SHS합성법에 의한 리튬이온이차전지용 정극활물질 LiMn2O4 의 제조 (Synthesis of LiMn2O4 Powders Using Li-Ion Secondary Battery by SHS Process)

  • A simple and effective method for the synthesis of LiMn$_{2}$O$_{4}$ powder as a cathode material for lithium secondary battery is reported. Micrometer size LiMn$_{2}$O$_{4}$ was prepared by combustion synthesis technique employing initial mixture of l.l LiNO$_{3}$ -1.3Mn-0.7MnO$_{2}$-1NaCl composition. Parametric study of the combustion process including molar ratio of Mn/MnO$_{2}$ and NaCl concentration were carried out under air atmosphere. The combustion products obtained were additionally heat treated at the temperature 900$^{\circ}C$ and the washed by distilled water. The results of charging-discharging characteristics revealed that LiMn$_{2}$O$_{4}$ cell synthesized in the presence of NaCl had a high capacity and much better reversibility than one formed without NaCl An approximate chemical mechanism for LiMn$_{2}$O$_{4}$ formation is proposed.

태양광 전원과 리튬 에너지 저장장치의 연계운전시 특성 해석 (Analysis of Connected Operations of PV Source and Li Energy Storage Equipment to Power System)

  • This paper presents the analysis of connected operation of photo voltaic source and Li energy storage system. The micro-grid has been installed and operated for several years at the campus of USF and has been a role of test bed. Photo voltaic source has been strongly influenced by the location, weather and climate of a installed area and Li battery is connected directly to the photo voltaic source to compensate for the limitations. The Li battery is operated to supply power output to the grid by the charging or discharging mode based on the average power output of the PV source which is calculated from monitored data for several years. The load of the PV and Li battery system is operated as a severe loading condition and the operating characteristics of PV source and Li battery are analyzed in detail. In connected operations of PV and Li battery to power system, the PV and Li battery is operated to supply constant power during only day time or peak time to increase load shedding ratio and efficient usage of generation sources in power system.

Al-Li-(Be)합금 주괴의 미세조직과 기계적 성질 (Microstructure and Mechanical Properties in Al-Li-(Be) Alloys.)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of Be addition on the microstructure and mechanical properties of as-cast and homogenization treated Al-Li-(Be)alloys. The ductility of as-cast Al-Li alloy was increased by the addition of Be and the fracture morphology was changed from brittle to ductile mode. Also, hardness and strength have been decreased by homogenization treatment. The morphology of eutectic structure which consists of ${\alpha}(Al)$ and ${\alpha}(Be)$ was changed from lammellae to spherical type by homogenization treatment. The shape of ${\alpha}(Be)$ phase has been revealed as hollow type by TEM observation. It consists of outer surfaces with well defined crystal facets and the core filled with ${\alpha}(Al)$. The microstructure of as-cast Al-Li-Be alloys showed coarse ${\delta}'$, fine ${\delta}'$, and coarse ${\delta}$ phases. The coarse and fine ${\delta}'$ phases were formed at Be-rich phase /matrix interfaces and in matrix, respectively. By homogenization treatment, the ${\delta}$ phase in Al-Li and Al-Li-Be alloys dissolved and the size of ${\delta}$ phase in Al-Li-Be alloys was finer than that of Al-Li alloy.

  • 차량 인식의 문제는 교통관리나 차량검색 등의 분야에서 자동차가 포함하고 있는 중요한 정보를 얻기 위해 필수적으로 수행해야 하는 과정이다. 본 연구는 LiDAR 자료를 교통정보 추출에 활용하기 위한 기초 연구로써 LiDAR 자료로부터 도로포인트를 추출하고 이중 도로 상의 차량을 분류하기 위한 알고리즘을 제시하고 인식된 차량의 크기를 추정하기 위한 알고리즘을 제시하였으며 광범위한 지역에서 LiDAR 자료를 이용하여 도로상의 차량 댓수를 파악하고 크기를 추정하였다.

Density Functional Studies of Ring-Opening Reactions of Li+-(ethylene carbonate) and Li+-(vinylene carbonate)

  • Reaction energies were determined for reductive ring-opening reactions of Li$^+$-coordinated ethylene carbonate (EC) and vinylene carbonate (VC) by a density functional method. We have also explored the ring-opening of Li$^+$-EC and Li$^+$-VC by reaction with a nucleophile (CH$_3$O$^-$.) thermodynamically. Our thermodynamic calculations led us to conclude that the possible reaction products are CH$_3$OCH$_2$CH$_2$OCO$_2$Li (O$_2$-C$_3$ cleavage) for Li$^+$-EC +CH$_3$O$^-$., and CH$_3$OCHCHOCO$_2$Li (O$_2$-C$_3$ cleavage) and CH$_3$OCO$_2$CHCHOLi (C$_1$-O$_2$ cleavage) for Li$^+$-VC +CH$_3$O$^-$.. The opening of VC would occur at the C$_1$-O$_2$ side by a kinetic reason, although the opening at the O$_2$-C$_3$ side is more favorable thermodynamically.

