Objectives : This study is designed to investigate the effects of Korean medical therapy on 2 Alopecia areata. Methods : This is a case report on 2 patients who has been suffering from alopecia areata. To reduce their symptoms, we provided with internal herbal medicine 2 times a day, acupuncture therapy and Hwangryunhaedok-tang herbal-acupuncture therapy for three or four months. Results : After series of treatments, the symptoms of Alopecia areata were remarkably improved. Conclusions : This study shows us that Korean medical treatment effects on Alopecia areata.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report 1 clinical experience of korean medicine treatment on chronic urticaria identified as "Wind Heat" pattern. Methods : We treated a 63-year old woman patient with Gagamtongcheong-san, acupuncture and pharmacopuncture. The improvement of patients evaluated using CU-Q2oL, UAS, and photography. Results : CU-Q2oL score decreased from 95 to 18, UAS decreased from 6 to 0. Conclusions : The complex treatments of korean medicine and was effective to improve of chronic urticaria. It is necessary to have more observations and case reports.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report the effect of Korean medicine on olfactory disorders due to chronic sinusitis. Methods : Two patients with chronic sinusitis complaining of olfactory disturbances, nasal obstruction, and purulent discharge were treated with herbal medicines and acupuncture treatment. The nasal endoscopic examination and paranasal sinuses x-ray series (PNS x-ray) were performed. In addition, numeral rating scale (NRS) of olfactory disturbances and degrees of nasal obstruction and purulent discharge were evaluated. Results : In cases 1 and 2, NRS of olfactory disturbances decreased from 9 to 1. Nasal obstruction and purulent discharge decreased to no symptoms or intermittent level at moderate or severe level. The endoscopic findings and PNS x-ray findings were improved after treatments. Among various treatments of Korean medicine, Gamitonggyu-tang may play a crucial role in the reduction of sinusitis and olfactory disorders. Conclusions : This case report can be used as a basis for the use of Korean medicine, Gamitonggyu-tang, for olfactory disorder due to chronic sinusitis.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to report a case of Korean medicine on acute radiation dermatitis. Methods : This study was conducted with an acute radiation dermatitis patient who hospitalized in ophthalmology, otolaryngology & dermatology clinic of Korean medical hospital. The patient was treated with Korean medicine including acupuncture, wet dressing, herbal ointment and phototherapy. We evaluated the patient's subject symptoms before and after treatment using the VAS scale and CTCAE. Results : The patient's subjective symptoms were improved after treatment. Conclusions : It is considered that Korean medicine could be applied to the treatment of acute radiation dermatitis.

Objectives : The aim of this study is to analyze research of Korean medicine for the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis. Methods : We searched domestic journals with the title 'seborrheic, dermatitis, 脂漏, 面遊風, 白屑風, 紐扣風'. We searched The Journal of Korean Medicine Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology and Dermatology, NDSL, RISS, KISS, The National Assembly Library and OASIS. Results : We selected 15 papers; 11 clinical trials, 4 systematic reviews. In clinical trial all studies showed positive effect, but less example used in the studies. Conclusions : Positive effect of Korean Medicine on seborrheic dermatitis is expected. But we find several limits in many papers, so we conclude that well-designed researches are needed.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to find an effective clerkship process for the implementation of participatory clinical practice that is practically applicable to most Colleges of Korean Medicine. Methods : Taking the 4th-grade students of the College of Korean Medicine, Kyung Hee University in 2019 as a subject, we conducted Role-playing and simulated CPX in the department of Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology and Dermatology and conducted a satisfaction survey through a questionnaire. Results : 1. The preliminary expectations for overall practice and Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology and Dermatology practice did not differ significantly. 2. The satisfaction, data adequacy, feedback adequacy, and usefulness of Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology and Dermatology course were 79.4%, 80.8%, 87.6%, and 86.5%, respectively. 3. When comparing the Role-playing of Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology with mock CPX of Dermatology, data relevance level was similar, feedback adequacy level was higher in mock CPX, satisfaction and usefulness level were higher in Role-playing. Conclusion : Comparing Role-playing with the simulated CPX method, Role-playing is a relatively realistic form than the CPX method, and moreover students showed higher satisfaction and usefulness in Role-playing.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to describe the characteristics of medical malpractice related to pediatric ophthalmology and to identify the causes and potential preventability of medical litigation in Korean medicine. Methods : A study was performed by analysing 8 cases of lawsuit in the year between 1968 and 2011, which were selected among the medical dispute cases involving pediatric ophthalmology. Results : The eight closed claims occurring in the field of pediatric ophthalmology were founded in the data for medical malpractice. One claim was supreme court decision, two claims were high court decisions and five claims were district court decisions. Conclusions : While malpractice claims occurring in the field of pediatric ophthalmology were uncommon, they resulted in a high rate and amount of indemnity payments. For reduction of medical disputes, improvement of clinical trials and clinical medical cares is emphasized, and informed consent is also important.
