  • In this paper, an LQG/LTR procedure for stable nonminimum phase systems is suggested using predictor scheme. In the method, the performance of the target feedback loop can be easily adjusted and the recovery error is less dependent on the location of NMP zeros than previous methods. The gain and phase margin and the robust ness for modeluncertainty of the suggested control system are obtained.

  • LQG/LTR method have a theoretical constraint that it cannot applied to nonminimum phase plant. In this paper, we suggest two methods of approximation of minimum phase plant for a given nonminimum phase plant to solve this constraint. Error is described by additive form which can reduce its magnitude in broad frequency range. A optimal approximation method was suggesetd by using Hankel operator theory and Nehari theory. It is showen by example that the methods suggested can resolve the frequency domain constraint arised in Stein and Athans approximation.

  • This paper describes the robust controller design methods applied to the problem of an automatic system for tow-vehicle/trailer combinations. This study followed an inverse Linear Quadratic Regulator(LQR) approach which combines pole assignment methods with conventional LOR methods. It overcomes two concerns associated with these separate methods. It overcomes the robustness problems associated with pole placement methods and trial and error required in the application of the LQR problem. Moreover, a Kalman filter is used as the observer, but is modified by using the loop transfer recovery (LTR) technique with modified transmission zero assignment. The proposed inverse LQG,/LTR controllers enhances the forward motion stability and maneuverability of the combination vehicles. At high speeds, where the inherent yaw damping of the vehicle system decreases, the controller operates to maintain an adequate level of yaw damping. At backward moton, both 4WS (2WS tow-vehicle, 2WS trailer) and 6WS (4WS tow-vehicle, 2WS trailer) control laws are proposed by using inverse LQG/LTR method. To evaluate the stability and robustness of the proposed controllers, simulations for both forward and backward motion were conducted using a detailed nonlinear model. The proposed controllers are significantly more robust than the previous controllers and continues to operate effectively in spite of parameter perturbations that would cause previous controllers to enters limit cycles or to loose stability.

  • In ground vehicles, the increasing demand for safety and ride comfort which are trade-off relation, especially at high speeds, has led to the development od actively controlled suspensions. The LQG/LTR controller can be used to design a robust feedback control system that deals with disturbance rejection properties as well as insensitivity to modelling errors and sensor noise. And when the disturbance can not be measured but is limited within a certain frequency range, a bandpass feedback to eliminate the disturbance response can be used. In this paper, hybrid controller cosisted of bandpass feedback controller and LQG/LTR controller is applied to a quarter-car model moving on a randomly profiled road. The random road profile considered as colored noise is shaped from white noise by use of shaping filter. The performance of the hybrid control system is compared with that of an LQG/LTR controlled system.

  • LQG/LTR control scheme is applied to the two axes stage using piezoelectric actuator for tracking reference input and suppressing hysteresis effect in this paper. The plant is combined with an integrator to improve the tracking ability. LQG/LTR controller is designed by making desirable target filter loop remove all poles except for an integrator included in new design plant model and loop transfer recovery. Decoupler in the shape of FIR filter is added to remove the coupling effect between the two axes motion and so feedback control loop is designed independently for the each axis motion.

  • In this paper,we consider a LQG problem subject to the stochastic multirate system. By restating the problem as a periodic LQG problem, it is pointed out that the lack of measurements and control inputs in some time instants makes the problem singular. A method of transforming the problem into a nonsingular one enables us to obtain the solution, however which gives a resulting value of the LQG cost and the setimation error dynamic different with those of the original system. As a consequence, we present a optimal value of the original cost and the estimation error covariance of the original system, which are expressed by periodic Lyapunov equation respectively. The evaluation resulte can be exploited in comparing the control system performances and specifying the sampling rates.

  • This paper presents an inchworm with three piezoelectric actuators. The dynamic stiffness of the inchworm is generally low compared to its driving condition, so mechanical vibration may degenerate the motion accuracy of the inchworm. The dynamic model of inchworm is identified by curve fitting technique based on the experimental frequency response function. For the precision motion control and low residual vibration of inchworm, driving input signal is designed by using cycloid step input and LQG control technique. Experimental result shows that proposed input shaping method is applicable effectively to the inchworm.

  • Recently, real-time visual tracking control for a robot manipulator is performed by using a vision feedback sensor information. In this paper, the optical flow is computed based on the eye-in-hand robot configuration. The image jacobian is employed to calculate the rotation and translation velocity of a 3D moving object. LQG visual controller generates the real-time visual trajectory. In order to improving the visual tracking performance. VSC controller is employed to control the robot manipulator. Simulation results show a better visual tracking performance than other method.

  • A $H_{\infty}$self-tuning control scheme for the tip position of a flexible link robot handling unknown loads is presented here. The scheme essentially comprises a recursive least-squares identification algorithm and $H_{\infty}$self-tunning controller. The $H_{\infty}$control low is designed to be robust to uncertain parameters and the self-tunning action provides adaption to unknown parameters. Through numerical study, the performance comparison of the $H_{\infty}$self-tuning controller with a constant gain $H_{\infty}$controller as well as a LQG self-tuning controller clearly shows its superior ability in handling load changes in quiescent states.nt states.

  • In this paper presented is a temperature controller for a semiconductor test handler. Using ARMAX model and least square method, the chamber model for the design of a controller is identified through experiment. With the identified model an LQG/LTR controller is designed. Experiment with a real test handler demonstrated good performance in that its overshoot is small and response time is fast.
