WEED DETECTION BY MACHINE VISION AND ARTIFICIAL NEURAL NETWORK

  • A machine vision system using charge coupled device(CCD) camera for the weed detection in a radish farm was developed. Shape features were analyzed with the binary images obtained from color images of radish and weeds. Aspect, Elongation and PTB were selected as significant variables for discriminant models using the STEPDISC option. The selected variables were used in the DISCRIM procedure to compute a discriminant function for classifying images into one of the two classes. Using discriminant analysis, the successful recognition rate was 92% for radish and 98% for weeds. To recognize radish and weeds more effectively than the discriminant analysis, an artificial neural network(ANN) was used. The developed ANN model distinguished the radish from the weeds with 100%. The performance of ANNs was improved to prevent overfitting and to generalize well using a regularization method. The successful recognition rate in the farms was 93.3% for radish and 93.8% for weeds. As a whole, the machine vision system using CCD camera with the artificial neural network was useful to detect weeds in the radish farms.

Effect of Microbial Fertilizers on Yield of Young Radish(Raphanus sativus L.)

  • This study was inducted to investigate the effects of microbial fertilizers on the fields of young radish(Raphanus sativus L.), chemical components of plant and soil, and the microbial floras. Six microbial fertilizers, MPK+Husk+Palma, Husk+Palma, MPK+Compost, Compost, BIO Livestock Clean System(BLCS) cattle dropping, and Tomi were used. The yields of young radish were increased in six microbial fertilizer treatments. The fresh matter weight, the number of leaves, and the dry matter weight of young radish in BLCS cattle dropping treatment, the leaf length in MPK+Husk+Palma treatment, the sugar content in Husk+Palma treatment, arid the leaf width in Tomi treatment showed the highest amount, respectively. The effects of microbial fertilizers on chemical characteristics of young radish and soil were examined. Phosphoric acid amount of young radish in Tomi treatment was much higher than other treatments. Potassium amount of young radish showed high significance in all microbial fertilizer treatments compared with control, and shoved the highest in Compost treatment . Two components, phosphoric acid find potassium, in soil inoculated by microbial fertilizers showed significant. Phosphoric acid in the Tomi treatment and Potassium in Husk+Palma treatment were increased. The microorganic populations in soil inoculated with microbial fertilizers were examined. While the number of Bacillus in ceil was increased in MPK+Husk+Palma treatment, the numbers of total bacteria, actinomycetes, and fungi were increased in Tomi treatment.

  • This experiment was carried out to investigate the effect of slow-release fertilizers on yield of radigh. Fertilizers were treated with CDU, MEISTER, Jobi Gohyungbok-hapbiryo, Kyungki Wonyebokbi 1ho, Kyungkibokbi Nojeok, Kyungki Jeonjakgo-hyungbokbi, Tradidtional manuring, and No maunring. Yields of radish were increased with slow-release fertilizers, CDU and MEISTER were effective to radish shoot, also. But analysis of chemical components of plants and soil were no difference. It was very effect to increase yields of radish, to reduce in number of supplementary manuring and laboring.

국내산 무의 유통 및 포장상자의 경제성 (A Study on Distribution Status and Economic Analysis of Packed Radish in Domestic Markets)

  • 국내 무의 유통 및 포장실태를 조사하고자 1999년 11월부터 2000년 4월까지 생산지별로 전북, 강원지역의 무에 대해 산지, 소비지를 대상으로 출하처, 출하방법을 조사하였고 품위의 경우는 태백, 경기와 청양 지역을 중심으로 개당 무게, 길이, 폭, 높이 및 부피를 조사하였으며 소매단계 포장단위, 포장재를 소비지역의 대형 소비처를 중심으로 조사하였다. 유통 및 거래관행은 산지에 따라서 재배기간 및 출하방법이 달랐다. 출하처나 출하방법도 전북과 강원 지역간에 차이가 심한 것으로 나타났다. 지역별로 품위를 조사한 결과. 태백산 무에서 부피 편차가 다른 지역에 비해 큰 것으로 나타났다. 산지 포장화 실태는 포장농가에서는 강원지역 고랭지 무를 중심으로 이뤄지고 있고 직거래(백화점 등 유통업체 또는 농협 물류센터의 계통출하)시 8kg 골판지 박스나 PE대($3{\sim}4$포기용)를 Wooden-Collar에 적재하고 있으며 생산자 단체를 중심으로 포장화가 시도되고 있다. 경제성 분석결과 산물 출하가 포장 출하에 비해 더 경제적이었다. 포장화율을 높이기 위해서는 박스구입비, 상하차비 등을 지원하는 방안이 적극 검토되어야 한다고 사료되었다.

