릴레이 코일을 포함한 자기 공명 방식 무선 전력 전송 시스템의 분석 및 모델링 (Analysis and Modeling of Wireless Power Transfer Systems using Magnetically Coupled Resonator Scheme with Relay Coils)

  • In this paper, characteristics of wireless power transfer (WPT) systems using magnetically coupled resonance scheme with relay coils are investigated and modeled. Especially, asymmetric frequency splitting characteristics in over-coupled region of WPT with relays are measured and accurately modeled. Transmitter, receiver, and relay coils are modeled with R, L, C equivalent circuits. Using these circuit models and mutual inductances between coils, a WPT system is described with a linear matrix equation. For under-coupled region, a matrix is simplified considering only mutual inductances between adjacent coils. An analytical transfer characteristic of WPT system vs. distance is extracted using an inverse matrix that is acquired by Gauss elimination method for the simplified matrix. For over-coupled region, a matrix considering mutual inductances between non-adjacent coils is used to predict a frequency splitting characteristics accurately. A 6.3MHz WPT system with relay coils is implemented and measured. An accuracy of the model is investigated by comparing the output of the model with the measured results.

  • 한강에서 추출한 휴믹물질의 산화를 위해 회전 반응기를 도입하였다. $TiO_2$ 광촉매의 혼합을 위해 사용되는 공기는 UV 램프와 광촉매 사이에서 UV 조사를 방해할 수 있으므로, 더 나은 UV 조사율을 위해 반응기 내부에 배플이 설치된 회전 반응기를 고안하였다. FT-IR, $^{13}C$-NMR의 분석 결과, 한강 휴믹물질은 다른 상용화된 휴믹물질과는 다른 특성을 보여주었다. XAD-7HP 수지로 분리된 한강 휴믹물질을, 반응 후 광촉매의 분리 및 회수문제를 해결하기 위해, $TiO_2$를 hollow bead에 고정화한 광촉매와 UV-A, UV-C 램프를 사용하여 광촉매산화시켰다. 초기 휴믹물질의 TOC 농도가 5 mg/L일 때, 초기 pH 3, $TiO_2$ 주입률 2.0 g/L을 최적 조건으로 결정하였다. 또한 UV-C와 UV-A 램프의 비교실험을 수행한 결과, 비슷한 TOC 제거율을 보였다. 하지만, 분자량 분포 실험 결과, UV-A 램프보다 UV-C 램프로 광촉매산화시킨 것이 상대적으로 저분자량 부분이 증가하였다.

An Unusual Case of Post-Operative Spondylitis Caused by $Mycobacterium$ $Intracellulare$ in an Immunosuppressed Patient

  • There are few reported cases of post-operative spondylitis caused by $Mycobacterium$ $Intracellulare$. A 75-year-old female presented to our hospital with low back pain and paraparesis after a fall. The radiologic examination revealed compression fractures of L1, L3 and L4 and an epidural hematoma compressing the spinal cord. The dark-red epidural hematoma was urgently evacuated. Four weeks post-operatively, neurologic deficits recurred with fever. On magnetic resonance image, an epidural abscess and osteomyelitis were detected in the previous operative site. Five weeks post-operatively, revision was performed with multiple biopsies. The specimen were positive for acid-fast bacilli and traditional anti-tuberculous medications were started. Because the Polymerase Chain Reaction for non-tuberculous mycobacterium (NTM) was positive, the anti-tuberculous medications were changed to anti-NTM drugs. However, the neurologic deficits did not improve and persistent elevation of erythrocyte sedimentation rate and C-reactive protein were noted. Eight weeks after the revision, $Mycobacterium$ $Intracellulare$ was detected in the specimen cultures. Despite supportive care with medication, the patient died due to multiple organ failure.

성악인에서 발성 시 음의 높낮이에 따른 성도 길이의 변화 (The Change of the Length of Vocal Tract in Singers according to the Phonation at Different Levels of Pitch)

  • Background and Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the change of vocal tract length according to the level of the pitch by the singers. Materials and Methods: Fifteen tenors were asked to produce successive /a/ sound in G4(382Hz) for the head register, C3(131Hz) for the chest register and usual speaking sound. The control group consisted of 15 males of an similar age who are not professional singers. The length of vocal tract was calculated by applying the formula of Fn=(2n-1) c/4L(F : formant frequency, c : the speed of sound in the vocal tract(350m/sec), L : length of vocal tract, $n=1,2,3,4,{\ldots}{\infty}$). Results: In singer's group, there showed no significant statistical difference of length among head and chest register and usual speaking sound. However in the control group, there showed statistically significant difference of length. Comparison of the absolute difference in the length of vocal tract by changing level of pitch in phonation, between the control group and the singers group. Changing from G4 phonation to C3 phonation and C3 phonation to usual speaking sound showed statistically difference of vocal tract length was less in the singers group than the control group. Conclusion: The change of vocal tract length, in either speaking or singing, was less in singers than the control group. We could assume that the singers maintain their larynx position constantly throughout the pitch range when phonation.

