  • As the Internet connections and services at U.S. public libraries have increased dramatically since 1990s, defining, assessing and measuring quality of these new electronic services have become a critical issue. This research was a study designed to identify key dimensions of Internet service quality at public libraries by providing a systematic framework for measuring and assessing the quality of Internet services. The study used modified SERVQUAL and SERVPERF instruments which have been widely used service quality measurement in business marketing areas and LibQUAL+ model which are widely adopted service quality measurement instrument in most of the academic libraries in U.S.

  • The purpose of this study is to build outcomes evaluation system for measuring outcomes of programs provided by a public library. For the study, we constructed outcomes evaluation system(LibOutcomes system) that applied library outcome measurement framework based on the logic model and this system made librarians to measure outcome directly import data from the KOLAS and upload it. As a result, LibOutcomes system was useful for verifying outcomes as visual result. In addition, since the system was built a web-based system, it is possible to secure accessibility and ease of use. Finally, we suggested possibility to expand the system as a function of KOLAS in the future.

  • This study was intended to confirm the perception of the users for the public libraries specialized service through the difference in library service quality according to the availability of specialized services by utilizing 'LibQUAL+' that is a service quality assessment tool. As a results, there is difference in the minimum and perceived levels between libraries that provide assessment result specialized services for service levels and those that did not. And there was no difference in the expected level. The degree of service showed generally higher user perception in the Adequacy Gap and Superiority Gap than libraries that do not offer specialized services. Therefore, the users of public libraries recognize that libraries that offer specialized services are better served than libraries that do not.

  • The effect of feeding Sequency on the growth and composition of individual organs in young and adult rae were investigated Young and adult male rats were received 20% casein diet by one-meal, three-meals per day or ad libitum for 24 days The rats were tilled and analyzed with regard to the composition of individual organs DNA, RNA, Protein lipid and water content of the liver, kidney, speen were determined In both young and adult rats, the body weight gain of the three- meal group was similar to that of ad -lib. group, but the body weight gain and food intake of the one - meal group were lower than those of others. In case of young rats, DNA, RNA and protein content of liver, kidney and spleen was less in one- meal group than in ad-lib group : their compositions per DNA were, however, similar in both instances In case of adult rats, the weight of liver increased significantly and their composition per DNA except lipid increased in one - meal group, but the total DNA content in the liver did not show any significant difference. The size of stomach and intestine tend to increase in meal -feeding group, but the serum cholesterol showed no significant change.

  • Digital library research has attracted much attention. While many research projects are funded by government agencies and national and international bodies, some are run by specific academic and research institutions and libraries. While some digital library projects, such as the ELINOR project in the UK, the first two phases of the eLib(Electronic Libraries) programme in the UK, and the first phase of the DLI(Digital Library Initiative) in the USA, are now over, a number of other projects are currently under-way in different parts of the world. Beginning with the definitions and characteristics of digital libraries proposed by various researchers, this paper provides brief accounts of some major digital library projects that are currently in progress, or are just completed, in different parts of the world. There follows a review of digital library research under 16 major headings. Literature for this review has been identified through a search on the LISA CD-ROM database and a Dialog search on library and information science databases, and the resulting output has been supplemented by a scan of the various issues of D-Lib Magazine and Ariadne, and the Web sites of various organizations and institutions engaged in digital library research. The review indicates that we have learned a lot through digital library research within a short span of time. However, a number of issues are yet to be resolved. The paper ends with an indication of the research issues that need to be addressed and resolved in the near future in order to bring the digital library from the researcher's laboratory to the real life environment.

  • It is laser induced breakdown spectroscopy(LIBS) that enables qualitative and quantitative analysis of the elements contained in unknown specimen by comparing the wavelength characteristics of each element obtained from the spectral analysis of the standard specimen with the wavelength analysis results from unknown specimens. In this study, the applicability of LIBS to the analysis of major deterioration factors affecting concrete durability was experimentally analyzed. That is, the possibility of applying LIBS to the diagnosis of concrete deterioration by studying the quantitative detection of harmful deteriorating factors on chloride, sulfate and carbonated mortar specimens using LIBS was studied. As a result of LIBS test for each chloride and sulfate specimen, the LIBS spectral wavelength intensity of chlorine and sulfur ions increased linearly with increasing concentration. Carbon ion LIBS spectral wave intensities of carbonated specimens increased nonlinearly over the duration of carbonation exposure. From the above results, it can be partially confirmed that LIBS can be applied to the diagnosis of concrete deterioration. In case of concrete carbonation, it is presumed that carbon content is contained in the cement itself and is different from the detection of chloride and sulfate specimen. Therefore, it is considered that more various parameter studies should be performed to apply LIBS to concrete carbonation.
