토지피복지도를 활용한 IUCN 생태계유형분류 국내 적용 (A Study on the Application of IUCN Global Ecosystem Typology Using Land Cover Map in Korea)

  • 인간 활동으로 광범위한 자연 생태계 변화로 지난 몇 세기 동안 전 세계적으로 생물다양성이 심각하게 위협받고 있다. 생태계의 변화 양상을 파악하는 것은 생물다양성 위협을 파악하고 관리하는 데 필수적이다. 이러한 필요성에 따라 IUCN 의회는 2019년에 생태계의 기능과 유형을 고려한 IUCN Global Ecosystem Typology(GET)를 구성했다. IUCN은 10개의 생태계 군계, 108개의 생태기능별 토지 유형(EFG; Ecological Functional Group)을 전 지구적 범위에서 지도로 제공하고 있다. IUCN GET 생태계의 유형 분류에 따르면 국내 생태계는 Realm (1수준)이 8개, Biome (2수준)이 18개, Group (3수준)은 41개 유형으로 분류된다. IUCN이 제공하는 GET의 경우 전 세계 규모로 제작되었기 때문에 해상도가 낮고 실질적인 토지 현황과 일치하지 않는 경우가 많다. 본 연구는 토지피복지도를 활용하여 국내 IUCN GET 유형 분류의 정확도를 높이고 실질적인 현황을 반영한 지도를 제작하고자 했다. 이를 위해 ① IUCN GET에서 제공하는 국내 GET 데이터 체계를 검토하고, ② 이를 국내 현황과 비교 분석하였다. 이 과정을 통해 GET의 한계와 활용 가능성을 평가하고 ③ 이후 국가자료를 최대한 활용하여 국내 현황을 반영한 국내 GET 유형 분류를 수행하였다. 본 연구는 토지피복지도와 기존 국가자료를 최대한 활용하여 국내 GET를 총 25개 유형으로 분류했다(Terrestrial Realm :9, Freshwater: 9 Marine-Terrestrial: 5, Terrestrial-Freshwater :1, Marine-Freshwater-Terrestrial:1). 기존 지도와 비교했을 때 수정된 국내 GET의 경우 'F3.2 Constructed lacustrine wetlands', 'F3.3 Rice paddies', 'F3.4 Freshwater aquafarms', 'T7.3 Plantations'가 면적이 가장 많이 축소되었다. 온대 산림(T2.2)의 면적이 가장 많이 늘어났고, 'MFT1.3 Coastal saltmarshes and reedbeds', 'F2.2 Small permanent freshwater lakes'등 3개 유형 또한 수정 후 GET 면적이 증가했다. 해당 과정을 통해 기존 GET에서 모든 EFG의 합이 국토 면적의 8.33배를 차지하던 기존의 지도를, 토지피복지도를 활용하여 총합이 국토 면적의 1.22 배가 되도록 수정하였다. 이를 통해 유형별 차이가 작고 정확성이 떨어진 기존의 EFG가 본 연구를 통해 개선 및 수정되었음을 확인하였다. 본 연구는 현장 요건을 반영한 데이터를 최대한 활용하여 GET 기준에 상응하는 한국의 GET 지도를 제작한 것에 그 의의가 있다.

상습침수 농경지의 토지평가를 위한 고도별 침수 잠재성 분석 - 경상남도 창녕군 이방면을 대상으로 - (Analysis of the Inundation Potential by Elevation for the Land Evaluation in the Potentially Inundated Farms - A Case Study in Ibang-myeon, Changnyeong-gun, Kyungsangnamdo -)