Thermodynamic Calculations on the Chemical Behavior of SrO During Electrolytic Oxide Reduction

  • Strontium is known as a salt-soluble element during the electrolytic oxide reduction (EOR) process. The chemical behavior of SrO during EOR was investigated via thermodynamic calculations to provide quantitative data on the chemical status of Sr. To achieve this, thermodynamic calculations were conducted using HSC chemistry software for various EOR conditions. It was revealed that SrO reacts with LiCl salt to produce SrCl2, even in the presence of Li2O, and that the ratio of SrCl2 depends on the initial concentration of Li2O dissolved in LiCl. It was found that SrO reacts with Li to produce Sr during EOR and that the reduced Sr reacts with LiCl salt to produce SrCl2. As a result, the proportions of metallic forms were lower in Sr than in La and Nd under various EOR conditions. The thermodynamic calculations indicated that the three chemical forms of SrO, SrCl2, and Sr co-exist in the EOR system under an equilibrium with Li, Li2O, and LiCl.

LiMnBO3/C: A Potential Cathode Material for Lithium Batteries

  • $LiMnBO_3$ was successfully synthesized by a solid-state reaction method both with and without a carbon coating. Adipic acid was used as source material for the carbon coating. $LiMnBO_3$ was composed of many small polycrystalline particles with a size of about 50 - 70 nm, which showed a very even particle morphology and highly ordered crystalline particulates. Whereas the carbon coated $LiMnBO_3$ was well covered by mat-like, fine material consisting of amorphous carbon derived from the carbonization of adipic acid during the synthetic process. Carbon coated cell exhibited improved and stable discharge capacity profile over the untreated. Two cells delivered an initial discharge capacity of 111 and 58 mAh/g for $LiMnBO_3$/C and $LiMnBO_3$, respectively. Carbon coating on the surface of the $LiMnBO_3$ drastically improved discharge capacity due to the improved electric conductivity in the $LiMnBO_3$ material.

Synthesis of Li2Mn3O7 and Application to Hybrid Capacitor

  • In order to apply hybrid capacitor, $Li_2Mn_3O_7$ was synthesized by combustion method using $LiNO_3$, $Li(CH_3COO){\cdot}2H_2O$ and $Mn(CH_3COO){\cdot}4H_2O$. Spinel pattern was identified the samples calcined over $400^{\circ}C$ in XRD. Intensity of $Mn_2O_3$ peak increased as the calcination temperature increased. To decide n/p ratio and to investigate electrochemical properties, charge-discharge tests of Li/$Li_2Mn_3O_7$ and Li/AC half-cell were carried out. Applying to AC/$Li_2Mn_3O_7$ hybrid capacitor, it had high discharge capacitance of 32.8 F/cc at 100 mA/g.

Dispersion of Li[Ni0.2Li0.2Mn0.6]O2 Powder by Surfactant for High-power Li-ion Cell

  • The particle size of Li[$Ni_{0.2}Li_{0.2}Mn_{0.6}]O_2$ cathode powder was controlled effectively by dispersion using lauric acid as a surfactant. The samples treated by lauric acid showed smaller particles of approximately half the original size compared to the particles of a pristine sample. A structural change due to the dispersion of Li[$Ni_{0.2}Li_{0.2}Mn_{0.6}]O_2$ powder was not detected. The rate performance of the Li[$Ni_{0.2}Li_{0.2}Mn_{0.6}]O_2$ cathode was improved by dispersion using lauric acid, which was likely due to the decrease of the particle size. In particular, a sample dispersed pristine powder using lauric acid (L2) presented a greatly enhanced discharge capacity and capacity retention at a high C rate. The discharge capacity of a pristine sample was only 133 m$Ahg^{-1}$ (3C rate) and 96 m$Ahg^{-1}$ (12C rate) at the tenth cycle. In contrast, the L2 electrode delivered higher discharge capacities of 160 m$Ahg^{-1}$ (3C rate) and 129 m$Ahg^{-1}$ (12C rate) at the tenth cycle. The capacity retention at a rate of 12C/2C was also enhanced from ~ 45% (pristine sample) to 57% (L2) by treatment with lauric acid.

3D S 전극을 활용한 고에너지밀도 전지 연구 (Study of a High Energy Density Battery Using a 3D Sulfur Electrode)

  • The possibility of conversion to the RC-MAT propulsion system (gasoline engine → electric motor) was studied. However, as commercial battery capacities are low. it is not possible to change the propulsion system. Nevertheless, development of nex-generation batteries is necessary for high capacity and high energy density. Although Li/S batteries are theoretically suitable as new generation batteries, these batteries are not composed of only Li and S. Hence, ensuring high energy density can be difficult. Moreover, electrolytes are important components in the study of energy density; hence, the battery by Li2S8 Molarity was sorted. There are no studied on its various electrode components. In this study, a Li/S battery was fabricated using an assorted 3D sulfur electrode of high energy density and its electrochemical properties were studied. The Li/S battery has a high energy density of 468 Wh/kg at 1.28 M Li2S8 (A805-1.28). Its capacity rapidly decreased after 1 cycle with more than 1 M Li2S8.
