The correlation of the halo mura and off-axis light leakage level in LCDs with 2D dimmable LED backlight system

  • In the 2D local dimmable LED backlight system, each LED segment can be controlled separately. This can enhance the contrast ratio and reduce overall power consumption of LCDs. However, an artifact such as 'halo mura' can be observed around the bright object in the dark background. This is caused by the light leakage from the bright area into the dark one. Therefore, the 'halo mura' can be more easily observed in the oblique viewing direction. Thus, in this study, the perceivable degree of the halo mura is evaluated according to the level of the off-axis light leakage of LCDs. It is found that an acceptable degree of halo mura can be obtained in 2.0 cd/$m^2$ of the diagonal light leakage. In addition, the halo mura is unperceivable under 0.7 cd/$m^2$ of the diagonal light leakage which can be achieved with optimally compensated polarizers.

  • We have designed LED display system using ARM7TDMI processor and implemented hangul input and output. This system is easily extensible because controller board and LED matrix board were designed one module. Possible Input Methods of LED display system are PC, PDA and remote controller's wired and wireless communication. We have ported QT/Embedded 2.3.7 with touch panel Input at embedded board of Linux OS 2.4.18 and PXA255 Processor based. QT Application which we coded is able to input displaying text using ethernet communication on embedded system. Many of indicating text data is able to be saved because only korean alphabet codes are stored for data which users want displaying.

  • This paper deals with implementation of intelligent head up display for vehicle safety system. The Implanted new intelligent transport system offer the potential for improved vehicle to driver communication. The most commonly viewed information in a vehicle is from the Head up display, where speed, tachometer, engine RPM, navigation, engine temperature, fuel gauge, turn indicators and warning lights provide the driver with an array of fundamental information. TFT LCD, LCD Back light led, plane mirror, lens and controllers parts were designed to head up display system. Finally, In this paper, we analyze intelligent head up display system for vehicle of driver safety.

  • In this paper, we prevent a display quality drop for image of characteristics brightness ununiformity depend on LED use to LED vision. It is about that method also a control system development equipped with brightness compensation function of LED vision which is done easily for LED set up of LED vision. Generally, It is calculate driving current value is attended by each brightness to brightness characteristics mathematical function establish by "Y=aX+b", When is doing brightness value for "Y", driving current value for "X", brightness compensation value by using time for "b", characteristics value for "a" ground with characteristics curve of LED. So much, First It is create brightness data of each pixel take a photograph red, green and blue of LED vision. Second It is get average error about each pixel which get average brightness value of entire. Last, It is handle a complicated for about gradationally regulation to color and brightness of image send to LED vision. Also It raise the whole average brightness value of vision adjust for "b" value to solve brightness drop problem of LED using the long time.

  • In large-area LCD displays, we have developed two new control technologies for high-power LED backlight. The Novel control technology called scanning control and local gray control. In addition, a conceptual display system power management was developed. We have implemented high power-LED module driving system which can achieve power saving and cost down. Finally, we designed LED light-bar module of the side type as a backlight source. It not only achieved light & thin but also reduced the quantity of LEDs.

  • LED(Light Emitting Diode) is an emitting device which energy is same to the bandgap energy of p-type and n-type semiconductor junction. Recently high brightness LED is used in fish-luring light and traffic signal light alternative of normal light bulb, and widely used in the area of display pannel. Moreover nowadays LED has been used as a back light of LCD display. Recently, visible light communication(VLC) using LED, that allow two-way serial data communication between LEDs over a distance of sveral centimeters or meters, has been widely studied in the area of digital information transmission along with illumination and display. In this paper, we present LED communication system and their applications.

  • Currently, most of TDIS(Train Destination Indicator System) is operated colored-LED type equipment in Korea. This current LED type TDIS equipment has not graceful display and causes passenger's fatigues because of the LED module inherent characteristics as a display light source, high power consumption, high operating and maintenance costs, and et al. To address these several, we are developed new colored-LCD type TDIS equipment. According to our developed new TDIS equipment, we can achieve high resolution and graceful color stone of information display. Thus high graded service are able to provide to passengers. In addition, LCD module decreases power consumption, and it can be used permanently by changing only backlight in comparison with conventional equipment. Therefore we can decrease the maintenance cost and extend durability-period of TDIS equipment using new equipment.

  • In the outdoor advertising and industrial sites, are trying to implement the LED electric bulletin board system that is based on image processing in order to express a variety of intention in real time. Recently, in various field, rather than simple text representation, the importance of intuitive communication using images is increasing. Thus, instead of outputting the simple input information for communication, a system that can output a real-time information being sought. Therefore, the system is directed to overcoming by converting the problem of mapping an image on a variety of conventional LED display that can not be output images, the possible image output formats. Using an LED of low power, it has developed to output the efficient messages and images within a limited resources. This paper provides a system capable of managing the LED display on the wireless network. Atmega2560, Wi-Fi module, using the server and Android applications client, rather than printing a text only, it is a system to reduce the load generated image output character output in to the conversion process as can be managed by the server.

  • Point LED applied in Korea is applied to communication RCLED, but it is designed to be suitable for communication, so it does not meet requirements in fiber coupling rate and optical output. - Currently, domestic optical pipe manufacturers use general LEDs for light emitting devices, but Japanese products use high power point LEDs to develop superior point LED (RED 620 ~ 660nm).

  • In this paper, an aircraft warning light's optical system was designed using an LED light-source module and a collimating Fresnel lens. As for the optical system, a collimator Fresnel lens was designed for each module to satisfy a vertical-elevation center luminous intensity of 20,000 cd and the divergence-angle luminous-intensity standard conditions of the Ministry of Land for Infrastructure and Transport for aircraft warning lights. In addition, the optical system was optimized by adjusting the position and tilt of the LED light-source module and Fresnel lens. By analyzing and comparing the light-distribution characteristics of the optical system, an aircraft-warning-light optical system with optimal performance was obtained.
