A Study on the Consumer′s Clothing Behavior Related to the Environmental Consciousness I

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of environmentally conscious consumer behavior, and to identify the influencing variables and causal relationship. Data were collected from questionnaires with 275 housewives who were residents of Seoul and Kyunggi-do. The major findings were as follows : (1) The level of environmentally conscious behavior differed significantly according to occupation, income, averaged monthly clothing expenses, residence type and residential area. (2) The consumer's clothing behavior related to the environmental consciousness differed significantly according to age, education, matrimonial status, income, average monthly clothing expenses, residence type and residential area. (3) The use of mass media differed significantly in the consumer's environmental consciousness.

아침식사 여부에 따른 쌀음식 섭취 형태 및 선택 - 경기지역 아침출근자를 중심으로 - (Rice Preference Differences in Subjects Taking Breakfast Regularly and Skipping Breakfast in Kyeonggi-do Residence)

  • Carbohydrate intake is decreasing along with the reduction of rice consumption among the Korean population. There is an increasing trend of diet-related degenerative diseases with the increased consumption of animal food, and therefore, the increase of animal food intake can be considered as one of causes of the diet-related disease. The objective of this study is to investigate the differences in rice preference and breakfast patterns between the subjects have breakfast regularly and those skipping it. One thousand participants were selected by the stratified sample method from the primary, middle, high school and college, and company workers from 24 cities of Kyeonggi-do. The interviewing procedure was carried by regional home extension workers. Approximately half participants (49.9%) were under the age of 20. Although 86% of the subjects considered eating breakfast good for health. only 46.4% of the subjects had breakfast regularly (HB). The rest of them skipped breakfast (SB) more than twice a week. The proportion of subjects hiving no breakfast were 9.3% of male and 12.2% of female subjects. The main reason for not having breakfast was due to the limited time. For their breakfast 85% of the HB ate boiled rice with the side dishes. More subjects in SB (27.8%) preferred the boiled rice with various grains for breakfast than those of HB (21.8%). The subjects in HB (65.5%) preferred boiled plein rice more than those of SB (56.9%). In cases they must have breakfast, 47.7% of the subjects wanted rice with the side dishes,24.2% preferred rice ball or rice roll with laver, 10.5% preferred a rice beverage. More subjects in HB (59.8%) wanted rice with side dishes than those in SB (36.9%). It was found out that selecting rice at the breakfast is still the main choice. Diverse ready-to-eat rice menus have to be developed to increase the rice consumption, specially to increase breakfast eating frequencies of SB through saving time and effort. 여고생과 여대생의 성지식과 성태도에 대한 비교 (Difference in Sexual Knowledge and Attitudes between High School and College Girls)

  • Purpose: This study was performed to identify the difference in attitudes and knowledge between high school and college girls regarding sexual education. Method: Data was collected from questionnaires given to 99 high school girls and 110 college girls in Seoul and Kyunggi-do. Data was analyzed using the SPSS 12.0 program. Result: In middle school, the time given to sexual education influenced the students present knowledge of sexual education. The sources of sex education were friends, seniors and mass media. The score for sexual knowledge in high school girls was 12.78 and for college girls 24.19. The field that obtained the highest score in territorial sexual knowledge was 'reproductive physiology' in the high school girls. There was little awareness of venereal disease, AIDS, contraception. Sexual attitudes among college girls was more open than that of high school girls. There was a positive correlation between sexual knowledge and attitudes(r=.535, p<.001). The significant difference of items were residence and sexual experience(p<.001). Conclusion: This study was shown that realistic knowledge teaching of venereal diseases, contraception and AIDS should be included in planning of sexual education programs. Specially, the groups had sexual experience and college girls in the dormitory will need more specific teaching.

경기도 음식문화의 연구 (Dietary Survey in Kyunggido Area)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the contemporary dietary life of residence in Kyunggi province. People living in Kimpo, Yoju districts(farm villages), Kapyung districts (mountain villages) and Hwasung districts (fishing villages) were selected for this research as subjects from August S to 19,1997. The results of the survey are summarized as follows: 1. Cooked rice was a staple food. However nuddles and soojaebees(soup with dough flakes) was taken as lunch or snacks but Juk(rice guel) or Dduk(rice cake) was not treated as a meal. 2. Dishes were consisted with soup or chigae, kimchi and namul(seasoned vegetables), and fishes, meats, salted sea foods, dried fishes, jangacchi(dried seasoning radish) were also taken by sometimes. 3. Soy sauce, bean paste, red pepper bean paste were made by every home even if they were very busy. 4. Festival days such as New Year's Day, daeborum(the 15th day of January), chusok(mid-autumn festival), and kosaa(October ceremony) and dongee(one of 24 seasons by lunar calendar) are skipped oftenly and slowly forgotten by people. They do not celebrate Samgin-nal(the third day of March), Buddha's birthday(the 8th day of April by lunar calendar), danoh(the 5th day of May), yoodoo(the 15th day of June), chilsok(the 7th day of July), Jungyang(the 9th day of September) and the last day of the year either 5. Due to improved kitchen system, we couldn't see the old kitchen devices.
