  • The present study was carried out to investigate how two languages are represented and processed for the late Korean-English bilinguals. To this end, we compared the naming times of Korean-English bilinguals on a series of the picture-word interference tasks. The entire experiment is divided into four parts, each of which required participants to name the pictures in Korean or in English with distractor words visually presented either in Korean or English. The distractor words were semantically related or unrelated to the picture. The results showed that, in different language conditions (L1 naming-L2 distractor, L2 naming - L1 distractor), there was only numerical difference between semantic related and unrelated condition. In same language conditions (L1 naming-L1 distractor, L2 naming-L2 distractor), however, significant semantic interference effect occurred. And, the interference effect was stronger in the L1 distractor condition than in the L2 distractor condition. These results suggest that the semantic processing of L1 and L2 for the late bilinguals are independent each other.

  • To design a new Navigation Satellite System signal, we should analyze the influence of inter-system interference to existing Global Navigation Satellite Systems(GNSS). Various GNSS systems such as GSP, GALILEO, Compass use same frequence band and incur inter-system interference due to the overlapping spectrums. In this paper, we consider L2 Band for new Navigation Satellite System and propose the BOCcos(15,2.5) signal what has least Spectral Separation Coefficient with GPS L2 system. Assuming 4 stationary satellite over Korea, we simulate the effect of interference. As a result, proposed system shows very small mutual interference effect and negligible effective signal to noise ratio(SNR) loss, compared to the interferences between GNSS systems in L1 Band.

  • Interference effects in five square tall buildings arranged in an L- or T-shaped pattern are investigated in the wind tunnel. Mean and fluctuating shear forces, overturning moments and torsional moment are measured on each building with a force balance mounted at its base. Results are obtained at two values of clear separation between adjacent buildings, at half and a quarter building breadth. It is found that strong interference effect exists on all member buildings, resulting in significant modifications of wind loads as compared with the isolated single building case. Sheltering effect is observed on wind loads acting along the direction of an arm of the "L" or "T" on the inner buildings. However, increase in these wind loads from the isolated single building case is found on the most upwind edge building in the arm when wind blows at a slight oblique angle to the arm. The corner formed by two arms of buildings results in some wind catchment effect leading to increased wind pressure on windward building faces. Interesting interference phenomena such as negative drag force are reported. Interference effects on wind load fluctuations, load spectra and dynamic building responses are also studied and discussed.

  • In order to propose new satellite navigation signals, it is essential to analyze the increased level of interference effect that the existing signals suffer. In this paper, a method for estimating the power density of the interference signals on GPS signals is proposed before and after the additional transmission of the KPS signals in the L1, L2 and L5 bands. For estimation, we assume the number of visible satellites observed over the Korean peninsular and the minimum received power of the satellite navigation signals. The comparison of the estimated values shows that the power density of the interfering signal increases by up to 1.37 dB due to the introduction of KPS, but this leads to an increase in interference plus noise power density below 0.47 dB.

  • The complication caused by a bioabsorbable interference screw composed of Poly-L-Lactic-Acid is rare after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. We reported a case of a pretibial ganglion at the orifice of the tibial tunnel where the graft tendon had been fixed with a bioabsorbable interference screw $(Bioscrew^{\circledR})$ for ACL reconstruction using autogenous hamstring tendon. The patient was underwent ganglion excision and interference screw removal.

  • This paper presents the GPS receiver's inherent interference effectiveness based on the receiver's internal processing gain. This research is to verify the weakness of the GPS satellite signals and evaluate the receiver's vulnerability in an interference situation. The experiment for the narrow band interference effectiveness for the L1 C/A code GPS receiver has been performed by using the Spirent GSS4765 jamming simulator. After analyzing the experimental result, it is compared with the calculated J/S value of the two different L1 C/A code GPS receivers. By the above result, the narrowband jamming effectiveness of the each jamming source and the jamming margin for the each receiver are to be analyzed in detail. Finally, we could utilize the result to analyze the jamming effectiveness on the GNSS receiver.

