시각적 기능개선을 위한 LED 센서 등기구 설계 (A Design of an LED Sensor Luminaire for Visual Function Improvement)

  • An LED sensor luminaire for visual function improvement necessitates the control algorithm for light level adjustment and the appropriate lens design. The control algorithm adapts to surround lighting condition, and thus has the advantages of energy saving and glare reduction. The multi-cell lens design improves color temperature uniformity and spatial light distribution of the luminaire. Experimental and simulated results show that this approach contributes noticeably to energy saving and color temperature uniformity of the LED sensor luminaire.

  • As developing the information society, Lighting Emitted diode(LED) which is light source for illumination of next generation is attracted public attention. LED have many problem as narrow light view angle, high price, drift phenomenon of color coordinate, high heating problem for lower power, lower weight and small size. So, many researches have continued in a illumination as LED module type. in this problem, heating problem is very important and difficult and that is caused in decreasing phenomenon of brightness and drift phenomenon of color coordinate. so the problem of heating is urgent question for illumination of LED. In this paper, structural design of PCB changed as two type for solving the heating problem. also the properties of heating is analysed and optical properties is measured with heating image camera and spectrometer according to change in this design.

  • This study implemented the LED lighting control system using Zigbee Communication. We designed a desk lamp using LEDs. The PWM signals control LEDs using LED drivers. A desk lamp received PWM signals using Zigbee protocol to control LED Color, Color temperature and brightness. Zigbee protocol that have such several advantages to existent Home network system can upgrade more interface dimension.

  • A Radioactive constraint of the nuclear fuel assembly irradiated by neutron during normal operation cycle of the nuclear power plant is typically on the order of about 3 kGy/h. In order to inspect nuclear fuel assembly using a VT (vision technology) system, the light such as halogen lamp is used. As the halogen lamp has lower color temperature than the sun light, the objects under halogen lamp illumination are seemed to be tinted with red. In this paper, high brightness LED is considered to be used as the light source of VT system. The high brightness LED, which is a key light source of the VT system, have been gamma irradiated at the dose rate of 4 kGy/h during two hours up to a total dose of 8 kGy. The radiation induced color-center in the LED housing cap made of plastics materials is observed.

Improving the Color Gamut of a Liquid-crystal Display by Using a Bandpass Filter

  • To improve the color gamut of a liquid-crystal display (LCD), we propose a bandpass filter that is added to the backlight unit to optimize the backlight spectrum. The bandpass filter can only transmit red, green and blue light in the visible range, while reflecting the unwanted light. We study the optical properties of the bandpass filter using the transfer-matrix method, and the effect of the bandpass filter on the color gamuts of LCDs is also investigated. When a bandpass filter based on a 5-layer configuration comprising low and high refractive indices ((HL)2H) is used in phosphor-converted white-light-emitting diode (pc-WLED), K2SiF6:Mn4+ (KSF-LED), and quantum-dot (QD) backlights, the color gamuts of the LCDs improve from 72% to 95.3% of NTSC, from 92% to 106.7% of NTSC, and from 104.3% to 112.2% of NTSC respectively. When the incident angle of light increases to 30°, the color gamuts of LCDs with pc-WLED and KSF-LED backlights decrease by 2.9% and 1% respectively. For the QD backlight, the color gamut almost does not change. When the (HL)2H structure is coated on the diffusion film, the color gamut can be improved to 92.6% of NTSC (pc-WLED), 105.6% of NTSC (KSF-LED), and 111.9% of NTSC (QD). The diffusion film has no obvious effect on the color gamut. The results have an important potential application in wide-color-gamut LCDs.

제어가능한 부엌공간 LED조명에서의 색온도, 조도, 제어속도 추출에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Extraction of Correlated Color Temperature, Illuminance, Control Speed under Controllable LED Lighting in the Kitchen Space)

  • This study has found out appropriate scopes of correlated color temperature and illuminance value with regard to general diffused lighting and work in the kitchen. It also has presented appropriate photometric quantity control speed for behavioral change with the following results. 1)For general diffused lighting, the appropriate photometric quantity has turned out to be 4,000 to 4,500K in color temperature and illuminance value of 300 to 400lx. And 300lx at 4,500K has proven to be the most comfortable, behavior-appropriate, and preferred pair. 2)As far as appropriate photometric quantity for work is concerned, color temperature of 4,000 to 5,000K and illuminance value of 600 to 800lx are appropriate, while 700lx at 4,500 to 5,000K are the most comfortable, behavior-appropriate, and preferred set. 3)As for appropriate photometric quantity control speed in behavioral change, 3 to 5 seconds has proven the most comfortable, appropriate, and preferred for behavioral change from entry to general areas and 1 to 3 seconds for change from general to work.

Changes in Electroencephalographic Results and Heart Rate Variability after Exposure to Green Landscape Photographs Correlated with Color Temperature and Illumination Level

  • Background and objective: Various images from visual display terminals (VDTs) as well as living lighting are important parts of our daily life; thus, properly controlling the lighting environment - that is, illuminance, color temperature and good images from VDTs - can have a substantial effect on improving the mental health and work efficiency in everyday life. We examined electroencephalography (EEG) and heart rate variability (HRV) responses to various lighting conditions in 25 university students as they viewed images of a green landscape or traffic congestion. Methods: EEG was performed in darkness and when the room was illuminated with 10 different light-emitting diode (LED) color temperatures, while the EEG and HRV responses to green landscape or traffic congestion image stimuli were measured in darkness and during room illumination with three different LED color temperatures. Results: We found a significant difference between darkness and high LED illumination (400 lx) at 7 (CZ, F4, FZ, O1, O2, OZ, and T6) of 30 channels, while the alpha wave activity increased during darkness. In the second experiment, the green landscape image stimuli in the 30 lx-2600 K lighting condition elicited theta wave activity on the EEG, whereas the traffic congestion image stimuli under high LED illumination elicited high beta and gamma wave activities. Moreover, the subjects exhibited better stress coping ability and heart rate stability in response to green landscape image stimuli under illuminated conditions, according to their HRV. Conclusion: These results suggest that lower color temperatures and illumination levels alleviate tension, and that viewing green landscape image stimuli at low illumination, or in darkness, is effective for reducing stress. Conversely, high illumination levels and color temperatures are likely to increase tension and stress in response to traffic congestion image stimuli.

야간 투시 영상시스템의 Green A에 적합한 작은 형태인자를 가진 LED에 관한 연구 (A Study on LED with Small Form Factor Suitable for Green A of Night Vision Imaging System)

  • In this study, we have successfully developed an unique NVIS Green A compatible LED by combining two technologies. One is white LED made with a black EMC (epoxy molding compound) lead frame. The other is NVIS Green A filter that shields the near infrared region made in the film method. The form factor of the developed NVIS Green A compatible LED was 2.0 × 2.0 × 0.95 mm. And it is possible to satisfy NVIS radiance and color limit specified in MIL-STD-3009 by controlling the concentration of Green A dye and the thickness of the NVIS filter as well as adjusting of color temperature of the white LED. From these results, we are expected that the developed NVIS Green A suitable LED is a promising solution for the weight reduction and the cost reduction of avionic applications.
