Calculation of the Eco-Design Index for Components of the Multi-function Printer (공용 복합기 출력 기능 소모품들의 Eco Design Index 산정)

  • Conventional eco-design has been implemented based only on the environmental aspects of a product. Key components of a product identified from the analysis of the environmental aspects have been the target for improvement in the conventional eco-design. The use of eco-design index (EDI) considering both the environmental and economic aspects, and utility value (UV) of a product can be envisaged as an alternative way of implementing and assessing the eco-design. The objective of this study was to propose the logic of the EDI and apply it to the components for performing printing function of the multi-function printer. The EDI was formulated by quantifying the UV, life cycle environmental impact (LCE) and life cycle cost (LCC) of the components of a product, here components of the printer. Of the eight components investigated, roller was identified as the best performing consumable in both the environmental and economic aspects. However, its UV was the lowest among the eight. The EDI of the roller was mere $4^{th}$ in ranking out of the eight. Transfer belt ranked $8^{th}$ and $5^{th}$ in the environmental and economic aspects, respectively, while $2^{nd}$ in the utility value with its EDI ranked $3^{rd}$. This indicates that not only the environmental aspects but also economic and utility value aspects should be considered when identifying the key components for improvement in the eco-design.

The Improvements of the Tourism Field in the 6th Edition of KDC (한국십진분류법 제6판 관광학 분야의 분류체계 수정 전개 방안)

  • This study investigated general problems concerning the tourism field in the KDC 6th edition based comparative analysis academic characteristics and classification system, and suggested on some ideas for the improvements of them. Results of the study are summarized as follows. First, academic field of tourism is generally divided into a general tourism, tourists, tourism attraction, and tourism media, but classification system of tourism is limited to parts of tourism attraction and a general tourism. Tourism attraction and tourism media are dispersed among the subject. Second, I analyzed on tourism from the collection database at the National Library of Korea. Based on analysis of the data. the keyword frequency of tourism management, type, development, psychology, industry, and convention etc. was relatively high. Third, modified classification of items was basically performed through the academic characteristics of the tourism and the keyword analysis, and maintaining the existing KDC classification system caused less confusion as much as possible. Also, based on this matter was added to the relative indexes.

  • The purpose of this research is to assess the efficiency of the airline's route. The revenue source of low cost airline carriers is not various unlike regular airline carriers, because they are operating only domestic and international flights for a country of close proximity. In particular, domestic low-cost airlines in Korea can't provide cargo transport services but rely on passengers and additional services to generate profits. Therefore, it is absolutely important to maintain a low cost and effective passenger transport line. This study will suggest the way to improve efficiency of route operated by low-cost airlines. Analysis method is DEA. The input parameters and output results were selected by existing research. Based on the results of this study, it will be able to assist establishing routes and selling strategies of the low-cost airlines.

Economic Assessment of the Heat Recovery from Incineration Plants Based on Regression Analysis (회귀분석을 이용한 소각장의 소각열 회수 경제성 분석 연구)

  • This study aims at providing an economic assessment for incineration plants which recover heat during its incineration process. In this study, Life Cycle Cost(LCC) of incineration plants is performed based on each regression analysis formula for construction cost, operation cost, and heat generation in order to compare economic feasibility. The result shows that the incineration plant recovering waste heat while processing 80 tons of waste per day increases both initial investment and operation cost but this type of an incineration plant has economical predominance from the recovered waste heat over the one that does not recover heat when being operated for more than eleven years if the retrieved heat replaces the use of LNG. And its payback time reaches more than 19 years in case of selling heat and performing emission trading.

A Value Analysis of Ecological Restoration Construction Considering Life Cycle Cost and Performance - Focusing on the Wet Media for Slope Revegetation - (생애주기비용과 성능을 고려한 생태복원 공법 가치분석 - 습식 비탈면 기반재를 사례로 -)

  • In order to save costs and enhance quality in construction without damaging the environment, the VE/LCC analysis method is increasingly used. This study was carried out to conduct a value analysis for the ecological restoration of a slope considering life cycle cost and performance. The construction conditions were classified into three types(A, B, C) according to the condition of each base. Three construction methods for slope ecological restoration were selected by each condition. Eventually, a value analysis was conducted for total nine conditions by analyzing the life cycle cost and performance. The gradient of slope and base of Condition 1 were below 1:1.2 and general soil, while condition 2 and 3 were below 1:1.0(reaping rock) and below 1:0.7(soft rock, blasted rock), respectively. A value analysis was conducted based on the value estimated via life cycle cost and performance analysis. The result showed that the B construction method had the highest value in Condition 1 as it showed 108.4, while A and C showed 90.3 and 45.8, respectively. When it comes to Condition 2, Construction Method A indicated the highest value as it showed 89.1(B: 47.5, C: 47.0). In Condition 3, Construction Method A(89.1) was the highest, while B and C showed 55.4 and 40.2, respectively. Based on the result of this study, in order to make a reasonable decision that can enhance quality and reduce costs in slope ecological restoration, the slope ecological restoration method must be reviewed in consideration of life cycle cost and performance.

