The purpose of this study is to analyze the EGG measures from Lx Speech Studio program (Laryngograph Ltd, UK) in patient with vocal nodule. Thirty female adults (15 patient with vocal nodule, 15 normal speaker) produced sustained vowel and read the passage. They were grouped into three groups based on Grade (GRBAS) : normal-G0, nodule-Gl, nodule-G2. Estimates of Fx (Hz), Qx(%), Jitter, Shimmer, and HNR were made from a 500msec midportion of vowel. In addition, DFx(Hz), DQx(%), CFx(%) and CAx(%) were obtained from reading the passage. These data were compared among groups. The results were as follow Jitter, Shimmer, HNR were significantly higher in nodule-G2 group than in normal-G0 & patient-Gl group. In nodule-G2 group, CFx and CAx from reading passage were significantly higher. For patients with nodule, asymmetry or irregularity were observed in graphs of QxFx ＆ CFx provided by Quantitative Analysis.

We examined and corrected the periodic error of the LX200-16 Telescope driving system of Chungbuk National University Campus Observatory. Before correcting, the standard deviation of the periodic error in the direction of East-West was $\sigma$=7."2. After correcting, we found that the periodic error was reduced to $\sigma$=1."2.

The effects of various nitrogen soruces on the expression of nif gene were investigated using nif-lac fusants of Klebsiella pneumoniae. K. pneumoniae UK 2979 was infected with Mudl lysate prepared by heat induction of K. pneumoniae UK 4482. About 80 nif-lac fusants were greatly repressed. Amino acids, such as serine, glutamine and asparagine, were found to support the growth of K. pneumoniae M5al quite well, and showed a repressive effect on .betha.-galactosidase activities of nif-lac fusants LX-9 and LX-22 in NFHM. Glutamic acid, histidine and arginine rendered poor growth but high activities of .betha.-galactosidase. Good cell growth and high enzyme activity were observed when complex nitrogen sources, such as casitone, proteose pepone, were employed. .betha.-Galactosidase activities of LX-9 and LX-22 in nitrogen free minimal medium increased sharply within first 4 hours.

In this paper, the illuminance distribution of blackboards on classroom in elementary, junior, and senior high school was measured and analyzed. Generally, average illuminance and uniformity of illuminance was 519[lx] and 0.543 (elementary: 389[lx], 0.387; junior: 632[lx], 0.570; senior: 527[lx], 0.608) respectively. When all lighting fixtures in each classroom were turned on, average illuminance was higher about 65% than lights-out, and, in case that local lighting fixtures exist, was higher 27% than absence, but uniformity of illuminance turned bad on the contrary ($0.462{\rightarrow}0.676$). According to classification into direction of windows on classroom. facing north, both were bad. In case of classroom to slant to east or west, the difference of illuminance at the forenoon and afternoon was big, and uniformity of illuminance was also bad.

This paper describes the proceeding experimental results to replace the 32 [W] fluorescent lamp installed in subway train to a LED module. We fabricated 25 [W] LED modules to meet the illuminance 300 [lx] specified in the standard for subway train. After the installation of LED modules, comparative analysis with conventional fluorescent lamps was carried out. From the experimental results, illuminances on the height of 0.85 [m] and 1 [m] above floor were 323 [lx] and 360 [lx], respectively. These illuminances satisfied the requirement 300 [lx]. By the application of 25 [W] LED module as a light source in subway train, energy saving about 22 [%] compared with 32 [W] fluorescent is acquired. Also, low cost of maintenance is expected due to 8 times longer lifetime 50,000 hours of LED than that 6,000 hours of fluorescent lamp.

The first original inducer of interferon had been synthesized in Russia in 1965-1967. Behavioral response to a diel photoperiodicity (500 lx for 16 h, 5 lx for 4 h and < 0.5 lx for 4 h) and phototactic characteristics in dark conditions were examined with Siberian sturgeon Acipenser baerii (Chondrostei, Actinopterygii) prelarvae. Siberian sturgeon prelarvae represented both qualitative and quantitative changes in their behavioral patterns according to different light intensities in a diel photoperiodicity. Under daylight conditions (500 lx), prelarvae displayed saltatory changes of behavioral features with ages (Day 0-Day 9) in a general order of swimming-up/drifting, swimming in the upper water column, benthic swimming with rheotaxis, schooling and post-schooling behavior. Compared to daylight conditions, prelarvae tended to show more benthic performances and quantitative reductions of schooling and post-schooling behaviors under dimlight conditions (5 lx). Under dark conditions (< 0.5 lx), prelarvae exhibited a fairly uniform behavioral pattern characterized by the benthic swimming across the bottom of the tank. From phototaxis tests under dark conditions, navigational responses of prelarvae to a spotlight illumination were quantitatively changed as their ages increased. The phototactic responses reached the peak on Day 2, continued until Day 4, and then gradually decreased until Day 8. A partial recovery of positive phototaxis was observed on Day 9. Data from this study suggest that the diel light cycle as well as the light intensity of each interval in the cycle should be considered as important components of a practical guide for evaluating fitness and developmental states of artificially propagated Siberian sturgeon prelarvae.

Artemisia capillaris (A. capillaries) is known to play roles in many cellular events, such as cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. We investigated the antifibrogenic efficacy of A. capillaris in the immortalized human hepatic stellate cell line LX2. Cell proliferation was determined by the MTT assay. Cell cycle was analyzed by the flow cytometry. Apoptotic cells were measured using a cell death detection ELISA. Caspase activity was detected by a colorimetric assay. The mRNA level of Bcl-2 and Bax mRNA were measured by real-time PCR. MEK and ERK protein were detected by Western blot analysis. We provide evidence that A. capillaris induces cell cycle arrest, apoptosis, and potently inhibits the mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway. A. capillaris inhibited cell proliferation of LX2 cells in a dose- and time-dependent manner, increased the apoptosis fraction at cell cycle analysis with an accompanying DNA fragmentation, and resulted in a significant decrease in Bcl-2 mRNA levels and an increase in Bax expression. Exposure of LX2 cells to A. capillaris induced caspase-3 activation, but co-treatment of A. capillaris with the pan-caspase inhibitor Z-VAD-FMK, and the caspase-3 inhibitor Z-DEVE-FMK, blocked apoptosis. A. capillaris down-regulated Mcl-1 protein levels and inhibited phosphorylation of MEK/ERK, suggesting that it mediates cell death in LX2 cells through the down-regulation of Mcl-1 protein via a MEK/ERK-independent pathway.
