Wang -gok Villages was forming the space marking the centripetal system from frame composed of adjacent mountains and the cosy and comfortable space perccplively and psychologically, and both the openness and closeness existed together The analysis of the circulation structure in the exterior spaces of home showed that generally one must pass through kitchen to approach to the rear yard having the strong decree of enclosure and privacy. The determinants of the space organization in Wang-gok villages and the exterior of its homes were direction and gradient as natural factor, and traditional thought, action and social class as sococultural factors. The configuration of rear garden was classified into flat type, terrace type and mixed type of natural hill and terrace. The rear garden was created purposely and actively, emphasizing the harmony with and approach to nature.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the consumers'evaluation for image and price of Saenghwal Hanbok. Data were collected by Questionnaire from 400 men and women living in Seoul area between August and September of 1998, and 374 questionnaires were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test and factor analysis. As a result, consumers perceived Saenghwal Hanbok as 'comfortable' and 'individualistic' compared with western dress. Git(collar) and Gorum (ribbons) or Maedup(braided buttons) of Jeokori(jacket) were selected as having traditional image the most. 245 people(65%) answered that the general impression of Saenghwal Hanbok wearers was favorable. Saenghwal hanbok was thought to be appropriate when priced between 30,000 and 200,000 won per suit. And the intention to continue wearing Saenghwal Hanbok in the future was very positive.

The aims of this study show the purpose of writing[Ka-ryae] and its transmission and operation from the end of Koryo to Chosun dynasty. And Studying of a traditional marriage ceremony as shown in [Ka-ryae], We intend to find a mental meaning and value in it. The major findings this study are as follows. 1. Though [Ka-ryae] was written by Chu-Ja who lived in the period of South-Song of China, it had greatly influenced the thought, system and life of Korean society from the end of Koryo to Chosun dynasty. 2. Studying the content of [Ka-ryae], we learned the respect, discretion and reghtness as the mental meaning and value of a marriage ceremony.

In modern society, the succession and development of tradition can be an enabler of the state in the flow of culture, and the process of modernizing traditional costumes is meaningful work. Neckties are essential in modern Korean men's wear, and they are an important part of men's ornamentation. Accordingly, this study aims to present a necktie design that applies the traditional men's ornaments such as the Ip, Ipyoung and Manggeonsik. The research method is based on a literature review and presents four Korean necktie designs via Adobe Illustrations. As a result of analyzing the beauty of the traditional Korean men's ornamentation, it was categorized into rhythmical beauty, emphasis beauty, and natural beauty. Applying this to necktie design, Design 1 imagined the silhouette of a man wearing a Got and Durumagi. This applied emphasis beauty. Design 2 applied the shaking images of Got and Got-kkeun to apply rhythmical and emphasis beauty. Design 3 applied a man's upper body silhouette and the shape of wearing a Got. This was to apply natural beauty and emphasis beauty. Design 4 applied the shape of Got-kkeun and Gwanja to rhythmical beauty and natural beauty. The significance of this study is that the development of necktie designs using formative Korean elements can be a part of efforts to recognize the possibility of traditional Korean culture and to explore developmental directions under the current situation in which Western clothing is accepted without thought. It is a good idea to suggest the possibility of the modern use of Korean men's ornaments.

In order to reconstruct the traditional technology of Korean golden varnish coatings, this study was carried out to separate and determine some main coloring components of the exudates of D. morbifera and its traditionally refined golden varnishes using a process of solvent extractions, chromatographies and spectrometries. The results obtained are as follows: 1. The exudate and its traditional-refined golden varnishes appear to have a kind of natural polyacetylenes because it has some triple bond peaks in FT-IR spectrometry. 2. Some yellowing spots of the polar-solvent extrats from the exudates and refined varnishes separated on TLC appeared under natural drying condition, but those of non-polar solvent extract such as hexane did not. 3. A traditional refining method for reconstructing a Korea golden varnishes was thought to be better than solvent separation because the former had higher triple-bond peaks than the latter in FT-IR spectrometry. 4. One of main conponents in the hexane-extracts of the traditional-refined varnishes and the exudates had the same molcular weighr of 204, but the fragmentation patterns was a little different between the exudate and the refined. in LC-MS soectrometry.

