Comparative Analysis on luminous efficiency of bulb type LED lamps using both photogoniometer and integrating shpere (절대광속 측정기와 적분구를 이용한 벌브타입 LED 램프의 광효율 측정분석)

  • This paper gives a comparative analysis on the luminous efficiency of the bulb type LED lamps. we compare and analyze the measurement values bulb type LED lamps using both photogoniometer and integrating sphere. The volt and watt of one 1map are 220 V and 7 W, respectively. The volt and watt of other one are 100 V and 5.3 W, respectively. the values of those were 79.7 1m/W and 76.9 1m/W in the integrating sphere, respectively. Similarly, the values of those were 80.2 1m/W and 79.3 1m/W on the photogoniometer, respectively. As a result, the value of luminous efficiency can be measured using either integrating sphere or absolute goniometer regardless of the difference in case of bulb type LED lamps.

  • In recent, there have been several developments in lamp technology that promise savings in electrical power consumption and improved quality of the lighting space. Above all, the advantage of ring-shaped electrodeless fluorescent lamp is the removal of internal electrodes and heating filaments that are a light-limiting factor of conventional fluorescent lamps. The ring-shaped electrodeless lamp is intended as a high efficacy replacement for the incandescent reflector lamp in many applications. Therefore, the life time of ring-shaped electrodeless fluorescent lamps is substantially higher than that of conventional fluorescent lamps and last up to 60,000 hours. In this paper, maxwell 3D finite element analysis program (Ansoft) was used to obtain electromagnetic properties associated with the coil and nearby structures. The electromagnetic emitting properties were presented by 3D simulation software operated at 250[kHz] and some specific conditions.

  • In this paper, we analyzed causes of accidents that recently increased in the illegal and defective LED lamps. They were analyzed by the electrical characteristics calculation and reappearance experiments. The causes of the accidents were analyzed from the circuit affected by the variation of voltage, current and power by harmonics. We drew a conclusion for electrical safety in illegal or degraded LED lamps from the analysis result. The management factors for electrical safety in LED lamps were harmonics, reactive power and power factor. It is possible to secure the electrical safety through monitoring of power factor in failure products and available in smart meters or smart distribution boards.

  • Vehicle lightings are very important for safe driving during night time. Since the eye recovery time after an exposure to oncoming headlights would take after several seconds, the aiming point of vehicle head lamps have to pass safety requirements. Despite the fact that vehicle inclination is variable with vehicle load conditions, the head lamps aiming point is usually fixed at a constant position which is set by car manufacturer. Consequently, vehicle head lamps under varying load conditions often make people in the opposing vehicle uncomfortable, and even worse, can cause an accident. This paper presents an active vehicle lighting mechanism to automatically adjust its aiming point, or cut-off line, in order to compensate the change in vehicle inclination resulting from load variations. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through a set of simulations and experiments with a real vehicle.

In this paper, electron temperature and electron density were measured in a radio-frequency inductively coupled plasma using a Langmuir probe method for emission characteristics. Measurement was conducted in an argon discharge for pressure from 10 [mTorr] and input RF power 100 [W] to 150 [W]. As for the electron density, a electron temperature was more distinguished for a emission characteristic. The results of ideal may contribute to systematic understanding of a electrodeless fluorescent lamps of emission characteristics.

Optical Simulation of Direct-type Backlight Unit for Medical Application

  • In this study, it was investigated about optical simulation in direct-type backlight design. Direct-type backlight has been used high-brightness backlight such as medical LCD application. The key parameter in designing direct-type backlight was consists of three geometrical dimension such as the distance of two lamps, the gap of lamp and reflection plate and the number of lamps. It has many of variations in optical design and it causes the different properties in backlight system. It shows the best values of above parameters; 26 mm of the distance of two lamps, 4.5 mm of the gap of lamp and reflection plate and 16 lamps. And we produced the specimen as above condition, and acquired good result in backlight such as the value of the brightness is 6423 nit in center of emission area and less than 5 % in brightness uniformity. It shows the effective ways of designing backlight system using optical simulation method for medical LCD application.

  • This paper carried out a variety of analysis for a finding out the causes of fire on the street lamp. The glass bulb of 250W metal-halide(MH) lamps attached with the impurities rose the temperature by at $410.4^{\circ}$ in normal condition. Therefore, a lamp apparatus is needed the improvement for ventilation and the protection against dust. The heat of MH lamps is diffused through out the luminous tube, a glass bulb, and apparatus by degrees. The accident cause of the lamp is presumed that the accumulated heat by deposits of the inner part. It will be recommended the improvement of the structure that aren't the external impurity and accumulated heat in the MH lamps set.

  • In this paper, a new control method is presented to reduce acoustic resonance phenomena of metal halide lamps with electronic ballasts. A behavior of frequency controlled resonant inverter is analyzed and the transfer function is obtained. An integrator as a current controller for ballast is employed. By using both a disturbance of the lamp power and spread spectrum effects for reducing acoustic resonance, an amplitude modulation is done by using the current controller with 200[Hz] sinusoidal wave. Arc stabilities of MH 250[W] lamps are studied with changing the modulation index. Experiments with two MH 250[W] lamps, made by different manufacturers, showed the validity of the proposed method.

Feasibility Study of UV-Disinfection for Water Reuse of Effluent from Wastewater Treatment Plant (용수재이용을 위한 하수처리 유출수의 UV 소독 효율 연구)

  • The feasibility study of UV-disinfection system was performed for disinfection of effluent from wastewater treatment plant. Three low-pressure UV lamps of 17, 25, and 41 W were examined with various flow rates. Low-pressure UV lamps of 17W were examined with various turbidity, DOM (dissolved organic matter), and SS (suspended solid). The pilot plant was a flow-through type UV-disinfection system, and the range of exposure time varied from 5 to 40 seconds, turbidity from 0 to 40 NTU, DOM from 0 to 30 mg/L, and SS from 10 to 40 mg/L. The 41W lamp demonstrated complete disinfection showing no survival ratio in all the experimental conditions, and generally 17W and 25W lamps also showed high removal ratio over 97%. For the same UV dose (UV intensity times exposure time), high intensity-short exposure conditions showed better disinfection efficiency than low intensity-long exposure conditions. While the effects of turbidity and DOM were not apparent, the effects of SS was significant on the disinfection efficiency which indicates that SS control before UV-disinfection appears to be necessary to increase removal efficiency. Considering characteristics of effluent from existing wastewater treatment plants, cost-effectiveness, stable performance, and minimum maintenance, the flow-through type UV-disinfection system with high intensity and low-pressure lamps was thought to be a competitive disinfection system for wastewater reclamation.

A Research on the Improvement of Visibility Using Low Deck Lighting in Bad Weather (악천후 시 낮은 도로조명을 이용한 도로 시인성 향상에 대한 연구)

  • We investigate a fog-detection CCT control system using low deck lighting as a solution to the forward visibility of pole-type street lamps employed on existing roads. The lighting standards were met with a light source that has less compared with those of pole-type street lamps. The results show that the transmission rate was increased by changing the color temperature by automatically recognizing fog in bad weather and minimizing the phenomenon of lighting. In addition, it was allowed to create a safer and more comfortable driving environment for drivers owing to flicker or light pollution of existing pole-type street lamps. As a result, if lighting is used at a lower level than pole-type street lamps, the accident rate caused by securing the driver's forward visibility can be reduced sharply and existing problems can be resolved.
