The Analysis of Inground LNG Storage Tank Compression Ring Behavior during Concrete Pouring (콘크리트 타설에 따른 지하식 LNG 저장탱크 컴프레션 링 거동 분석)

  • Compression ring is a part of LNG storage tank. The main function of the compression ring is connected the roof plate with concrete side wall. End of its one side is embedded in the side concrete wall and the other's connected with the roof plate by welding. It is designed to support stably for all the loads such as self weight of steel roof, inner pressure and concrete weight. We fulfill the FEM analysis to analysis the compression ring behavior during construction. Also we studied the effect of the change of design variables. On the basis of the results, we could introduce a more reasonable design method for compression ring.

  • 소형가스 흡수식 냉온수 유닛의 개발 이력에 관해 소개하고자 한다. 국내의 소위 가정용 에어컨의 보급률은 40%를 넘어서고 있으며, 생활의 향상에 따라 그 보급률은 급성장하는 양상을 보이고 있다. 이러한 전기를 사용하는 가정용 냉방기의 급성장은 여름철 전력 예비율을 크게 위협하고 사계절의 구분이 확실한 한국의 경우 계절별 수급의 불균형을 보여준다. 2002년도 냉방 전력사용량(8,910㎿)은 총 전력 생산(45,770㎿)의 약 20%를 사용하기에 이르렀다. 이러한 추세로 이어질 경우 2010년 국내 냉방 총 전력은 15,250㎿로 2000년 기준전력의 약 2배에 이른다. 반면, 2002년도 가스 냉방의 사용은 LNG 총수요량의 1.2%(220천톤)에 지나지 않았다. LNG의 사용은 청정에너지로서의 겨울철 난방용 사용이 급증한 것에 비해 여름철 사용량은 없어 LNG 인수기지의 대규모 저장 탱크가 가득 차있는 양상을 보여준다.(중략)

Experimental Study of Impact Behaviors of the Membrane for LNG Storage Tank (LNG 저장탱크용 멤브레인의 충격거동에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • This paper analyzes the behaviors of the membrane under drop impact loadings using the acoustic emission technique. The analysis is useful for evaluating the strength of the membrane as well as for studying its damping characterisics due to the corrugation and the ring knot. The membrane for LNG storage tank is basically composed linear and circular elements. Two membrane specimens have approximately same drop impact mass and same drop speed. Locan 320 system with piezoelectric sensor is used in the experimental measurement. Experimental results for the membranes indicated that AE siganls having higher energies were generated with increasing drop impact loadings. It was confirmed that the ring knot. membrane has high absorption of drop impact loadings in comparison with the flat membrane. These results are very important to reliable design and to improve the safey of the membrane components.

  • BOG(Boil Off Gas) is formed about 0.05 vol%/day from LNG(Liquefied Natural Gas) tanks of LNG receiving terminal. To recycle the BOG using direct contacting, Previously the quantities of LNG and BOG is mixed at the ratio of 11:1 by mass. However simple this process uses, there is the difficulty of processing operation resulted from decrease of using LNG in summer. To complement these shortcomings, Advantages of the process are investigated by comparison of cost and analysis of the indirect contact method using LNG cold energy. It was studied that principles and types of development using LNG cold energy which is abandoned in the carburettor and found how to contact each to find the appropriate cold energy development process. Therefore, in this research, the indirect contact method will be investigated the feasibility of a comparative analysis by using HYSYS.

Study on Filling Capacity of Self-Consolidating Concrete for Modular LNG Storage Tank (모듈형 LNG 저장탱크용 자기 충전 콘크리트의 충전 성능평가 실용화 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the practical application of the self consolidating concrete for the steel concrete pannel (SCP) in module LNG storage tank proposed in the previous research. We evaluated the physical properties and filling performance of developed concrete for the SCP module. First, a slump flow test was conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed guidelines for the filling test. As a result, all of the concrete used showed satisfactory performance. Based on the results of the previous study, it was found that the reliability of the required time measured by the $T_{500}$ test and the rheometer results measured before and after pumping was 0.94 which means the separation and blocking should not occur. The L-box test and the U-box test were conducted before and after pumping. All of the guidelines suggested showed satisfactory performance. SCP module for LNG storage tanks was fabricated on actual size scale to evaluate the practical application at the final site. As a result, it was confirmed that satisfactory filling performance was obtained in all the specimens.

Finite Element Analysis on the Pitch Design of Ring Knot Type Membrane Unit (링 마디식 멤브레인 유니트의 피치설계에 관한 유한요소해석)

  • This paper has been analyzed for the stress behavior problems of the ring knot membrane unit using the finite element method about the pitch design of the membrane unit, which is one of the most important parameters in manufacturing of the membrane type LNG storage tanks. The FEM results have been compared those of the existing pitch design length. The safety problem of the ring knot membrane model, which is considered in this study, does not come out any more no matter what the pitch length is used in the extra large LNG storage tanks. But in the case of the membrane for LNG tankers, it is advantageous to design the pitch short because of fatigue strength caused by repeated loadings. Looking at the deformation behaviors of the membrane corrugation, the deformation of the hight in the y direction occurs $15{\~}50\%$ more than that of the width in the z direction. It shows also that the deformation of the membrane with $-162^{\circ}C$ cryogenic temperature is not so great compared with the deformation by hydrostatic pressure.

  • The mechanical properties, heat treatment and the history for the development of Ni-bearing ferritic steels for the application at low temperatures are reviewed. Ni-bearing ferritic steels are classified into $2-3\%$ Ni steels, $5.5\%$ Ni steel, $9\%$ Ni steel and $13\%$ Ni steel., of which $9\%$ Ni steels are most widely used for the large LNG storage tanks owing to their encellent fracture toughness up to $-196^{\circ}C$. The effect of retained austenite on the tensile properties and toughness was precisely discussed. As the size of LNG storage tank increases, thicker plates are needed. Thus, the recent efforts for the improvement of low temperature toughness and homogeneity are also introduced.

  • This paper describes the behavior of prestressed concrete storage tanks under cryogenic temperatures by thermal stress analysis. In concrete tanks to store up LNG, a thermal shock can occur over a global area resulting from the sudden filling of the outer tank with cryogenic storage contents. Analysis results show that internal surface of concrete tank is cooled down rapidly. Tank is subjected mostly to thermal constraint moment due to temperature gradient across its section. Constraint moment may cause tensile stresses beyond tensile strength in the wall. Problems related with concrete cracking due to temperature gradient have been considered.

  • 본 해설에서는 Inconel계와 Hastelloy계로 구분되는 9%Ni강용 피복아크용접봉을 중심으로 LNG저장탱크 용접시공시 발생 가능한 문제점들을 검토하고, Ni합금 피복봉의 심선과 피복제와 관련한 일반적인 제조특성을 살펴보았다. 또한 현재 국내 현장에서 용접시공에 사용되는 용접재료의 화학적, 기계적 특성과 함께 용접작업성을 평가한 결과 이들 피복아크용접봉들은 규격이 정한 요구조건들을 만족하면서 비교적 양호한 용접작업성을 확보하고 있는 것으롤 판단되었다. 이상의 검토결과는 향후 9%Ni강용 Ni합금 피복아크용접봉의 국산화 개발에 기초자료로 활용될 것으로 기대된다.