  • A large scale of riverside rearrangement has been recently done in the major rivers in Korea. So inundation possibility in agricultural area closed by these rivers has been higher than the possibility a few years ago. However, land use in this area has not been adjusted to a change of this situation near the rivers. Therefore, when typhoon or heavy rain is happened on this area, it can cause a large damage in agricultural area. This study analyzed inundation potentiality in agricultural area at Ibang-myeon, Changnyeong-gun, Kyeongnam-province, Korea by using the logistic regression model and the piecewise regression model. The first thing we did was to transfer the inundation area per elevation to the accumulated inundation area per elevation. This accumulated inundation area per elevation as an distribution function could be described by the logistic regression model(LRM), and piecewise regression model(PRM) could make it much more accurate to analyze the inundation area per elevation. As a result, the regression models derived from LRM and PRM showed $R^2$ over 0.950. The models derived from LRM and PRM in Ibang-myeon noted that frequently inundated area(FIA) was shown up to 12.12m in elevation, and potentially inundated area(PIA) was shown up to 14.60m in elevation. In FIA, regular agricultural activity would be impossible. And It would be not easy to continue the regular agricultural activity in PIA. So, this land should be rearranged to be used for a buffer zone for ecosystem protection, landscape conservation and things like that in riverside.

해상용 전자메일 시스템의 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of E-Mail System for Sea)

  • 육상과 해상 선박간의 통신은 육상 내에서의 통신과는 비교가 되지 않을 정도로 열악한 통신환경과 비싼 통신요금 체제를 가지고 있다. 해상의 경우 4800-9600bps의 통신 속도가 주류를 이루고 있지만, 이것마저 통신요금이 고가이기 때문에 마음껏 쓰지 못하고 있으며, 해상 통신의 특성을 잘 이해하지 못해 여러 가지 응용 어플리케이션 개발이 힘든 상황이다. 또한 고가의 효율적이지 못한 외국제품을 수입하여 사용함으로써 가장 기본이 되는 통신 인프라마저 외국에 의존해야 하는 실정이다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 기존 외국제품(Netverk, Marinet, Amosmail)의 벤치마킹 결과와 수요업체(KT(구, 한국통신) 위성사업부, 범양상선, 시도상선, 펜타텍, 한진 등)의 요구사항을 검토하여 얻어진 결과인 1) 통신 요금절감, 2) 업무용 프로그램과 연계, 3) 선박 사용자의 편리성, 4) 육상 서버 관리 기능에 초점을 맞추어 선박과 육상간의 E-Mail 시스템을 개발하였다.

겨울철 열섬 및 산소농도의 측정을 통한 주거지별 국지기후의 특성분석 (Analysis on Residential Micro Climate of the Urban Heat Island and Oxygen Concentration in Winter)

  • Rapid progress in urbanization has resulted in a change of the micro climate, especially in the urban area. In order to investigate the phenomenon of the heat island in the residential micro climate, a field survey was carried out by 4 sets of the residential type in Jeonju under typical winter synoptic condition. As analytic methode, it is used the comparison on the relation of the Land-to-Coverage Rate to Heat Island and Oxygen Concentration. And as a key question it is asked how stable characteristics of the micro climate will result from the survey of the Heat Island and the Oxygen Concentration, used as indicator. To ensure the trustworthy result of research, it is calculated the critical influence of the wind velocity and the Land-to-Covearage Rate. As a result of comparative analysis, it could be confirmed that the local temperatures in all sets of the residential type were higher than the average temperature in Jeonju. But the housing type A 'exclusive use for housing zone' has relativly the most stable and best living condition. On the contrary the residential type B and D has the worst toward the oxygen concentration in the time zone 9-12 a.m., which didn't reach the minimum of the oxygen concentration $20.5{\%}.$ It means that the higer the development and population density is, the worse is the situation of the Quality of Life in the residential types in accordance with the heat island and oxygon con­centration.

