Background and Objectives: Dizzy patients with abnormal otolith function tests, despite a normal caloric response, are defined as having specific (isolated) otolith organ dysfunction. This study was performed to compare the differences in clinical presentation between isolated otolith dysfunction (iOD) patients with lab- and Sx-based iOD group and lab-based iOD symptoms. Subjects and Methods: The medical records of 23 iOD patients with normal caloric response but abnormal cervical vestibular evoked myogenic potential (VEMP), ocular VEMP, or subjective visual vertical were reviewed. Non-spinning vertigo was considered as otolith-related symptoms. The patients' age, onset of dizziness, Numeric Rating Scale on the severity of dizziness, and concomitant vestibular disorders were analyzed. Results: Patients in the lab-based iOD group were significantly older than those in the lab- and Sx-based iOD group. Known vestibular disorders were significantly more common in the lab-based iOD group (83.3%) compared to the lab- and Sx-based iOD group (18.2%). Despite the normal caloric response, catch-up saccade was found in the video head impulse test in more than half (54.5%) of the lab-based iOD group patients. There was no catch-up saccade in the lab- and Sx-based iOD group. There were no significant differences in gender ratio, frequency of dizziness attacks, and duration of illness. Conclusions: We propose new definitions of definite iOD (lab- and Sx-based iOD) and probable iOD (lab- or Sx-based iOD). These new definitions may help researchers to identify patients who are more likely to have true iOD, and facilitate comparisons of results between different studies.

Feasibility of floating aquatic plants (Eichhornia crassipes and Water dropwort) was investigated in order to control of sewage depending on various initial loading in a lab scale test. In addition, field test was conducted to assess the uptake rate of nutrient by E. crassipes. Lab-scale test applying primary domestic effluent operated at 4 day HRT shows that the highest uptake rates were 1.06 g N/$m^2{\cdot}day$ and 0.39 g P/$m^2{\cdot}day$ in the E. crassipes reactor. BOD removal efficiency in E. crassipes reactor was as high as 80% when the loading value was lower than 185 kg BOD/$ha{\cdot}day$. While 70 ~ 80% removal efficiency of BOD was achieved when the loading value was lower 80 kg BOD/$ha{\cdot}day$ at the W. Dropwort reactor. Experiment results show that E.crassipes has a higher nutrients removal efficiency than W. dropwort under high pollutant loading. Input loadings of TN and TP should not exceed to 10 kg TN/$ha{\cdot}day$ and 2.0 kg TP/$ha{\cdot}day$ respectively to provide a 50% TN and 80% TP removal efficiencies using E. crassipes. The field test demonstrated that an annual yield of E. crassipes mass was estimated as a fresh weight of 30.9 $m^3/ha{\cdot}yr$. E. crassipes grown in field pads absorbed 76.7 kg N/$ha{\cdot}yr$ and 13.4 kg P/$ha{\cdot}yr$ as a dry weight.

It is an urgent issue to manage and reduce non-point pollution sources for improving the water quality of stream and lakes in rural areas. In this study, in order to reduce non-point pollution sources in rural area, Gabion mattresses was proposed to provide protection of riverbanks with anaerobic and aerobic area. The utilization of this was assessed by lab scale model test and pilot plant test. After filling the inside of the gabion mattresses with aggregate, the filtration zone under anaerobic and aerobic conditions was formed to treat the contaminants. In addition, vegetation was deposited on the surfae of the gabion to prevent the inflow of soil and to promote purification by the plant. COD and nitrogen content (T-N, $NH_4{^+}$, -N, $NO_3{^-}N$) were monitored in model and field tests. The lab scale model test showed removal efficiency of 17% of TCOD, 35% of SCOD, 14% of TN, 62% of $NH_4{^+}$, -N, and 33% of $NO_3{^-}$ N. Also, pilot plant test showed removal efficiency of 24% of TCOD, 29% of SCOD, 47% of TN, 50% of $NH_4{^+}-N$, 33% of $NO_3{^-}$, N and 29% of TP.

