가공방법에 따른 소형 도광판용 광학패턴 금형의 표면특성연구 (Surface characteristics on the optical pattern die of light guiding plate by machining types)

  • Micro pattern is applied to the light guiding plate(LGP) to enhance the uniformity of the brightness of the LCD. The micro cones are molded in intaglio on the surface of the LGP. The surface roughness of each cone was 40nm and 38nm in negative and positive die for laser ablation. In chemical etching, the surface roughness was 25nm, 24nm in negative and positive. And the surface roughness of negative and positive dies were 4nm and 5nm for LIGA-reflow process.

Design and Analysis of Diffractive Grating Imprinted Light-guide Plate for LCD Illumination

  • A highly simplified backlight unit mainly composed of diffractive grating in sub-micron order imprinted light-guide plate (LGP) is proposed for edge-lit backlight unit. Optical characteristics of the imprinted LGP are examined by RCWA and the performance is verified through Monte Carlo simulation. Results show that the diffraction efficiency, luminous flux and its uniformity over the area are significantly affected by the angle of incident ray. Consequently couples of design considerations are additionally proposed to enhance luminous flux. In terms of peak luminance and out-coupling luminous flux, the experimental results are agreed well with the performance simulation. Finally, compared with optical characteristics of conventional backlight unit, we could conclude that the proposed simplified backlight unit made of diffractive grating imprinted light-guide plate is a good substitute for the conventional backlight unit.

LED의 광효율 최적설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Optimal Design for Optical Efficiency of LED)

  • In this paper, it was attempted to analyze the optimal design of light emitting diode (LED), a source of back light unit (BLU). LED is beginning with commercialized red LED which is made by GaAsP compound semiconductor, and has been developed focusing on liquid crystal panel. In order to get the optimal design, optical simulation was made by analyzing luminosity shape, reflector angle, chip depth, and chip position of LED lighting. Final results show that the proposed LED characteristics were useful to increase light efficiency and it has been proven by distribution chart for actual exposed light on the light guide panel (LGP).

  • This paper deals with the development of a shape inspection system of the Light Guide Panel(LGP), and the study for the performance of the system. The conventional contact sensing methods have been used to inspect the shape. However the contact-sensing methods have some problems. The contact between a tip of the sensor and the surface of objects make a sensor tip abraded and generate a defect on the surface of objects. In this paper, we employed the Non-Contact Optical Sensor[1] to measure the shape inspection system of LGPs, The Sensor composed of Hologram laser[3] unit used for CD Optical Pickup[2] is low cost and has a good performance to measure a transparent objects.   • Recently, according to the rapid development of display, many display applications, such as, cellular phone, navigation, monitor and LCD TV have been changed from CRT type to LCD type. BLU(Back Light Unit) is one of main parts in LCD unit and generally, it consists of a light source, a reflective sheet, a LGP(Light Guide Plate), a diffuser sheet, and two prism sheets. The most important component of BLU is a light guide plate, which diffuses the input light to the TFT-LCD module uniformly. The LGP is usually made by injection molding process, and it has numerous optical micro patterns on the surface. In the present study the micro-patterned stamper which has cylindrical shape was fabricated by using the UV-LiGA process. And the replication characteristics have been compared among three different kinds of injection molding process; general injection molding, injection/compression molding and RHCM(Rapid Heating and Cooling Molding). Average replication ratios of CIM and ICM were 19.1% and 64.6%, respectively. On the other hand, the average replication ratio of RHCM process showed the higher value of 98.4% among these. It show that maintaining the mold surface above $T_g$ could increase the replication ratio of micro patterns substantially.

