A Study on the Deposition Transfer state of Organic Thin Films(Arac.acid) (유기박막(Arac.acid)의 누적전이상태에 관한 연구)

  • The characterization of organic Metal/Insulator/Metal(MIM) devices were investigated from LB films. The physicochemical properties of the LB films were by UV absorption spectrum and AFM. We give pressure stimulation into organic thin films and then manufacture a device under the accumulation condition that the state surface pressure is 2, 10, 30[mN/ml The stable images are probably due to a strong interaction between the monolayer film and glass substrate. We are unable to obtain molecule resolution in images of the films but did see a marked contrast between images of the bare substrate and those with the network structure film deposited onto it.

  • Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) technique can speak the best candidate of the future molecular electronic devices. But, precursor as molecular ultrathin film devices require the bulk property that are influenced by the molecular orientation. So, this device is one of current interest in molecular electronic device development of new materials. In this study, quantitative evaluation of molecular orientation in LB films of polyamic acid alkylamine salt was performed analysis experiment comparing the absorption or transmission intensity of the FT-IR spectrometer and reflection or absorption spectra with UV-visible absorption spectra. It could find that the polar angle(${\theta}$) of the dipole moment appears in about $68^{\circ}$ and the tilting angle of the alkyl chain is about $11.5^{\circ}$.

  • Studies and measurements of open circuit voltage in a metal/insulator/metal structure where metal are electrodes, when the insulator molecules have dipole moments all oriented parallel to each other have been reported here. The measured voltage has been shown to be directed related to the dipole moment of the molecules in the films. The insulator ultra thin films was deposited on them by the Langmuir-Blodgett technique to obtain the structure referred to as z type and Hetero structure of LB films.

  • Enhancing the electrical conductivity of the ultrathin organic films is one of the important factors for the development of molecular electronic devices. The Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) technique has recently been attracted interest as the a method of deposition ultrathin films. We have fabricated N-docosyl-N'-methyl viologen-diTCNQ(DMVT) anion radical LB film and investigated the optical and electrical conductivity. We have measured UV/visible and FT-lR spectrum. In ESR spectrum, we confirmed that a half-amplitude linewidth is clearly dependent on both temperature and incident angle, which indicates conducting species change. The in-plane electrical conductivity of 21 layers is approximately 1.37$\times$10$^{-6}$ (S/cm).

  • Maxwell displacement current (MDC) measurement has been employed to study the dielectric property of Langmuir-films. A method for determining the dielectric relaxation time $\tau$ of floating monolayers on water surface is presented. WC flowing across monolayers is analyzed using a rod-like molecular model. It is revealed that the dielectric relaxation time $\tau$ of monolayers in the isotropic polar orientational phase is determined using a liner relationship between the monolayer compression speed ${\alpha}$ and the molecular area Am. Compression speed ${\alpha}$ was about 30, 40, 50mm/min.

  • The present paper is devoted to the physical and electrical characteristics of N-docosyl- quinolinium-TCNQ films compared with the films doped with I$_2$. Iodine affects the degree of charge transfer and the conductivity of the films. The UV-visible absorption spectra of the film doped with I$_2$ shows that the peak of I$_3$ which had electronic transition at 300∼350nm and (TCNQ-)$_2$ dimer absorption disappered. The in-plane electrical conductivity of the films doped with I$_2$ were 1.4${\times}$10$\sub$-6/S/cm, which is two orders of magnitude higher conductivity than undoped LB films. The film structural difference between Y and Z-type may cause the conductivity. Another possible reasons of the structural difference was the overlapping TCNQ anion radical in LB films.

  • It is well known that the metallo- phthalocyanine (MPcs) are sensitive to toxic gaseous molecules such as NO$_2$and also chemically and thermally stable. Therefore, lots of MPcs have been studied for the potential chemical sensor for NO$_2$gas using quartz crystal microbalance(QCM) or electrical conductivity. In this study, thin films of octa(2-ethylhexyloxy) copper-phthalocyanine were prepared by Langmuir -Blodgett method and characterized by using UV-VIS spectroscopy and ellipsometry. Transfer condition, and characterization of LB films were investigated and preliminary results of current-voltage(I-V) characteristics of these films exposed to NO$_2$gas as a function of film thickness, temperature and temperature were discussed.

Electrochemical Characteristics of 5,10,15,20-Tetrakis-Octadecyloxymethylphenyl-Porphyrin-Zn(II) Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) Films

  • Since Metallo-Porphyrin (MP) is very interesting compound due to its unique electronic and redox properties and it is also chemically and thermally stable, MP has been studied for potential memory and switching devices. In this study, thin films of 5,10,15,20-Tetrakis-Octadecyloxymethylphenyl-Porphyrin-Zn(II) were prepared by the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) method and characterized by using UV/vis absorption spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. It was found that the proper transfer surface pressure for film deposition was 25 mN/m and the limiting area per molecule was 135 ${\AA}^2$/molecule. The current-voltage (I-V) characteristics of these films were investigated. Further details on the electrical properties of Porphyrin-Zn(II) derivative films will be discussed.
