant sources which can lead to water quality and habitat degradation in its watershed. As the urban areas expand, transportation land-use such as parking lots, roads, service areas, toll-gates in highways and bridges also increase. These land-uses are significant in urban pollution due to high imperviousness rate and vehicular activities. To regulate the environmental impacts and to improve the water quality of rivers and lakes, the Ministry of Environment (MOE) in Korea developed the Total Pollution Load Management System (TPLMS) program. The main objective is to lead the watershed for a low impact development. On a local scale, some urban land surfaces can be emitting more pollution than others. Consequently, in urban areas, the unit loads are commonly employed to estimate total pollutant loadings emitted from various land-uses including residential, commercial, industrial, transportation, open lands such as parks and golf courses, and other developed land like parking areas as a result of development. In this research, unit pollutant loads derived specifically from transportation land-uses (i.e. branched out from urban areas) will be provided. Monitoring was conducted over 56 storm events at nine monitoring locations during three years. Results for the unit pollutant loads of transportation land-use are determined to be $399.5kg/km^2-day$ for TSS, $12.3kg/km^2-day$ for TN and $2.46kg/km^2-day$ for TP. The values are higher than those of urban areas in Korean MOE and US highways. These results can be used by MOE to separate the pollutant unit load of transportation landuses from urban areas.

Load-settlement curve combining base and shaft resistance considering curing of cement paste

  • Embedded piles, which are typically used in Korea, are precast piles inserted into prebored ground with cement paste. Dynamic pile tests tend to underestimate the bearing capacity of embedded piles because of the undeveloped shaft resistance prior to the curing of the cement paste and the insufficient energy transferred after the curing. In this study, a resistance combination method using the base resistance before the cement paste is cured and the shaft resistance after the cement paste is cured is proposed to obtain a combined load-settlement curve from dynamic pile tests. Two pairs of embedded piles with diameters of 600 and 500 mm are installed. Each pair comprises one pile for the dynamic pile test and another pile for the static load test. The shape of the load-settlement curve obtained using the proposed method is similar to that obtained from the static load test. Thus, the resistances evaluated using the proposed method at selected settlements are similar to those obtained from the static load test. This study shows that the resistance combination method may be used effectively in dynamic pile tests to accurately evaluate the bearing capacity of embedded piles.

트랙터 PTO 출력과 농작업 부하 특성 (Characteristics of Tractor PTO Power and Work Loads)

  • Tractor PTO output and fuel consumption rate under the korean paddy and various paddy operations were measured and analyzed, in which all the measurements were accomplished by the OECD tractor test codes and the collected information will be utilized for defining tractor energy efficiency class and its test methods. Tractor PTO performance tests were conducted under full-load, part-load and various engine RPMs with part-load at the engine laboratory, while the paddy operations were dry land plowing, wet and dry land rotary tilling and wet land preparation under various soils. As a whole, the rated tractor outputs were ranged from 17% to 100% in the various tillage and land preparation operations, however, the loads for the paddy operations of 1,700 to 2,000 rpm were very close to the OECD tractor load distribution thus it would be appropriate to adopt OECD tractor test codes to measure energy consumption efficiency of tractor.

간척지 설치 온실의 난방부하 특성 분석 (Analysis of Heating Load Characteristics for Greenhouses Constructed in Reclaimed Lands)