  • A back light unit (BLU) is a key module of a thin film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD), frequently utilized in various mobile displays. In this study, we experimentally characterize transcription and optical properties of concave and convex microlens arrays (MLAs) of light guide plate (LGP) fabricated by injection molding with polycarbonate as a LGP substrate material. Nickel mold inserts were manufactured by electroforming on the MLA which was fabricated by the thermal reflow of photoresist microstructures patterned by UV-photolithography. For the case of convex microlens, the height of replicated microlens was less than that of the mold insert while maintaining almost the same microlens diameter of the mold insert as the location of the microlens is far from the gate. In contrast, for the concave microlens, the diameter of replicated microlens was larger than that of mold insert, while showing almost the same microlens height as the mold insert. From the optical examination of replicated convex and concave MLAs, it was found that a higher luminance of the LGP was achieved by the concave MLAs compared to the convex MLAs (about 30% enhancement in this case)due to the utilization of a larger amount of light provided by the light sources.

  • In this study, it was investigated about the variation of luminance properties in LED backlight with geometrical shape such as prism or lens shape on the light-entering face. Generally, LED light source has the loss in backlight system because it has horizontal direction light. PMMA(Poly-Methyl-Meta-Acrylate) is used LGP(Light-Guide-Plate) in conventional backlight system. PMMA has low refraction angle. so that. horizontal direction light was not used in backlight system. The addition of geometrical shape in light-entering face in LGP improves the luminance characteristics because it prevents horizontal direction light generation in light-entering-face. Prism or lens shape in same pitch disposition was almost same without these treatment such as the value of 1% rising. Besides. It is particular that the gap of these shape such as the value of 0.407~0.22mm prevents horizontal direction light, so then it contributes luminance rising at 5.6%.

레몬그라스 분말을 첨가한 스펀지케이크의 품질 특성 (Quality characteristics of sponge cake with lemon grass powder)

  • 본 연구에서는 레몬그라스 분말 2, 4, 6, 8, 10% 첨가한 스펀지케이크를 제조한 후 반죽 비중, 케이크의 pH, 수분함량, 굽기 손실, 비체적과 높이, 부피지수, 색도, 산화방지능, 기계적 텍스처, 관능특성을 조사하였다. 반죽의 비중은 대조군이 0.46으로 가장 낮았고 레몬그라스 분말 8-10% 첨가군은 대조군보다 유의적으로 높게 나타났다. 스펀지케이크의 pH(8.09-7.52)와 수분함량(30.29-24.87%)은 레몬그라스 분말(pH 5.01)의 첨가량이 증가할수록 감소하였고, 굽기 손실(7.46-8.07%)은 증가하였다. 스펀지케이크의 비체적은 레몬그라스 분말의 첨가량이 증가할수록 감소하는 경향을 나타났으며(4.72-4.63 mL/g), 높이(8.00-7.33 cm), 부피지수(10.92-10.13) 그리고 대칭성지수(0.68-0.64)도 낮아졌다. 케이크의 내부 색깔을 보면 L값과 b값은 레몬그라스 분말의 첨가량이 많아질수록 감소하였고, a값은 증가하였다. DPPH radical 소거능에 대한 산화방지활성은 레몬그라스 분말의 첨가량이 많을수록 높아지는 경향을 보였다. 기계적 텍스처는 경도, 응집성, 씹힘성이 레몬그라스 분말의 첨가량이 많아질수록 증가하였고, 탄력성과 회복탄력성은 유의적인 차이를 보이지 않았다. 9점 척도법으로 실시한 관능검사에서 색, 맛, 텍스처에서는 각 시료간의 유의적인 차이를 보이지 않았고, 향은 2%(6.95)와 4%(8.70) 첨가군에서 대조군(5.30)보다 높은 값을 보였으며, 입안에서의 느낌은 대조군과 2-6% 첨가군은 대조군과 유의적인 차이가 나타나지 않았고, 8-10% 첨가군은 대조군보다 유의적으로 낮았다. 전반적인 기호도는 2%(8.02) 첨가군에서 가장 높은 값을 보였다. 이러한 결과로 보아 스펀지케이크 제조 시 2%의 레몬그라스 분말 첨가는 스펀지케이크의 제조와 품질특성에 부정적인 영향을 미치지 않으며 기호도를 향상시키는 것으로 판단된다.