Growth and Mineral Contents of Spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.) and Radish (Raphanus sativus L.) as Related with a Low Dose Gamma Irradiation

  • This study was to evaluate the effects of gamma irradiation on the germination, nutrient concentrations and growth of spinach and radish. Both the spinach and radish seeds exhibited relatively higher germination rates in response to the low doses of gamma irradiation compared to the non -irradiated control. Leaf DW of the radish did not respond to gamma irradiation but that of the spinach increased significantly in response to a gamma radiation of 4 Gy (P< 0.05). Leaf growth parameters of the spinach including the leaf area and SLA (leaf area/leaf dry weight) also demonstrated increased responses to gamma irradiation. R/S (root dry weight/shoot dry weight), root DW and root length of the spinach exhibited a positive response to gamma irradiation while those of the radish did not. In contrast, SRL (root length/root dry weight) significantly decreased with gamma irradiation at 8 Gy for the spinach, but not for the radish. The tissue nitrogen concentrations of the spinach showed an increased response to gamma irradiation while that of the radish did not. Furthermore, higher concentrations of phosphorus, potassium, calcium and magnesium were found in the irradiated spinach, but not in the irradiated radish. It seems that the non-specific physiological and/or biochemical activities of spinach might be accelerated by gamma irradiation, possibly accounting for the stimulation of nutrient uptake from the root media and early biomass accumulation in the current study.

무청즙액을 이용한 녹엽단백질과 효모균체의 생산 (Production of Plant Protein Concentrate and Yeast Biomass from Radish Greens)

  • 무청즙액을 식물녹엽단백질의 생산과 효모의 균체생산을 위한 두가지 목적으로 이용하는 연구를 하였다. 무청즙액을 80-10$0^{\circ}C$로 가열하거나 pH를 조정하여 침전시켰을 때 침전물의 양은 모두 무청즙액 1리터당 10.0-16.5g(평균 13.5g)이었고 이 침전물의 조단백질 함량은 25-30%이었다. 단백질을 침전시켜 제거한 여액은 전당의 함량이 1.0%정도 되게 희석하여 효모 Candida utilis를 배양하였을 때 무청 여액원액 1리터당 최고 19.59의 효모균체를 생산할 수 있었다. 따라서 무청즙액 1리터로부터 생산할 수 있는 고단백질자원은 33g이었다.

유산균의 혼합배양에 의한 무주스의 저장중 품질변화 (Quality Changes of Radish Juice by Mixed Culture with Lactic Acid Bacteria during Storage)

  • 동치미에서 분리한 유산균 Leuconostoc mesenteroides와 Lactobacillus brevis를 무주스에 접종하여 $25^{\circ}C$에서 2일간 혼합 배양하여 $65^{\circ}C$와 8$0^{\circ}C$에서 각각 30분, 15분으로 열처리하여 25, 15, 5$^{\circ}C$에서 8주동안 저장하면서 품질변화를 조사하였다. 열처리한 무주스에서는 미생물이 전혀 검출되지 않아 모두 사멸되었음을 알수 있었으며 이화학적 품질의 변화가 거의 일어나지 않았으나, 열처리를 하지 않은 무주스의 경우는 저장온도가 높을수록 저장기간이 길어질수록 pH는 빠르게 감소하고 산소는 빠르게 증가하였다. 그러나 탁도는 열처리하지 않은 경우 5$^{\circ}C$에서는 발효가 지연되어 열처리한 무주스보다 탁도가 낮게 나타났다. 관능검사 결과를 보면 8$0^{\circ}C$에서 15분 처리한 무주스는 신선한 동치미향이 감소하고 익은맛이 증가하므로 가열살균조건으로는 적합하지 않은 것으로 나타났으며, 열처리하지 않고 5$^{\circ}C$에서 저장한 무주스가 가장 좋게 평가되었다. 열처리하지 않은 무주스는 5$^{\circ}C$에서 8주 이상 저장이 가능할 것으로 보여진다.

무, 양파의 시료제조 방법에 따른 흰쥐의 지방대사와 항산화능에 관한 연구 (Effect of Dry Powders, Ethanol Extracts and Juices of Radish and Onion on Lipid Metabolism and Antioxidative Capacity in Rats)