Product-Resolved Photodissociations of Iodotoluene Radical Cations

  • Photodissociations of o-, m-, and p-iodotoluene radical cations were investigated by using Fourier-transform ion cyclotron resonance (FT-ICR) spectrometry. Iodotoluene radical cations were prepared in an ICR cell by a photoionization charge-transfer method. The time-resolved one-photon dissociation spectra were obtained at 532 nm and the identities of $C_7H_7^+$ products were determined by examining their bimolecular reactivities toward toluene-$d_8$. The two-photon dissociation spectra were also recorded in the wavelength range 615-670 nm. The laser power dependence, the temporal variation, and the identities of $C_7H_7^+$ were examined at 640 nm. The mechanism of unimolecular dissociation of iodotoluene radical cations is elucidated: the lowest barrier rearrangement channel leads exclusively to the formation of the benzyl cation, whereas the direct C-I cleavage channel yields the tolyl cations that rearrange to both benzyl and tropylium cations with dissimilar branching ratios among o-, m-, and p-isomers. With a two-photon energy of 3.87 eV at 640 nm, the direct C-I cleavage channel results in the product branching ratio, [tropylium cation]/[benzyl cation], in descending order, 0.16 for meta >0.09 for ortho >0.05 for para.

발목관절 VISTA 자기공명영상에서 정량평가와 인대의 Traceability: 지방억제 대비 지방억제기법 (Quantitative Assessment and Ligament Traceability of Volume Isotropic Turbo Spin Echo Acquisition (VISTA) Ankle Magnetic Resonance Imaging: Fat Suppression versus without Fat Suppression)

  • 목적: 발목관절 VISTA 자기공명영상을 이용하여 지방억제를 한 것과 하지 않은 VISTA 사이에서 정량평가를 하며, 발목 인대의 traceability 차이를 알아보고자 하였다. 대상과 방법: SNR의 비교를 위해 팬텀과 한명의 자원자에서 자기공명영상을 촬영하였다. CR (contrast ratio)과 인대 traceability 비교를 위해 발목 관절의 외상 과거력이 없는 10명의 자원자에서 자기공명영상을 촬영하였다. 모든 자기공명영상은 VISTA를 이용하였고 3T에서 촬영하였다. 지방억제는 SPAIR (Spectral Attenuated Inversion Recovery) 기법을 이용하였다. SNR은 피검자가 있을 때와 피검자 없이 촬영한 것으로 구하였다. CR은 열개의 오른쪽 발목관절의 관절액-힘줄, 관절액-연골, 관절액-인대, 지방-힘줄, 지방-연골, 지방-인대의 신호강도를 얻어 구하였다. 두 명의 근골격계 영상의학과 의사가 지방억제를 한 것과 하지 않은 영상을 calcaneofibular ligament (CFL)을 포함한 7개의 발목관절 인대에 대해서 점수를 매겼다 (1, not traceable; 2, barely traceable; 3, adequately traceable; 4, excellently traceable). VISTA 와 VISTA SPAIR 사이에 CR을 비교하는 데는 Wilcoxon signed-rank test를 이용하였다. VISTA 와 VISTA SPAIR사이에 인대 traceability를 비교하는 데에는 Fisher's exact test와 Pearson's chi-squared test를 이용하였다. 결과: 정량평가의 SNR을 보면 지방억제를 하지 않은 영상에 비해 지방억제를 한 자원자의 골수에서 더 낮은 수치를 나타내었다. (7.65 versus [vs.] 36.64). 관절액, 연골, 근육에서는 두 연쇄간에 SNR의 차이가 없었다. 지방억제 VISTA는 관절액-인대 사이 CR만 더 나은 결과를 보여주었지만 (p=0.04) VISTA는 지방-힘줄, 지방-연골, 지방-인대 간에서 모두 더 나은 CR값을 나타내었다(P=0.005). CFL 인대만 통계학적으로 의미 있는 값을 보였는데 지방억제를 하지 않은 VISTA 영상에서 traceability의 값이 더 우세 하였다(p <0.05). 결론: 지방 억제를 한 VISTA와 하지 않은 VISTA에서 유의한 SNR 차이는 골수를 제외하고 없었다. 지방억제를 하지 않은 VISTA에서 CFL을 trace하는데 있어서 더 유리하였다.

Experimental investigation on effect of ion cyclotron resonance heating on density fluctuation in SOL at EAST

  • The suppression of high-intensity blob structures in the scrape-off layer (SOL) by ion-cyclotron range of frequencies (ICRF) power, leading to a decrease in the turbulent fluctuation level, is observed first in the Experimental Advanced Superconducting Tokamak (EAST) experiment. This suppression effect from ICRF power injection is global in the whole SOL at EAST, i.e. blob structures both in the regions that are magnetically connected to the active ICRF launcher and in the regions that are not connected to the active ICRF launcher could be suppressed by ICRF power. However, more ICRF power is required to reach the full blob structure suppression effect in the regions that are magnetically unconnected to the active launcher than in the regions that are magnetically connected to the active launcher. Studies show that a possible reason for the blob suppression could be the enhanced Er × B shear flow in the SOL, which is supported by the shaper radial gradient in the floating potential profiles sensed by the divertor probe arrays with increasing ICRF power. The local RF wave power unabsorbed by the core plasma is responsible for the modification of potential profiles in the SOL regions.