유역토지이용에 따른 북한강 상류 수계 부착조류에 대한 연구 (Ecological Study of Periphytons Along the Buk-han River Due To the Influence of Land Use Patterns)

  • 본 연구는 소양호 상류 유역의 지류 하천을 대상으로 부착조류의 생물학적 지수의 수질 대표성을 검토하였으며 총체적인 수질환경평가를 시도하였다. 북한강 상류의 4개 수계에 대한 하천(북천-한계천, 내린천, 인북천, 소양강)에서 배수구역을 중심으로 총 9개 지점을 조사 지점으로 선정하여 현장조사를 하였다. 하천 주변의 토지 이용은 농경지중심과 임야 중심으로 뚜렷한 분포차이를 보였고, 소양강 상류 하천 유역은, 농경지 중심 지역에서는 오염된 수역의 대표종인 남조강이 높은 출현률을 보였고, 임야 중심 지역에서는 남조강, 녹조강, 규조강이 비교적 고르게 출현하였다. 따라서 오염원의 분포와 부착조류의 현존량 및 군집 분포는 밀접한 연관이 있으며, BOD, SS 그리고 종다양도, 균등도의 생물지수들은 조사지점 대부분에서 유사한 값을 보였으며, 국내 하천에서 소양강 상류 하천 조사 지점의 하천 수질에 대해 전체적으로 빈부수성이며 양호하다는 단편적인 결과를 나타내었다. 따라서 하천수질과 영양 상태에 대한 평가에 사용되는 기존 생물지수 및 하천등급판정기준은 수체 내 영양염류에 민감하여 부영양화 판정에 효과적인 부착조류의 생지화학적 특성을 충분히 활용하지 못하였다.

소형선박을 위한 해상안전통신망 설계 (Design of the maritime safety network for small boat)

  • 우리나라에서 발생한 해양사고는 80%이상이 소형선박에 의한 것이며 이러한 소형선박들은 해상에서 안전을 위한 통신 설비를 구비하지 못하고 있는 실정이다. 그리고 현재 이용하고 있는 해상안전통신망의 체제가 1999년 이후GMDSS체제로 바뀌게 되면서 소형선박의 해양사고는 더욱 두드러지고 있다. 이렇게 된 원인에는 여러 가지가 있을 수 있으나 대표적으로 소형선박의 운영자가 영세하기 때문에 고가의 통신장비의 도입이 어려운데 있다. 그리고 이미 이러한 소형선박들의 거의 대부분이 육상의 이동통신시스템을 이용하는 빈도가 늘고 있으므로 이를 합리적으로 이용하기 위한 방편을 마련하는 것이 타당하다. 이 논문에서는 소형선박을 위한 해상안전통신망을 육상의 이동통신시스템을 이용하여 우리나라의 현실에 맞추어 설계 하고자한다.

OD구조 변화시 링크관측교통량으로부터 OD추정모형의 추정력에 관한 연구 (The performance of OD estimation from link traffic counts in varying OD matrix structure)

  • Previous OD matrix estimation methods from link traffic counts have focused on the formulation of mathematical model and its solution algorithm. Thereby those methods have assumed that true or real OD is similar to the target OD and paid little attention to the properties of the change of OD structure. Although it is general situation that each OD pair increases or decreases due to significant land use and to large time variation between target OD with real OD, those methods have set unrealistic assumptions that target OD increases or decreases uniformly and that the OD structure does not change. Therefore those methods have showed poor performance of OD estimation in general situation. To cope with the problem. this paper suggests a new concept of OD matrix structure and shows the shortcomings of previous method′s dependancy on target OD matrix. We divide "OD trips" into "OD scale" and "OD structure". Where OD scale is a quantitative magnitude of OD trips and "OD structure" is ordinal OD scale. This paper use the same solution algorithm developed by Baek et al. (2000) for analysing the OD structure. Results of numerical examples show that the performance of the method is better than that of previous methods, while the previous methods have better performance in estimation only when OD trips increase or decrease. In addition to, if OD structure does not change, the results show that the error of estimation is low relatively regardless of the large difference of trips between target OD and real OD. This paper also shows that the model performance on OD structure and on OD trips is low as the number of origins that OD structure is changed increase. From the results we suggest that the change of OD structure can be more important information than the difference between target OD and real OD in OD estimation steps.

