Comparison of L, LH, LQ-moments and Parameter Estimation of GEV Distribution (L, LH, LQ-모멘트의 비교와 GEV 분포의 매개변수 추정)

  • 본 연구에서는 Probability Weighted Moments의 새로운 선형조합기법인 LQ-moments를 이용하여 GEV 분포의 매개변수를 추정하고 L, LH, LQ-moments를 사용하여 뉴욕주의 Donnattsburg에 위치한 Independence River의 홍수량을 빈도 해석하였다. LH, LQ-moments가 제시된 근본적인 이유는 L-moments가 극치값에 내해 지나치게 민감한 단점을 보완하기 위해서인데, 이번 연구의 결과에 의하면 오히려 LH, LQ-moments가 극치값에 대해 민감하게 반응하여 부정확한 결과가 도출되었다. 그러므로 항상 LH, LQ-moments가 L-moments의 대안이 될 수 있는 것은 아님을 알게 되었다. 그리고 수학적 유도에서 L, LH, LQ-moments는 좀더 쉽고 간편한 메개변수 추정을 위해 Probability Weighted Moments의 선형조합을 통해 고안되었다는 공통점을 가지고 있지만, 이 점을 제외한 나머지 부분의 수식 유도에서는 서로 많은 차이가 있어서 지역적인 특성과 확률분포형의 특성을 고려하여 L, LH, LQ-moments 중에서 선별 사용해야 할 것이다.

A Study on the Effectiveness of ILQ Algorithm in Active Structural Control (건축 구조물의 능동 제진에 있어 ILQ 제어 알고리즘의 유용성에 관한 연구)

  • Various control algorithms are available to suppress the vibration of a system subjected to disturbances. LQ algorithm is simple and easy to implement the hardwares, but it lacks robustness for uncertainties and often causes difficulty in determining the weighting matrices. This study focuses on the effectiveness ILQ(Inverse Linear Quadratic optimal control) algorithm as the alternative to LQ applied to control the vibration of a building under the seismic excitation. The building is of moment resisting steel frames and assumed to behave within the elastic range. The brief overview of LQ and ILQ algorithms is introduced, and the displacement responses of the structure using ILQ algorithm are compared with those obtained from LQ control. The magnitude of control forces are also determined and compared for both LQ and ILQ algorithm.

Linear-Quadratic Detectors for Spectrum Sensing

  • Spectrum sensing for cognitive-radio applications may use a matched-filter detector (in the presence of full knowledge of the signal that may be transmitted by the primary user) or an energy detector (when that knowledge is missing). An intermediate situation occurs when the primary signal is imperfectly known, in which case we advocate the use of a linear-quadratic detector. We show how this detector can be designed by maximizing its deflection, and, using moment-bound theory, we examine its robustness to the variations of the actual probability distribution of the inaccurately known primary signal.

Linear Quadratic Controller Design of Insect-Mimicking Flapping Micro Aerial Vehicle (곤충모방 날갯짓 비행체의 LQ 제어기 설계)

  • This paper presents dynamic modelling and simulation study on attitude/altitude control of an insect-mimicking flapping micro aerial vehicle during hovering. Mathematical modelling consists of three parts: simplified flapping kinematics, flapping-wing aerodynamics, and six degree of freedom dynamics. Attitude stabilization is accomplished through linear quadratic regulator based on the linearized model of the time-varying nonlinear system, and altitude control is designed in the outer loop using PID control. The performance of the proposed controller is verified through numerical simulation where attitude stabilization and altitude control is done for hovering. In addition, it is confirmed that the attitude channel by periodic control is marginally stable against periodic pitching moment caused by flapping.
