  • In this paper, we propose the CPW antenna with three folded lines for miniaturization. This antenna is consisted of a meander-line on the middle position for LTE band and two folded lines. As widths of three lines are gradually changed to broaden bandwidth, antenna is designed.

An Satellite Communication Wireless Package System Using Analysis of Channel Interference between ISM band Systems (ISM 대역 시스템간 채널 간섭 분석을 통한 위성 통신 무선 패키지시스템 적용)

  • In this paper, when WLAN repeater of satellite communication package system as a novel wireless disaster communication network connected to LTE D2D mobile terminal, we analyzed radio channel interference from WLAN and WPAN system of adjacent same ISM band using Monte-Carlo method. In this study, WLAN cell radius was determined using Extended Hata Model considering practical environment, and simulated physical protection distance and density in the dense-mode to minimize interference from WLAN, Bluetooth, and ZigBee. Simulation results, WLAN repeater can be operated with 15 WLAN interferer over 130m distance, 23 Bluetooth interferer over 100m distance, and with 62 ZigBee interferer over 83m distance.

  • This paper presents a Doherty power amplifier(DPA) operating in the 2.6 GHz band for long term evolution(LTE) systems. In order to achieve high efficiency, second and third harmonic impedances are controlled using a compact output matching network. The DPA was implemented using a gallium nitride high electron mobility transistor(GaN-HEMT) that has many advantages, such as high power density and high efficiency. The implemented DPA was measured using an LTE downlink signal with a 10 MHz bandwidth and 6.5 dB PAPR. The implemented DPA exhibited a gain of 13.1 dB, a power-added efficiency(PAE) of 57.6 %, and an ACLR of -25.7 dBc at an average output power of 33.4 dBm.

A Transimpedance Amplifier Employing a New DC Offset Cancellation Method for WCDMA/LTE Applications

  • In this paper, a transimpedance amplifier based on a new DC offset cancellation (DCOC) method is proposed for WCDMA/LTE applications. The proposed method applies a sample and hold mechanism to the conventional DCOC method with a DC feedback loop. It prevents the removal of information around the DC, so it avoids signal-to-noise ratio degradation. It also reduces area and power consumption. It was designed in a $0.13{\mu}m$ deep n-well CMOS technology and drew a maximum current of 1.58 mA from a 1.2 V supply voltage. It showed a transimpedance gain of $80dB{\Omega}$, an input-referred noise current lower than 0.9 pA/${\surd}$Hz, an out-of-band input-referred 3rd-order intercept point more than 9.5 dBm, and an output DC offset lower than 10 mV. Its area is $0.46mm{\times}0.48mm$.

Miniature Staircase-Shaped Wideband MIMO Antenna with Excellent Isolation, Compliant to the SAR Standard (SAR규격을 만족하는 우수한 격리도의 소형 계단구조 광대역 MIMO 안테나)

  • This paper proposes a novel compact MIMO antenna which has miniaturized radiators and their row correlation coefficient, working for the LTE mobile communication, and its SAR is observed. Each of the proposed radiators has a shape of staircase and the bandwidth is twice larger than the conventional PIFA as 600MHz(21%) in 2.5 GHz - 3.15 GHz. And the area of the radiators is $16.5mm{\times}9.7mm$ proper for a handheld device. Also, by adding a planar mushroom decoupling structure between the radiators, the isolation is improved. The design has been carried out using the commercial full-wave time-domain EM solver and the finalized MIMO antenna has the return loss less than -10 dB in the LTE band, the isolation better than 20 dB and the efficiency more than 90% with the gain of 4.3 dB. Regarding the SAR of the antenna, it is observed that the average SAR value of 1g is estimated as 1.37W/Kg, which is lower than the SAR standard.

  • This papart proposes single pole double throw (SPDT) switch with six-stage radial stub resonators in the 3.6~4.0 GHz band. The switch was simulated using ADS (Advanced Design Software), a design tool for the wireless communication circuits, and evaluated on a pcb substrate. The measurement results of the radial SPDT switch showed an average 90 dB isolation, and 1.5 dB insertion loss. This isolation characteristic was 20 dB superior to higher than those laboratory or commercial products reported thus far. The proposed SPDT switch is applicable to multi-band RF front-end systems, such as WiMAX, LTE/5G, Wi-Fi, and HyperLAN.