Evaluating Relay Beamwidth for Enhanced Coverage and Data Rates in Buoy-Assisted Maritime Communications

  • Maritime activities are on the rise, there is a growing demand for high-quality communication services that can cover larger areas. However, the transmission of high data rates to maritime users is challenging due to path loss from land base stations, which limits the transmission power. To overcome this challenge, researchers have been exploring the use of buoys in a marine environment as relays for communication technology. This paper proposes a simulation-based approach to investigate the impact of various beamwidths on communication performance when using a buoy as a relay. The objective is to determine the optimal beamwidth that yields the highest data rate for the target location. The approach is based on an offshore wave model where the direction of the buoy changes according to the height of the wave. The study investigates the performance of the relay in the downlink situation using receive beamforming, and the capacity at the user in the three-hop situation is verified using an amplify-and-forward (AF) relay that uses transmit beamforming to the user. The simulation results suggest that the beamwidth of the relay should be adjusted according to the wave conditions to optimize the data rate and relay position that satisfies a data rate superior to the direct path to the target position. Using a buoy as a relay can be a promising solution for enhancing maritime communications, and the simulation-based approach proposed in this paper can provide insights into how to optimize beamwidth for effective communication system design and implementation. In conclusion, the study results suggest that the use of buoys as relays for maritime communication is a feasible solution for expanding coverage and enhancing communication quality. The proposed simulation-based approach provides a useful tool for identifying relay beamwidths for achieving higher data rates in different wave conditions. These findings have significant implications for the design and deployment of communication systems in maritime environments.

Current situation and future prospects for global beef production: overview of special issue

  • The demand for beef as a protein source is increasing worldwide, although in most countries beef accounts for considerably less than half of total meat consumption. Beef also provides a highly desirable eating experience in developed countries and, increasingly, in developing countries. The sustainability of beef production has different meanings in the various geographical and socio-economic regions of the world. Natural resources including land mass and uses, rainfall and access to livestock feed, and the robustness of the economy are major determinants of the perception of beef sustainability. In this overview of the 2016 International Symposium on "Future Beef in Asia" and this subsequent Special Edition of the Asian-Australasian Journal of Animal Sciences on "Current Situation and Future Prospects for Global Beef Production", the contributions have been grouped into the following categories: Countries in Southeast Asia; Europe; and Countries producing highly marbled beef for export and/or domestic consumption. They also include reference to Special Topics including marbled beef production, and use of "omics" technologies to enhance beef quality assurance. Among these broad categories, notable differences exist across countries in the production and marketing of beef. These reflect differences in factors including natural resource availability and climate, population size, traditional culture and degree of economic development including industrial and technological developments. We trust that the International Symposium and this Special Edition on Current Situation and Future Prospects for Global Beef Production, the contents of which that are briefly summarized in this paper, will serve as a valuable resource for the livestock industries, researchers and students with an interest in enhancing the prospects for sustainable, efficient beef production that satisfies the growing size and complexity of consumer demands and markets for beef.

A Comparative Study on Office Building Criteria between G-SEED and LEED

  • G-SEED aims for establishing green environmental building with energy saving and has started for evaluating with multi-residential complex in 2002 by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure & Transport (MOLIT) and the Ministry of Environment to develop the current 10 building types and new & existing building types to be applied. Since G-SEED has been developed for more than 10 years, the strategy of globalization is needed with constant review itself and comparison between other assessments to understand current situation from the global perspectives. This study draws similarities and differences of G-SEED and LEED criteria by the comparison from re-constructed LEED criteria based on G-SEED. "Energy & Pollution" is the most concerned category in both assessments as the result of analysis on category rates. Next concerns are "Material & Resources", "Indoor Environment" and "Water Management". The unique categories in both criteria are "Ecological Environment" in G-SEED and "Innovation & Design Process" in LEED. The conclusion of this research is that two assessments are organized at different locations and with different strategies for developing green building but there are common concerns such as energy saving, material use, indoor environment. As a result, it is expected to use fundamental data for developing G-SEED for global standard.