DNA Mediated Energy Transfer from 4',6-Diamidino-2-phenylindole to Ru(II)[(1,10-phenanthroline)2L]2+ : Effect of Ligand Structure

  • It was proposed that Ru(II)[(1,10-phenanthroline)$_2$dipyrido[3,2-a:2',3'-c]phenazine ([Ru(phen)$_2$DPPZ]$^{2+}$)complexes and 4',6-diamidino-2-phenylindole (DAPI) simultaneously bind to poly[d(A-T)$_2$] (Biophysics. J. 2003, 85, 3865). Förster type resonance energy transfer from excited DAPI to [Ru(phen)2DPPZ]$^{2+}$ complexes was observed. In this study, we synthesized $\Delta$- and $\wedge$-[Ru(phenanthroline)$_2$dipyrido[3,2-a:2’3’c]6-azaphenazine] ([Ru(phen)$_2$DPAPZ]$^{2+}$) at which the DNA intercalating ligand DPPZ was replaced and we studied its binding properties to poly[d(A-T)$_2$] in the presence and absence of DAPI using polarized spectroscopy and fluorescence techniques. All the spectroscopic properties of the [Ru(phen)$_2$DPAPZ]$^{2+}$-poly[d(A-T)$_2$] complex were the same in the presence and absence of DAPI that blocks the minor groove of polynucleotide, suggesting both $\Delta$- and $\wedge$-[Ru(phen)$_2$DPAPZ]$^{2+}$ complexes are located at the major groove of poly[d(A-T)2]. On the other hand, in contrast with [Ru(phen)$_2$DPPZ]$^{2+}$, both $\Delta$- and $\wedge$-[Ru(phen)$_2$DPAPZ]$^{2+}$ exhibited almost twice the efficiency in the fluorescence quenching of DAPI that binds at the minor groove of poly[d(A-T)$_2$]. This observation indicates that the efficiency of the Förster type resonance energy transfer can be controlled by a small change in the chemical structure of the intercalated ligand.

Thermal-Induced Osteonecrosis of Adjacent Vertebra after Intradiscal Electrothermal Therapy

  • A 42-year-old man was admitted to our hospital with complaints of low back pain and intermittent right thigh pain. Twelve weeks before admission, the patient received intradiscal electrothermal therapy (IDET) at a local hospital. The patient still reported low back pain after the procedure that was managed with narcotic analgesics. Follow-up magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was performed, and his referring physician thought the likely diagnosis was spondylodiscitis at the L4-5 spinal segment with a small epidural abscess. At admission to our department, the patient reported aggravated low back pain. Blood test results, including the erythrocyte sedimentation rate and C-reactive protein levels, were slightly elevated. Biopsy samples of the L4, L5 vertebral bodies and disk were obtained. The material underwent aerobic, anaerobic, fungal, mycobacterial cultures and histologic examination. Results of all cultures were negative. Histologically, necrosis of the bone was evident from the number of empty osteocyte lacunae. In addition, there was no evidence of infection based on biopsy results. No antibiotic treatment was administered on discharge. Repeat computed tomography and MRI performed 12 months after IDET showed a bony defect in the L4 and L5 vertebral bodies, and a decrease in the size of the L4-5 intervertebral disc lesion. We report a case of lumbar vertebral osteonecrosis induced by IDET and discuss etiology and radiologic features.

Inhibitory Activity against Helicobacter pylori of Isolated Compounds from Pinus koraiensis Siebold et Zucc Leaves

  • A phenol substance was extracted from Pinus koraiensis Siebold et Zucc leaf extracts and its biological efficacy was measured. The highest content of the phenol substance contained in Pinus koraiensis Siebold et Zucc leaves was 13.5 mg/g, which was obtained when it was extracted with 80% ethanol. At a concentration of 200 mg/mL, the phenolic substances extracted with 80% ethanol and water showed antimicrobial activities against Helicobacter pylori, producing clear zones of 10 and 12 mm diameter, respectively. Pinus koraiensis Siebold et Zucc. leaf extracts were separated using a Sephadex LH-20 column and 4 fractions were obtained (fractions A-D). Fractions C and D showed the greatest inhibitory activity against Helicobacter pylori producing 10.1 and 12.3 mm clear zones, respectively. These two fractions were purified using a Sephadex LH-20 and MCI-gel column ($H_2O{\rightarrow}100%$ ethanol). Purified compounds A and B were identified as syringic acid and compound C was identified as p-coumaric acid based on $^1H$-nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), $^{13}C$-NMR, and fast atom bombardment mass spectrometry spectra. When two or more purified compounds were mixed, a synergistic effect of anti-Helicobacter pylori activity was evident. This result indicates that extracts of Pinus koraiensis Siebold et Zucc leaves could be considered a functional food because of their high antimicrobial properties.