A Study on Comparative Analysis of Mammography and Tc-99m MIBI Scintimammography for Dense Breast (치밀형 유방에서 유방특이감마영상검사의 유용성 평가)

  • Purpose: This study was to evaluate usefulness of $^{99m}Tc$-MIBI scintimammography for dense breast by comparing concordance in test results between Tc-99m MIBI scintimammography and mammography whose effect was proved the most as an imaging tool depending on breast density and at the same time by examining limitation on evaluation depending on density of breast tissue. [Materials and Methods] In the period from December 2010 to July 2011, this study targeted 150 patients who took both of $^{99m}Tc$-MIBI scintimammography and mammography conducted by using breast gamma camera in this hospital. Breast density was classified to the four levels of pattern 1~4 based on the results of mammography. $^{99m}Tc$-MIBI scintimammography was conducted with the LCC, the RCC, the LMLO, and the RML one minute after intravenous injection of 99mTc-MIBI 7400 MBq (20 mCi) while analysis was made for concordance in test results of $^{99m}Tc$-MIBI scintimammography and mammography. [Results] Among the 150 patients, pattern 1 was found in 3 patients, pattern 2 in 44 patients, pattern 3 in 61 patients, and pattern 4 in 37 patients. There were 5 patients who showed the case where it was impossible to determine density of breast tissue due to foreign body inserted to breast. The concordance ratio of the results between $^{99m}Tc$-MIBI scintimammography and mammography was 95.5% for pattern 2, 95.1% for pattern 3 and 94.6% for pattern 4. This demonstrated that the concordance rate decreased according to the increase in breast density. [Conclusion] When there was limitation on evaluation of breast specific gamma imaging test results due to increased intake in breast tissue or surgical site, the concordance rate was 6.8% for pattern 2, 16.3% for pattern 3 and 18.9% for pattern 4. This demonstrated that the degree of limitation on evaluation of breast specific gamma imaging test results increased according to the increase in breast density.

  • The development of a Pay Adjustment (PA) procedure for implementing Performance-related Specifications (PRS) is known to be a difficult task faced by most State Highway Agencies (SHAs) due to the difficulty in such areas as selecting pay factor items, modeling the relationship between stochastic variability of pay factor items and pavement performance, and determining an overall lot pay adjustment. This led to the need for an effective way of developing a scientific pay adjustment procedure by incorporating Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) embedded Monte Carlo approach. In this work, we propose a prototype system to determine a PA specifically using the data in the pavement management information systems at Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) as an exemplary to other SHAs. It is believed that the PRS methodology demonstrated in this study can be used in real projects by incorporating the more accurate and reliable performance prediction models and LCC model.

  • After reformation of 'the law of private investment on social infrastructure' on January 2005, BTL of educational facilities can improve the education circumstance at early stage, however there are trial and error, problems of execution as well. The key of this problem is not only related to whether BTL project is more reasonable, but it also leads to the proper performance of eligibility analysis on BTL. Therefore, it lead to the proper carryout of eligibility analysis on BTL. In order to promote effective BTL project of educational facilities, this study analyzes problems of existing model and creates the evaluation model for solving this problem. In this study, the evaluation model of investment on BTL has more quick ,accuracy and useful effect than previous one, if it is applied on eligibility stage. Moreover, this method could be applied to public building, SOC facilities effectively based on being modified as each characteristics of structure suitably.

  • Over the past twenty years, the maintenance system has been developed and its importance has been increased. For the effective maintenance of the urban transit, we have developed the maintenance system based on the concept of RCM(Reliability Centered Maintenance). RCM analysis is a systematic approach to developing a cost-effective maintenance strategy based on the various components's reliability of the system in question. It is performed according to process that includes the following steps; definition of function and functional failures of the systems, construction of RB D(Reliability Block Diagram), performance of FMEA(Failure Modes & Effects Analysis) and calculation of the reliability index. The final process of RCM is to determine appropriate failure maintenance strategies. This paper aims to define the procedure of maintenace based on the concept of RCM for urban transit. The key for a successful maintenance system is an automated scheduling to the maximum extent possible and timely executions. The developed system issues maintenance plan and repair request based on analyzed data and maintenance experience.