  • The purpose of this study was to provide basic data for development of environmental design technology for greenhouses constructed in reclaimed lands. We analyzed the climatic conditions around seven major reclaimed land areas in Korea, which have a plan to install advanced horticultural complexes. The characteristics of heating load through the thermal environment measurement of the greenhouse in Saemangeum were analyzed. The part to be applied to the environmental design of the greenhouses in reclaimed lands were reviewed. The overall heat transfer coefficient of the experimental greenhouse with the aluminum screen and multi-layer thermal curtain averaged $3.79W/m^2^{\circ}C$. It represents a 44 % heat savings rate compared with plastic greenhouses with a single covering, which was significantly lower than that of the common greenhouses with 2-layer thermal curtains. This is because the experimental greenhouse was installed on reclaimed land and wind was stronger than the inland area. Among the total heating load, the transmission heat loss accounted for 96.4~99.9 %, and the infiltration loss and the ground heat exchange were low. Therefore, it is necessary to take countermeasures to minimize the transmission heat loss for greenhouses constructed in reclaimed lands. As the reclaimed land is located on the seaside, the wind is stronger than the inland area, and the fog is frequent. Especially, Saemangeum area has 2.6 times stronger wind speed and 3.4 times longer fog duration than the inland area. In designing the heating systems for greenhouses in reclaimed lands, it is considered that the maximum heating load should be calculated by applying the wind coefficient larger than the inland area. It is reasonable to estimate the operation cost of the heating system by applying the adjustment factor 10 % larger than the average in calculating the seasonal heating load.

Grid Based Nonpoint Source Pollution Load Modelling

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a grid based model for calculating the critical nonpoint source (NPS) pollution load (BOD, TN, TP) in Nak-dong area in South Korea. In the last two decades, NPS pollution has become a topic for research that resulted in the development of numerous modeling techniques. Watershed researchers need to be able to emphasis on the characterization of water quality, including NPS pollution loads estimates. Geographic Information System (GIS) has been designed for the assessment of NPS pollution in a watershed. It uses different data such as DEM, precipitation, stream network, discharge, and land use data sets and utilizes a grid representation of a watershed for the approximation of average annual pollution loads and concentrations. The difficulty in traditional NPS modeling is the problem of identifying sources and quantifying the loads. This research is intended to investigate the correlation of NPS pollution concentrations with land uses in a watershed by calculating Expected Mean Concentrations (EMC). This work was accomplished using a grid based modelling technique that encompasses three stages. The first step includes estimating runoff grid by means of the precipitation grid and runoff coefficient. The second step is deriving the gird based model for calculating NPS pollution loads. The last step is validating the gird based model with traditional pollution loads calculation by applying statistical t-test method. The results on real data, illustrate the merits of the grid based modelling approach. Therefore, this model investigates a method of estimating and simulating point loads along with the spatially distributed NPS pollution loads. The pollutant concentration from local runoff is supposed to be directly related to land use in the region and is not considered to vary from event to event or within areas of similar land uses. By consideration of this point, it is anticipated that a single mean estimated pollutant concentration is assigned to all land uses rather than taking into account unique concentrations for different soil types, crops, and so on.

영산강·섬진강수계 수변구역 토지매수 우선순위 산정에 관한 연구 -주암호 수변구역을 사례로 - (A Study on the Land Purchase Priority Measurement of the Riparian Areas in Yeongsan and Seomjin River Basin - Focusing on the Riparian Areas of the Juam Lake -)

  • Riparian areas are significant functional grounds for inhabiting ecological system on the river such as the self-regulation of the water quality and the foundation of important corridors. For such functional device to operate, consecutive land purchase scheme that prioritizes targeted areas with high pollutant load rate imposes sustainable development of the ecological riparian belt. The purpose of this study is focused on measuring the methodology for selecting land purchse order before establishing riparian belt in accordance with pollution loading estimation and the basin approach. The Yeongsan and Seomjin river which includes targeted areas of the land purchase have been classified into the large-medium-small(standard basin) influence areas based on their catchment rage, which than sub-divided the research area of Juam lake by 38 small basins and 223 units. Small basins with the high pollution load rates have been assessed as the first prioritized targets. For the second priority, the condition of the point pollutant sources, original area of the targets, original restored area were concerned. The final decision of the land purchase order targeted only those within 50 meter range from the basin. To validate the accumulated data, the on-site investigation went along the targeted zones, which the result shows that all prioritized areas included both point and non-point pollutant sources, and had not a small originally restored areas.