  • 최근 전자기술이 발달함에 따라, 전자기기의 집적도가 높아지고 있으며, 그에 따라 전자기적 간섭(Electromagnetic Interference)이 큰 문제로 대두되고 있다. 특히, 집적도가 높은 스마트 기기(Smart Device)의 AP(Applicaton Processor)의 경우, 여러 기능을 수행하는 부품이 집적된 SOC(System On Chip)이기 때문에, 전자기적 간섭에 더 민감할 수 있다. 더불어 LTE(Long Term Evolution)을 무선통신으로 이용하는 다양한 주파수대에서 전자기적 간섭은 어플리케이션 및 전자기기의 오작동을 초래할 수 있다. 이를 해결하기 위하여 본 논문에서는 칩패캐지 레벨의 Meander 구조의 기존 필터(Filter)가 가진 문제점을 해결한 구조를 설계하여 3차원 상의 전자장 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 또한, 칩의 내성(Immunity)이 취약한 여러 주파수 범위를 차단할 수 있는 이 중 대역차단 필터(Dual Band Stop Filter)를 Meader Line구조를 단순하게 만들어 설계하고 그에 따른 결과를 분석하였다.

Design of Two-Stage CMOS Power Amplifier (이단으로 구성된 CMOS 전력증폭기 설계)

  • This paper presents a 2-stage CMOS power amplifier for the 1.75 GHz band using a $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS process. Using ADS simulation, a power gain of 28 dB and an efficiency of 45 % at an 1dB compression point of 27 dBm were achieved. The implemented CMOS power amplifier delivered an output power of up to 24.8 dBm with a power-added efficiency of 41.3 % and a power gain of 22.9 dB. For a 16-QAM uplink LTE signal, the PA exhibited a power gain of 22.6 dB and an average output power of 23.1 dBm with a PAE of 35.1 % while meeting an ACLR(Adjacent Channel Leakage Ratio) level of -30 dBc.

2.6 GHz GaN-HEMT Power Amplifier MMIC for LTE Small-Cell Applications

  • This paper presents a two-stage power amplifier MMIC using a $0.4{\mu}m$ GaN-HEMT process. The two-stage structure provides high gain and compact circuit size using an integrated inter-stage matching network. The size and loss of the inter-stage matching network can be reduced by including bond wires as part of the matching network. The two-stage power amplifier MMIC was fabricated with a chip size of $2.0{\times}1.9mm^2$ and was mounted on a $4{\times}4$ QFN carrier for evaluation. Using a downlink LTE signal with a PAPR of 6.5 dB and a channel bandwidth of 10 MHz for the 2.6 GHz band, the power amplifier MMIC exhibited a gain of 30 dB, a drain efficiency of 32%, and an ACLR of -31.4 dBc at an average output power of 36 dBm. Using two power amplifier MMICs for the carrier and peaking amplifiers, a Doherty power amplifier was designed and implemented. At a 6 dB back-off output power level of 39 dBm, a gain of 24.7 dB and a drain efficiency of 43.5% were achieved.

CNN-based Adaptive K for Improving Positioning Accuracy in W-kNN-based LTE Fingerprint Positioning

  • In order to provide a location-based services regardless of indoor or outdoor space, it is important to provide position information of the terminal regardless of location. Among the wireless/mobile communication resources used for this purpose, Long Term Evolution (LTE) signal is a representative infrastructure that can overcome spatial limitations, but the positioning method based on the location of the base station has a disadvantage in that the accuracy is low. Therefore, a fingerprinting technique, which is a pattern recognition technology, has been widely used. The simplest yet widely applied algorithm among Fingerprint positioning technologies is k-Nearest Neighbors (kNN). However, in the kNN algorithm, it is difficult to find the optimal K value with the lowest positioning error for each location to be estimated, so it is generally fixed to an appropriate K value and used. Since the optimal K value cannot be applied to each estimated location, therefore, there is a problem in that the accuracy of the overall estimated location information is lowered. Considering this problem, this paper proposes a technique for adaptively varying the K value by using a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) model among Artificial Neural Network (ANN) techniques. First, by using the signal information of the measured values obtained in the service area, an image is created according to the Physical Cell Identity (PCI) and Band combination, and an answer label for supervised learning is created. Then, the structure of the CNN is modeled to classify K values through the image information of the measurements. The performance of the proposed technique is verified based on actual data measured in the testbed. As a result, it can be seen that the proposed technique improves the positioning performance compared to using a fixed K value.