In this study, squeal noise test was conducted by using the lab-scaled brake dynamometer. Squeal conditions with respect to the angle of the brake pads ($34^{\circ}30^{\circ}26^{\circ}$) and negative slope, were studied. Squeal frequency of the In-plane-like mode was confirmed by hammering test and finite element analysis. This Squeal mode was difficult to control by the pad angle variation. Also the squeal sound was found to be periodic signal which has higher harmonic components. Squeal noise is independent of the negative slope. It implies that squeal noise can reach the stick-slip oscillation.
In order to investigate the possibility of EPDM micro cellular pad (MCP) as an impact sound insulation product, we studied static/dynamic properties and vibration transfer characteristics of EPDM MCP depending on shape, thickness, degrees of foaming by using material test system (MTS) and lab scale mock-up test apparatus. Static/dynamic rigidity is increased when shape is simple. thickness and degrees of foaming low. We could see that dynamic stiffness is proportional to the transmissibility of EPDM MCP. When dynamic stiffness is increased, characteristic peak at transmissibility curve moves high frequency range or snows increase of maximum value of transmissibility. For lab scale mock-up test and finite element method, EPDM MCP shows low vibration velocity and superior mode shape to just concrete plus slab structure. We could confirm that possibility of EPDM MCP as a impact sound insulation product is high.

In the reactor following the American standard test method (ASTM) D5757-95 and lab-scale fluidized bed combustor, the attrition characteristics of sand and ash of Korean anthracite were investigated. The attrition characteristics, such as particle size distribution of fly ash, attrition rate, and attrition ratio etc, were studied with variation of gas velocities. The particle attrition of ash was more active than sand which was generally used as a fluidized material and also the attrition index of ash taken by ASTM D5757-95 was 5 times higher than that of sand. The formation of fine particles continuously occurred due to particle attrition with increasing gas velocities. The following equation has been suggested for attrition rate of ash. $$\frac{dW}{dt}=-3.18{\times}10^{-7}(U-U_{mf})W$$.
This study aimed to evaluate the inhalation resistance(IR) and fiber structure of disposable masks when exposed to repeated heating and ultraviolet(UV) sterilization. The experiments consisted of a lab-scale and a field test. For the lab-scale test, KF94 and N95 masks were selected and a trial was composed of three repetitions of an 80-min sterilization. For the field test, a subject participated over four days, of which a KF94 was worn without sterilization, and the same trial was conducted during the next four days with daily sterilization. The results showed that the IR of the KF94 mask(9.5 Pa) gradually increased according to the sterilization up to the second repetition(15.6 Pa) but decreased at the third treatment(9.7 Pa). However, the N95 mask did not showany tendency of IR during the repetitions. Microscope photos showed several warped or blackened fibers in the stiffener layer after the repeated sterilization. After wearing a KF94 mask for four consecutive days, its IR decreased until the three days but increased the fourth day, whereas another KF94 mask with sterilization showed an increase in IR for the four days. In the microscope-photos after the consecutive four days, outside fibers and stiffener layers were warped or became less dense. In summary, the IR of the KF94 mask slightly increased through the three~four rounds of heating and UV sterilizations, but the fiber structures were not significantly deformed by the repeated sterilization. To reduce discarded mask waste, the repeated sterilization of masks can be recommended.
Agreeable to the latest enviromental problem, CCS(Carbon Capture&Storage) technology is more significant. As these issues, Oxy-Combustion is one of the technology that realize the CCS technology and large scale field test proceeding at other places. The aims of this research were to evaluate the combustion characteristics of pressurized oxy-combusition that is attract attention as the next generation power plant. The experiments were conducted using a laboratory-scale pressuized oxy-combustor. The fuel used was low calorific value syn-gas that is mainly composed of CO(60%), $H_2$(27%). The burner was used co-axial burner, to investigate combustion characteristics, temperature in the reactor and the flue gas compositions were measured.

This study examined the dynamic response of a subsea pipeline under an impact load to determine the effect of the seabed soil. A laboratory-scale soil-based pipeline impact test was carried out to investigate the pipeline deformation/strain as well as the interaction with the soil-pipeline. In addition, an impact test was simulated using the finite element technique, and the calculated strain was compared with the experimental results. During the simulation, the pipeline was described based on an elasto-plastic analysis, and the soil was modeled using the Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion. The results obtained were compared with ASME D31.8, and the differences between the analysis results and the rules were specifically investigated. Modified ASME formulae were proposed to calculate the precise structural behavior of a subsea pipeline under an impact load when considering sand- and clay-based seabed soils.
