Introduction of an environmentally optimized energy scenario for the future of Indian power industry

  • Coal has made a wonderful contribution to the production of cheap electricity. Coal based power plants have been the backbone of world's electricity for a long time now. Coal while being cheap and easily available is also a source of various solid, liquid and gaseous effluents which are responsible for the environmental degradation. Environmental issues caused by coal need to be studied and analyzed, then a common global consensus must be formed. Efficient action must be taken against each and every type of pollutant that is produced by this particular industry. The research aims to provide a brief overlook of the environmental impact of India's coal-based power plants. The aim of this study is to introduce a novel environmentally feasible energy scenario for the future of Indian power sector which has been named as "OPES". OPES is mathematically simulated using the combination of GAMS and LEAP. OPES is simple to comprehend and can be reproduced easily for other case studies as well. Results show that OPES can help the Indian power sector to minimize its environmental impact without causing any problems in the energy supply.

  • Recent years, due to the direct or indirect damages caused by meteorological disasters more and more attention have been paid to natural disasters. At same time, diversified and multi-sensory interactive meteorological services is increasingly demanded. In this study, novel interactive meteorological service was compared with the traditional communication methods. Combining with case studies and systems creation, a virtual reality weather simulation framework was proposed, and a realistic virtual game environment providing real-time and historical weather information was created. The primary goal of this study is to build a weather display cabinet game system by using virtual reality technology, and promoting public's understanding of the principles of weather changes. With the interactive games in realistic scenarios, public's awareness for disasters prevention could be promoted. It is helping to change public's traditional understanding of meteorological theories, and will provide a more convenient way for the public to explore more effective weather forecasts. The simulation system is supported by VR technology. It was combined with Leap Motion interactive equipment to make popularization games for weather science. T-test data analysis showed that the application of VR technology in weather games has strong operability and interactivity.

  • A key driver for climate change caused by global average temperature rise is greenhouse gas cumulative emissions that stay for long term in the atmosphere. Although at the moment there is no GHG emission, global warming will continue owing to GHG cumulative emission. In this study, scenarios are developed based on two types of optimistic and conservative diffusion goal. There were a total of 6 alternatives scenarios. The objective of this study are to compare scenarios in terms of GHG cumulative emissions and alternative fuels. An object of analysis is the residential buildings and time frame of scenarios is set up by 2030. And this study uses the LEAP model that is a bottom-up energy model. In conclusion, It is important to set specific diffusion pathway for mitigating climate change virtually.

  • The purpose of this study is to extract keywords for 'startup' and 'entrepreneurship' from Naver news articles in Korea since 1990 and Google news articles in foreign countries, and to understand the changes in the meaning of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship in each era It is aimed at doing. In summary, first, in terms of the frequency of keywords, venture sprouting is a sample of the entrepreneurial spirit of the government-led and entrepreneurs' chairman, and various technology investments and investments in corporate establishment have been made. It can be seen that training for the development of items and items was carried out, and in the case of the venture re-emergence period, it can be seen that the youth-oriented entrepreneurship and innovation through the development of various educational programs were emphasized. Second, in the result of vocabulary network analysis, the network connection and centrality of keywords in the leap period tended to be stronger than in the germination period, but the re-leap period tended to return to the level of germination. Third, in topic analysis, it can be seen that Naver keyword topics are mostly business-related content related to support, policy, and education, whereas topics through Google News consist of major keywords that are more specifically applicable to practical work.