This study aimed to present marketing communication strategy for lifestyle groups. Consumers' preference on advertisement media/information source, advertisement appeal types, and on-line media use were examined by lifestyle groups. This study was executed by web survey and off-line survey. A total of 141 data was obtained and data were analyzed by PASW 18.0. Results were as follows: First, 4 types of lifestyle groups were made up by holistic approach; 'price oriented', 'traditional symbolic', 'positive life', and 'open mind enjoyment'. 'Positive life type' preferred every type of ads media. 'Traditional symbolic type' liked magazine and 'price oriented type' and 'open mind enjoyment type' thought off-line store display more important. For ads appeal types, 'positive life type' preferred social oriented appeal type. Every group except 'price oriented type' preferred emotional appeal type and especially 'open mind enjoyment type' liked the most emotional ads appeal type.

The results of researching Jang's use of herb remedies through his book "Uihakchungjungchamseorok(醫學衷中參西錄)" are as follows. 1. Jang Seoksun's medicine is based on "Hwangjenaegyeong(黃帝內經)", "Sanghanron(傷寒論)", "Sinnongbonchogyeong(神農本草經)". And through constant study he brought to perfection his own unique medical theory. 2. He introduced Western medicine, and united it with traditional Chinese medicine. He perfected the Chinese-Western medical theory, by Chungjungchamseo(衷中參西) which means 'roots in traditional Chinese medicine, reference in Western medicine'. 3. He thought Onbyeong(溫病) was not an independent category of disease, but included it into the category of Sanghan(傷寒). So he used modified prescription of "Sanghanron(傷寒論)" to treat Onbyeong(溫病). 4. He expanded the category of remedy uses by using various compounds, such as minerals and animal compounds. He has also developed substitute remedies.

This study was examined about consciousness and actual service, functions of ancestral rite in modem society. In order to study, the questionnaires for 401 university students were used and personal interviews with 14 as 7 female,7 male. Data were analyzed using the SAS programs. The main results of this study were as follows: The male's consciousness and actual service was significant higher than female's about the traditional ancestral rite. The religion was affected significant variable in ancestral rite. When the family hold many performs and students are participate in ancestral rite many times, they are positive about traditional ancestral rite. On the functions of ancestral rite the students thought the ancestral rite influenced family members and relatives to promote mutual family membership.

Since the development of patterns using tessellation is applied to a wide range of fields such as clothing, architecture, environment, and products, etc. and its expression principle is also found in various fields such as mathematics and science, etc. However, this pattern is mostly used as a math material with little studies on fashion and culture. In addition, it is thought that Korean traditional culture products need more various and modern design development methods and pattern through preliminary investigation which is simple copy of traditional items, simple copy of Korean Alphabet, Chinese character, and folk paintings. Therefore, it will present the method to make more design cases using Tessellation. Tessellation that combines mathematics and art will be the infinite form of designing of designers as well as creative training way to understand the composition principles of old culture and to raise sense of modern design. Tessellation of regular triangle, regular square, and regular hexagon was performed on the patterns which have meaning of wealth and prosperity of Korean traditional patterns. As the concrete method, first, each side of the regular triangle is developed symmetrically with patterns of fish, turtle, and cicadas. Second, rotational movement after symmetry movement about middle point of one side ${\times}$ 1 symmetry movement about middle point ${\times}$ 1 using crane and cloud, of the regular triangle was performed. Third, the regular square was tessellated parallel movement ${\times}$ 2 with "Da(multi)" and dragon pattern as the source image. Fourth, the sitting tiger was tessellated with symmetry movement about middle point ${\times}$ 2 and parallel movement ${\times}$ 1. Fifth, three bat patterns are tessellated by again rotational movement of two sides after rotational movement of one side and rotational movement of the other side. In addition, It developed traditional culture product design of the scarf, umbrella, aprons, neckties.