  • This study was performed to investigate the effects of dry powders, ethanol extracts and juices of radish and onion on lipid metabolism, lipid peroxidation and antioxidative enzyme activity in rats. Forty-nine male Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 157$\pm$6g were blocked into seven groups according to body weight and raised for four weeks with diets containing 5%(w/w) dry powders of two different vegetables consumed frequently by Korean-radish(Raphanus sativus L.) and onion(Allium cepa L.), ethanol extracts and juices from equal amount of each dry powder. All the powders, ethanol extracts and juices of radish and onion decreased total lipids, triglycerides and total cholesterol concentrations in plasma and liver. Above all, onion ethanol extract decreased them most remarkably. It was thought that organosulfur compounds and flavonoids extracted from onion by ethanol inhibited biosynthesis and absorption of lipid and promoted degradation of lipid. Radish powder also decreased them by increasing fecal excretions of total lipids, triglycerides and total cholesterol most effectively. Catalase and glutathine peroxidase(GSH-px) activities in red blood cell(RBC) were most remarkably increased by radish powder and onion powder respectively. Superoxide dismutase(SOD), catalase and GSH-px activities in liver were most remarkably increased by onion ethanol extract, radish powder and onion ethanol extract respectively. Xanthine oxidase(XOD) activities in liver were most effectively decreased by ethanol extracts of radish and onion. Thiobarbituric acid reactive substance (TBARS) levels in plasma and liver of experimental groups were significantly lower than those of controls. Above all, onion powder decreased them most effectively. It was thought that vitamin E and high flavonoids in onion powder inhibited lipid peroxidation, promoting liver and RBC SOD, catalase and GSH-px activities and inhibiting XOD activities effectively. Flavonoids in onion ethanol extract inhibited lipid peroxidation, promoting three antioxident enzyme activities and inhibiting XOD activities most remarkably. Also flavonoids and high vitamin C in radish powder inhibited lipid peroxidation, promoting liver and RBC catalase most remarkably and inhibiting XOD activities. In conclusion, radish and onion were effective in lowering lipid levels and inhibiting of lipid peroxidation in animal tissue. From these data, radish and onion can be recommended in the treatment and prevention of diseases such as cardiovascular disease and cancer and in delaying aging. As ethanol from onion were most effective in lowering lipid level and promoting three antioxident enzymes, and inhibited lipid peroxidation as did we should try to utilize onion skin which is discarded though reported to have abundant flavonoids. MA저장중 몇가지 싹기름 채소의 저장성 비교 (Comparison of Storability of Some Sprout Vegetables in MA Storage)

  • 저장중 5가지 싹채소, (무, 적무, 적양배추, 알팔파, 브로콜리)의 생체중은 $50{\mu}m$ LDPE필름으로 밀폐하여 $2^{\circ}C$$8^{\circ}C$모두 99%이상 유지되었다. 저장중 포장재내 이산화탄소 농도는 $8^{\circ}C$에서 $2^{\circ}C$에서 보다 높았으며 작물별로 무와 적무가 높았다. 산소농도는 이와 정반대로 $2^{\circ}C$에서 높게 유지되었고, 무와 적무가 가장 낮은 농도를 보였는데 특히 $8^{\circ}C$저장 3일째는 3%미만까지 낮아지기도 하였다. 에틸렌 농도도 $2^{\circ}C$에 비해 $8^{\circ}C$에서 다소 높았으며 작물별로는 알팔파가 0.1ppm으로 가장 낮았고 나머지 4 작물은 작물간 농도차이에 유의성 없이 1ppm미만으로 낮았다. 이취는 산소농도가 가장 낮았던 무와 적무에서 오히려 낮은 수준을 보였으며 온도별로 큰 차이가 없었다. 외관상 품질은 역시 $2^{\circ}C$$8^{\circ}C$보다 높게 유지되었으며, 두 온도 모두에서 무가 가장 높게 유지되었고, 다음으로 적무, 브로콜리, 적양배추, 알팔파 순서였다. 이상의 결과에서 싹채소의 작물간 저장성에 차이를 알 수 있었는데 무와 알팔파의 경우 $4{\sim}5$일의 저장기한의 차이를 보였다. 따라서 싹채소 유통에 있어 작물별 관리가 다르게 실시되어야 할 것이라 생각된다.

문헌에 나타난 열무김치 및 열무물김치 제조 방법의 표준화 (Standardization of Manufacturing Method of Young Radish Kimchi (Yulmoo Kimchi) and Young Radish Watery Kimchi (Yulmoo Mool-Kimchi) in Literatures)

  • 조리서 및 문헌을 통해 열무김치 및 열무물김치의 재료배합비 및 제조방법을 표준화하였다. 열무김치의 표준화과정에서 열무 이외에 사용빈도수가 50%이상인 부재료는 파와 홍고추였으며, 양념류로는 고춧가루, 마늘, 생강, 젓갈이 이에 속했다. 또한 재료 및 양념의 배합비는 절인 열무 100g에 대해 파 8.0$\pm$3.8, 마늘 2.5$\pm$1.3, 생강 1.6$\pm$0.7, 홍고추 7.0$\pm$1.7, 고춧가루 4.2$\pm$1.2, 젓갈 3.7$\pm$0.5로 나타났다. 열무물김치의 표준화과정의 경우, 사용빈도수가 50%이상인 부재료로는 풋고추, 홍고추, 파가, 양념류로는 마늘, 생강, 전분이 이에 속했으며, 열무물김치의 재료배합비의 표준화는 첨가된 물의 양을 기준으로 하였다. 즉, 물 100 mL에 대해 절인 열무 50.6$\pm$10.8, 파 3.3$\pm$1.3, 풋고추 3.3$\pm$1.9, 홍고추 2.4$\pm$1.3, 마늘 3.0$\pm$0.7, 생강 $1.5\pm$0, 전분 $1.5\pm$0.6의 비율로 나타났다.
