The functional properties of lupin seed protein concentrate (LPC) were examined and compared to those of soybean protein isolate (SPI) and Na-caseinate. LPC-50, of which protein level was 50%, was prepared by a two phase solvent (hexane: alcohol: water= 10:7:3) extraction method. LPC-70 was made from LPC-50 by removing the fractions solubilized by carbohydrate decomposing enzymes. The solubilities of LPC-50 and LPC-70 were similar to that of of SPI but slightly higher at pH 4-5, and less susceptible to the added salt. The apparent viscosity of LPC increased exponentially as the concentration increased over 6% level, and the change was similar to that of Na-caseinate. LPC showed strong pseudoplastic non-Newtonean flow behavior, which was similar to that of SPI The emulsifying capasity of LPC-70 was similar to that of SPI when salt was added. The foaming capacity of LPC was comparable to that of SPI. LPC showed high oil and water absorption capacities, which increased as the protein level was elevated. LPC-70 showed the highest oil absorption capacity of all the samples tested.
Translocation of azurophil granules is pivotal for bactericidal activity of neutrophils, the first-line defense cells against pathogens. Previously, we reported that lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC), an endogenous lipid, enhances bactericidal activity of human neutrophils via increasing translocation of azurophil granules. However, the precise mechanism of LPC-induced azurophil granule translocation was not fully understood. Treatment of neutrophil with LPC significantly increased CD63 (an azurophil granule marker) surface expression. Interestingly, cytochalasin B, an inhibitor of action polymerization, blocked LPC-induced CD63 surface expression. LPC increased F-actin polymerization. LPC-induced CD63 surface expression was inhibited by both a Rho specific inhibitor, Tat-C3 exoenzyme, and a Rho kinase (ROCK) inhibitor, Y27632 which also inhibited LPC-induced F-actin polymerization. LPC induced Rho-GTP activation. NSC23766, a Rac inhibitor, however, did not affect LPC-induced CD63 surface expression. Theses results suggest a novel regulatory mechanism for azurophil granule translocation where LPC induces translocation of azurophil granules via Rho/ROCK/F-actin polymerization pathway.
The content of lysophosphatidyl choline (LPC) in wheat starch lipids from six cultivar representing three classes of wheat was determined by a high performance liquid chromatography using UV-detection (HPLC-UV). The HPLC-UV assay had a sensitivity of LPC concentrations above $5{\mu}g/50{\mu}l$ and required 80 minutes per chromatogram.

This experiment was carried out to investigate the effect of pH at coagulation on fatty acid and sterol composition of green LPC. Green juice of Italian ryegrass, red clover, oats and alfalfa was adjusted at pH 4, 6, 8 and heated at $85^{\circ}C$ for ten minutes. Green LPC was taken from the above green juice. The results obtained were as follows. 1. Green LPC of Italian ryegrass, oats and alfalfa contained much on the order of linoleic acid, palmitic acid and linolenic acid. Methyl ester of these three fatty acid accounted for 70.4% to 86.2% of total fatty acid methyl ester. Green LPC of red clover contained much palmitic acid, linoleic acid, and linolenic acid. These three fatty acid methyl ester accounted for 82.5% to 86.2% of total fatty acid methyl ester. 2. Linolenic acid was highest in the green LPC of red clover, oats and alfalfa which was adjusted at pH 8 and heated and coagulated, and next at pH 6, and pH 4, respectively. Linolenic acid was highest in the green LPC of Italian ryegrass which was adjusted at pH 6, next pH 8, and pH 4. 3. Green LPC of red clover and alfalfa contained cholesterol. The all green LPC contained campesterol, stigmasterol and sitosterol. 4. Sterol was highest in the green LPC of Italian ryegrass, red clover and oats which was adjusted at pH 8 and next at pH 4, and pH 6, respectively. Sterol was highest in the green LPC of alfalfa which was adjusted at pH 8, and next at pH 6, and pH 4, respectively.
In this paper, we propose the LPC+-file for efficient indexing of high-dimensional image data. With the proliferation of multimedia data, there Is an increasing need to support the indexing and retrieval of high-dimensional image data. Recently, the LPC-file (5) that based on vector approximation has been developed for indexing high-dimensional data. The LPC-file gives good performance especially when the dataset is uniformly distributed. However, compared with for the uniformly distributed dataset, its performance degrades when the dataset is clustered. We improve the performance of the LPC-file for the strongly clustered image dataset. The basic idea is to adaptively partition the data space to find subspaces with high-density clusters and to assign more bits to them than others to increase the discriminatory power of the approximation of vectors. The total number of bits used to represent vector approximations is rather less than that of the LPC-file since the partitioned cells in the LPC+-file share the bits. An empirical evaluation shows that the LPC+-file results in significant performance improvements for real image data sets which are strongly clustered.