몰입형 전래동화 콘텐츠 제작을 위한 가상현실 기술에 대한 연구 (A Study on Virtual Reality Techniques for Immersive Traditional Fairy Tale Contents Production)

  • 본 논문은 국내 전래동화 콘텐츠를 활용한 차별화된 대화형 콘텐츠를 바탕으로 사용자의 몰입감을 극대화할 수 있는 가상현실 기술에 대하여 연구한다. 국내 전래동화에 대한 관심을 높이기 위한 목적으로 대화형 구조의 3차원 콘텐츠를 제작하고, 여기에 HMD, 립 모션과 같은 가상현실 기술을 응용하여 몰입형 시스템을 설계하기 위한 새로운 접근 방법을 제안한다. 우선 전래동화의 이야기를 바탕으로 게임방식의 상호작용을 통해 사용자의 긴장감을 높이는 장면들로 구성된 대화형 콘텐츠를 제작한다. 이를 바탕으로 사용자에게 입체감 있는 장면 전송과 현실감을 높이는 입력 처리 방식을 제공하기 위하여 오큘러스 HMD를 활용한 장면 생성, 시선기반 입력 처리 그리고 립 모션을 활용한 손 인터페이스를 설계한다. 제안한 입력 처리 기술 기반의 가상현실 콘텐츠가 사용자의 멀미 현상을 최소화한 상황에서 몰입을 높일 수 있는지 여부를 실험을 통해 확인한다.

원자력과 신재생에너지 발전설비 확대에 따른 온실가스 저감 잠재량에 관한 연구 (Assessment of GHG Emission Reduction Potential in Extension of Nuclear and Renewable Energy Electricity Generation)

  • 2005년 2월 교토의정서가 효력을 발휘하게 됨에 따라 우리나라는 세계 10위의 이산화탄소 배출국으로서 2013년 이후에는 감축의무를 지어야 할 실정이다. 특히 온실가스 배출량의 약 30%가 발전부문에 의한 것이므로 전환부문의 에너지 소비 저감은 매우 중요하다. 이에 정부는 온실가스 감축환경에 대응하기 위하여 "제1차 국가에너지기본계획"을 발표하여 원전설비를 2030년까지 최대 41%까지 확대하고, 신재생에너지보급률 또한 11%로 높이겠다는 목표를 내세웠다. 이에 근거하여 원자력과 신재생에너지발전설비를 확대하였을 경우 온실가스 저감 잠재량과 그 유효성을 LEAP(Long-range Energy Alternative Planing system)을 이용하여 정량적으로 분석하였다. 분석결과 2030년 기준으로 총 $CO_2$ 발생 저감률은 28.8% 였다. 또한 BAU 시나리오 발전량을 토대로 하였을 때 유연탄발전 $0.85\;kgCO_2/kWh$, LNG발전 $0.51\;kgCO_2/kWh$의 단위 발전량당 온실가스 배출량을 보였다. 따라서 기존설비를 대체할 시, 유연탄발전을 대체할 경우에 온실가스 저감 효과가 크다는 결론을 보였다.

  • For numerical analysis of a tidal flow, a two-dimensional hydrodynamic model is developed by solving the nonlinear shallow-water equations. The governing equations are discretized explicitly with a finite difference leap-frog scheme and a first-order upwind scheme on adaptive hierarchical quadtree grids. The developed model is verified by applying to prediction of tidal behaviors. The calculated tidal levels are compared to available field measurements. A very reasonable agreement is observed.

  • This paper presents that the lossy or amplification property of the Finite Difference-Time Domain(FD-TD) method based on the leap-frog scheme is theoretically verified by using a plane wave analysis. The basic algorithm of the FD-TD method is introduced in order to help understanding the analysis procedure. Since our analysis is formulated by the Von Neumann's approach, the stability inequality is also produced as an another outcome.

  • Creation village is to house diverse programs to complete the master plan which was established 13 years ago. The project was asked to envision the second stage leap of the college and also house programs related to the specialized creative activities with dormitory. The site is located right next to the main gate, so the project has very strong and symbolic image by its location. Therefore, the project is to carry out the college philosophy in education and also work with ideas of connection and separation with required diverse programs.

  • As Chinese philosophy has developed by commentary for the original texts, the Nine Chapters has been greatly improved by the commentary given by Liu Hui and it was transformed from an arithmetic text to Mathematics. Comparing his commentary and Chinese philosophical development up to his date, we conclude that Liu Hui was able to make such a great leap by his thorough understanding of philosophical development.