화강풍화토의 변형계수와 상대침하 관계식에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Relationship between Deformation and Relative Settlement for Weathered-granite)

  • 얕은 기초 설계와 시공을 위해 실시하는 평판재하시험 결과로부터 실제 기초지반의 침하량을 산정하고 있는데 국내에서 많이 시공되는 화강풍화토나 풍화암에 대한 현장 예측식이 없는 실정이다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 화강풍화토와 풍화암을 대상으로 현장 평판 재하시험을 실시하여 기초 크기별 침하량 거동을 분석하였다. 모형토조와 현장 재하시험에서 측정한 하중 ~ 침하 곡선을 일반적인 항복하중 판정법을 사용하지 않고 하중 ~ 상대침하(s/B, s : 침하량, B : 재하판폭) 관계로 정규화(Normalization)하여 분석하였다. 즉, 하중 ~ 상대 침하 개념으로 정규화한 결과, 재하판 직경에 관계없이 일정한 형태의 곡선을 나타내므로 현장의 지반조건과 상관성을 제시하였다.

TMDL 적용을 위한 소유역별 유출부하 특성 분석 (Estimation of Flow Loads Characteristics each Sub-watershed for TMDL)

  • 본 연구는 소유역별 토지피복특성을 분석하고, 각 소유역로부터 발생되는 비점오염원 부하 특성을 분석하여 각 소유역별로 토지피복특성에 적합한 오염부하 저감 대책을 수립할 수 있는 방법을 제시하는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. 연구대상유역은 무심천 유역으로 하였으며, 사용된 수질모형은 HyGIS-SWAT을 이용하였다. 토지피복도 분석에서 특정 분류항목이 50%이상의 토지피복 비율을 갖는 토지피복에 따라 시가화지역, 농업지역, 그리고 산림지역으로 구분하여 유출부하 특성을 분석하였다. 분석결과 유사량 및 영양염류의 연간 발생부하량의 크기는 농업지역, 산림지역, 시가화지역의 순서로 발생되는 것으로 분석되었다. 2번 소유역에 대해서 하천을 중심으로 버퍼구역을 설정하고 버퍼구역내 농업지역을 자연초지로 토지피복을 변화시켜 발생부하량을 분석하였다. 분석결과 토지피복변화는 변경전과 비교하여 토지피복변화는 농경지 면적이 소유역내 36.6%에서 27.9% 및 15.3%로 변화되는 것으로 나타났다 2번 소유역에 대한 유사발생량 및 영양염류 발생량 분석결과 유사발생량은 52%에서 약 46% 정도 감소하는 것으로 분석되었고, 영양염류의 경우에도 변경전보다 49% 34% 정도 감소하는 것으로 분석되었다. 향후 추가적인 연구는 각 소유역별로 다양한 오염부하 저감 대책 시나리오를 수립한 후 어떠한 저감대책이 효과적인지를 평가하는 연구를 수행하고자 한다.

아파트에서의 전기자동차 충전인프라 설계를 위한 요소 고찰 (Review of Design Components of Recharging Infrastructure for Electrical Vehicles in Apartments)

  • Electric vehicles (EVs) are the most promising alternative substitute to a significant amount of gasoline vehicles for climate friendly transportation. This paper conducted an EV consumer survey through the telephone for 200 residents living in apartments to predict the EV penetration level in the year 2020. The results of EV consumer survey revealed that EV will be penetrated to 10% of the total vehicles in rental apartments and to 23.6% of the total vehicles in apartments for sale(condominium) until 2020. High EV penetration level, however, will lead to an increase of power consumption and over loading of electrical installations. Integrating more electric vehicles, the capacity of transformer related in apartments should be checked to prevent the over loading of the transformer. This paper checked the possibility of over loading at transformer and suggested the load control system as one of the solutions to reduce the over loading of transformers in apartments. Also this paper reviewed other components that should be checked in the designing of EV recharging infrastructure in apartments.