This experiment was carried out to investigate the capability of production of artificial milk for leaf protein concentrate (LPC). Chloroplastic protein and cytoplasmic protein were extracted from leaves of Dystaenia takeshimana Nakai and LPC was extracted from leaves of Italian ryegrass to increase the functional properties of LPC as a level of milk casein. One gram of chloroplastic protein and cytoplasmic protein and 1g of LPC were succinylated by addition of succinic anhydride 0.1, 0.25, and 1g respectively. Their functional properties were investigated in this experiment. The results obtained were summarized as follows: 1. The non-succinylated LPC showed a higher value in bulk density than the chloroplastic protein, the cytoplasmic protein and LPC succinylated by addition of succinic anhydride 0.1, 0.25, and 1g respectively. Nevertheless, succinylation had an enhancing effect as indicated by the rises as the degrees of succinylation was increased. 2. Although solubility of non-succinylated LPC was lower than that of milk casein, succinylation caused an effective increase in the solubility of the protein and LPC. 3. Water absorption and fat absorption of succinylated LPC were twice to eight times higher than those of milk casein. Fat absorption was not influenced to the extent by succinylation as the water absorption. Excessive succinylation resulted in the decrease of both water absorption and fat absorption. 4. Emulsifying activity and emulsion stability were increased in proportion to the succinylated degree of LPC. More than 10% increase in the amount of succinic anhydride resulted in an apparent increase in emulsifying activity and emulsion stability. Besides, the succinylated LPC showed more excellent functional properties in emulsifying activity and emulsion stability than milk.
Lysophosphatidylcholine (LPC) is an endogenous phospholipid. LPC has various stimulating or modulating activities on immune cells, including lymphocytes, monocytes/macrophages and neutrophils. Studies generally revealed pro-inflammatory activities of LPC, but accumulating evidence indicates that LPC has also anti-inflammatory actions. Here we summarize immunomodulatory actions of LPC.
The quantization of the LPC parameters is a very important aspect of the speech compression algorithm. This paper analyzes the quantization effect of the LPC coefficients and presents the implementation of a fixed-point CELP coder based on the LPC analysis.

Purpose : The purpose of this study is to make and use monoclonal Ab which reacts with CMV major immediate early(${\alpha}$) protein(p72). Methods : Normal human fibroblast(Foreskin derived) was cultured in Eagle's minimal essential medium(MEM) containing 10% cowfetus serum and mouse chondroblast was cultured in P3X63 Ag8.653(ATCC. Maryland USA) to maintain $5{\times}10^5/ml$ cell counts. CMV(KJHJ90) from congenital CMV infected infant's urine was multiplied and used for Ab making. CMV Ag was injected 4 times, 1 week interval into the peritoneal space of 6~8 weeks old mice. And then lymphocyles and fibroblasts taken from spleen were obtained and conjugated. After the conjugated cell cultured, we chose the cell that had high Ab titer using indirect immunofluerescent method. Results : Among the 28 monoclonal antibodies obtained LPC12 and LPC23 reacted highly with nucleus of AD169 infected cell. Purified AD169 after SDS-PAGE, molecular weight of Ag, which reacted with purified monoclonal Ab, was obtained using Western blotting. Monoclonal Ab of LPC12 and LPC23 clone reacted most highly with 72 kd Ag. Conclusion : LPC12 and LPC23 clonal Ab with AD 169(P63-27) is useful on early diagnosis of CMV infection.