  • Ths signal processing technqiue of FET type electrolyte sensors using the back propagation neural network was studied to reduce the interference effects of the different electrolytes. The FET-type electrolyte sensors, pH-ISFET, K-ISFET, and Ca-ISFET, were prepared to measure the pH, K, and Ca electrolytes. Neural network consisted of three layers was learned with 8 patterns and 9 patterns. The sensor output obtained with arbitrary concentrations was processed by the learned neural network. The errors obtained from calibration curve for pH, K, and Ca were .+-.0.039 pH, .+-.2.508 mmol/l, and .+-.1.807 mmol/l, respectively, without considering the interference effects. The errors of the network output for pH, K, and Ca were reduced to .+-.0.005 pH, .+-.0.436 mmol/l, and .+-.0.381 mmol/l in case of 9 patterns, respectively. the signal processing using the neural network can reduce the errors ofthe electrolyte sensor outputs caused by the interference effect, thereby providing effectiveness in the improvement of the sensor selectivity.

  • In this paper, we analyze the interference effects between NGSO(Non-Geostationary Orbit) and HAPS(High Altitude Platform System) by dividing into two cases. The one is interference effects of HAPS into NGSO, the another is the interference effects of NGSO into HAPS. At the result, we canknow the interference effect into NGSO mobile station is the highest when position of NGSO is $95^{\circ}$. In this case, we can also know the interference effects from both HAPS and NGSO exceed interference criteria when the number of users are more than 20. And, in the case of the interference effect into HAPS mobile station, we can know it is the highest when elevation angle of NGSO is $87^{\circ}$, and the interference effects from both NGSO and HAPS exceed interference criteria when the number of users is more then 10. Moreover, the interference effect is the minimum, when elevation angle of NGSO is $64^{\circ}$, at this time, in case that the number of users of NGSO equal to the number of user of HAPS, the interference effects exceed interference criteria when the number of users is 190.

  • This paper drives the exact expression of bit error rate(BER) performance for groupwise iterative-multipath interference cancellation(GWI-MPIC) algorithm for cancelling multipath interference components in a coherent high-speed downlink packet access(HSDPA) system of W-CDMA downlink and the BER performance is evaluated by numerical analysis. The performance of GWI-MPIC is compared to the successive interference cancellation(SIC) algorithm for multipath components. From numerical results, the optimal average BER performance of weighting factor ${\beta}$$\_$h/ for interference cancellation is obtained at ‘${\beta}$$\_$h/=0.8’ and then this weighting factor is hereafter applied to other performance analysis. Numerical results showed that the average BER performance of GWI-MPIC algorithm is rapidly degraded at multipath L=6, but is revealed the good performance than that of SIC algorithm in terms of increasing the number of multipath. This results also indicated that the average BER performance is greatly degraded due to increasing interference power more than multicode K=8. The average BER performance of the proposed algorithm is superior to the performance of SIC algorithm about 3 ㏈ for processing gain PG=128 at multipath L=2 and Average BER=1.0${\times}$10$\^$-5/. And also, the results produced good performance in case of linear monotonic reduction of multipath fading channel gain than that of constant channel gain variation, because multipath fading channel gain which is arrived later is small.

  • Different cores typically share the last-level cache in a multi-core processor. Threads running on different cores may interfere with each other. Therefore, the multi-core worst-case execution time (WCET) analyzer must be able to safely and accurately estimate the worst-case inter-thread cache interference. This is not supported by current WCET analysis techniques that manly focus on single thread analysis. This paper presents a novel approach to analyze the worst-case cache interference and bounding the WCET for threads running on multi-core processors with shared L2 instruction caches. We propose to use an interference matrix to model inter-thread interference, on which basis we can calculate the worst-case inter-thread cache interference. Our experiments indicate that the proposed approach can give a worst-case bound less than 1%, as in benchmark fib-call, and an average 16.4% overestimate for threads running on a dual-core processor with shared-L2 cache. Our approach dramatically improves the accuracy of WCET overestimatation by on average 20.0% compared to work.
