  • The elementary idea of 'function-words' in Classical Chinese originates from Han dynasty. But because of the pictographic nature the methodology for 'content words' had been applied to the study on 'function words', ane the conditions had not changed until modern times. In grammar functions of the function-word syntactical, morphological in unit sentence were studied in this using the method of quantitative analysis for all the function-words appeared in ${\ll}$Hwang je nae gyung-Somun${\gg}$. In the previous studies about function word, many data were collected and analyzed diachronically. But those studies failed to examine function-words closed in connection with synchronic study. Besides, in the explain about relevant function-words also, the case which was made centering around exegetic explain was most. And in the case to explain the function-words have in unit sentence also, the explain only about some function-words is made, but the analysis about concrete function to have in syntactical system is being handled negligently. This study stands not only on the background df the traditional studies but also on the basis of the western grammar and linguistics, especially the descriptive grammar and linguistics, especially the descriptive grammar. ${\ll}$Hwang je nae gyung-Somun${\gg}$ is collect and recorded the mythology and special contents related to Daoism in the side of contents as what was written on the basis of the historical consciousness of individual in contents regardless of compilation system. The purpose of this study is to clarify how the role and function of fuction-words are being made in the composition of unit sentence which appeard in ${\ll}$Hwang je nae gyung-Somun${\gg}$ through synchronic grammar system.

  • Recently, most Korean syntactic analysis systems use Dependency Grammar, because it is quite good to analysis of Korean language structures. But Dependency Grammar makes many ambiguities during syntax analysis of Korean. We implement a system which decreases many ambiguities in syntax analysis. To decrease ambiguities we suggest several methods. First, we use about 200 dependency rules, second, we suggest a new segmentation method and third, one predicate can not have more than one subject or object. Using these methods, we can reduce many ambiguities in Korean syntactic analysis.

  • In this paper, we present an improved grammatical structure of the finite state network(FSN) for constructing useful recognizer of practical Korean price sentences. The grammar constraints of Korean price sentences in the existing method are necessary to modify grammar constraint and grammatical structure for the recognition of practical Korean price sentences. The grammar constraints are improved in the third and the fourth grammar constraint of Korean price sentences for the practical point. In this paper, we improve the grammar constraints and make up for the weak point in the grammatical structure of the FSN[1]. Three kinds of experiments were performed to evaluate the improved grammatical structures; FSN0, FSN-1, FSN-2. As the recognition results for price sentences, the word recognition rates were 81.37%, 83.92%, and 85.49%, for FSN0, FSN-1, and FSN-2. Also, the sentence recognition rates were 35%, 45%, and 52%, respectively.

  • We propose a format of a binary phrase structure grammar with composite labels. The grammar adopts binary rules so that the dependency between two sub-trees can be represented in the label of the tree. The label of a tree is composed of two attributes, each of which is extracted from each sub-tree so that it can represent the compositional information of the tree. The composite label is generated from part-of-speech tags using an automatic labeling algorithm. Since the proposed rule description scheme is binary and uses only part-of-speech information, it can readily be used in dependency grammar and be applied to other languages as well. In the best-1 context-free cross validation on 31,080 tree-tagged corpus, the labeled precision is 79.30%, which outperforms phrase structure grammar and dependency grammar by 5% and by 4%, respectively. It shows that the proposed rule description scheme is effective for parsing Korean.

  • This paper presents the Lexical Ambiguity Resolution System of Korean Language. This system uses Dependency grammar and Collative Semantics. Dependency grammar is used to analyze Korean syntactic dependency. A robust way to analyze a sentence is to establish links between individual words. Collative Semantics investigates the interplay between lexical ambiguity and semantics relations. Collative Semantics consists of sense-frame, semantic vector, collation, and screening. Our system was implemented by C programming language. This system analyzes sentences, discriminates the kinds of semantic relation between pairs of words senses in those sentences, and resolves lexical ambiguity.

  • In accordance with his belief that philosophical problems arise from misunderstandings of the logic of our language, Wittgenstein's philosophical investigations were always focused on the problems of logic of language. Indeed, it can be said that his investigations were logical investigations. But what was the logic as conceived by him? He regarded logic as grammar from the beginning, but between his two different philosophical periods, there were important changes in his conceptions of grammar. In his earlier period, he understood the logic of language as the truth-functional syntax realizable in an ideal notation, while in his later period he regarded logic as the rules of language-use in various language games. It was a change from viewing logic as an ideally strict and universal system in which every logical possibilities are determined to viewing logic as an open system of non-strict grammatical rules specific to each language game. This paper deals with the gists of his earlier and later views on logic and the reasons for the change of his views, including specifically the reasons for the change of his views concerning the autonomy and necessity of logic as grammar.

  • This paper presents an automated English scoring system designed to help non-native speakers of English, Korean-speaking learners in particular. The system is developed to help the 3rd grade students in junior high school improve their English grammar skills. Without human's efforts, the system identifies grammar errors in English sentences, provides feedback on the detected errors, and scores the sentences. Detecting grammar errors in the system requires implementing a special type of rules in addition to the rules to parse grammatical sentences. Error production rules are implemented to analyze ungrammatical sentences and recognize syntactic errors. The rules are collected from the junior high school textbooks and real student test data. By firing those rules, the errors are detected followed by setting corresponding error flags, and the system continues the parsing process without a failure. As the final step of the process, the system scores the student sentences based on the errors detected. The system is evaluated with real English test data produced by the students and the answers provided by human teachers.

  • This paper presents a method which can recognized the Handwritten Korean characters by using a Context-Free Grammar. The input characters are thinned in order to dwindle the mount of data, the thinned characters are converted into one-dimension strings according to six-forms. when the point of contact among phonemes is found, two phonemes are seperated respectively by marking the index mark (\) at the points. The Context-Free Grammar to input characters is classified into group grammars concerning the similarity of phonemes, input characters are parsed by making use of the Pushdown automata method. As the bent parts in the Handwritten characters are found frequently, We try to correct the bent parts by using the parsing distance measure, which recognize characters according to minium value caused by measuring the weight distance between two sentences. In this experiment, the recognition rate shows 93.8% to 275 Handwritten Korean characters.

  • A single state parsing automaton has the characteristics of the decision of actions which do not depend on the history of the parsing paths but on the current state. The single state parsing automaton hence has the advantage of the reduced parsing time and a small memory requirement compared to those of the conventional LR automaton. However, currently, the grammar classes generating single state parsing automata have not been known. This paper deals with the grammar classes generating single state parsing automata; in addition, this paper gives the generating method of single state parsing automata of the grammar classes.

  • The near future smart ubiquitous computing oriented system will have to provide the optimal (right) service through interactions between users and the system. To provide the right services what the user needs, we should choose the user-centered development for reflecting the user needs, but not the developer-centered development. To do this, we proposed User Behavior Analysis Based Needs Extraction Method [1]. In this paper, we propose Object Extraction and Modeling Method from the user requirements with Fillmore's Case Grammar.
