The main purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of Korea-China free trade agreement(FTA) on Korea's fisheries trade using the partial equilibrium analysis model of Feenstra(1995). The study tries to show the impact on trade flows and welfare of the elimination of tariffs Korea-China FTA on Korea's fisheries sector among several scenarios of trade liberalization. The results of the study indicate that the increase of fisheries export to China is lower than that of fisheries import from China. Therefore Korea-China FTA results in the decrease of domestic of fisheries production even though total welfare effect is positive. The study suggest several policy proposals for soft-landing of Korea-China FTA on Korea's fisheries sector. One of them is to lengthen the term of tariff elimination to minimize the impact on domestic fisheries sectors.

Recently, many more fisheries and shipping high school students have entered college than those of the past. But, this trend could be attributed to the easy and various forms of selection for college admission. Thus the examinations of the college scholastic ability 2005 have added to the vocational search ability including verbal ability, mathematic ability, foreign language ability and inquiry ability. The vocational search ability in fisheries and shipping field is concluded the general fisheries science, general maritime science, general marine science and fisheries and shipping information management. This study analyzed the questions of the fisheries and shipping subject of vocational search field with high school 2nd students on October 2003. In result, this study identified some needed basic scholastic ability for fisheries and shipping high school students.

One of most important wort to build Fisheries Policy Information Systems(FPIS) is related to connect the data warehouse between fisheries departments, This paper presents the developing strategies to build the FPIS. First, developing the FPIS needs to compensate the laws and regulations with assistance of fisheries departments. Second, FPIS developer needs to cooperate the related fisheries departments deeply, Third, developing the data warehouse will be contribute to improve criterion and statistics of fisheries data. Forth, For experts of systems use the FPIS, they are needed to educate for appling the systems in the fisheries environments.

This study was aimed at analyzing the research trends and presenting the future research in fisheries and marine sciences education. This study analyzed 127 papers related with fisheries and marine sciences education among total 970 papers from 1988(Vol. 1(1)) to 2015(Vol. 27(3)) in 'The Journal of Fisheries and Marine Sciences Education'. The results were as follows. Firstly, researches related with fisheries and marine sciences education have been actively studied from 2013 to the resent. Secondly, career vocation education and subject matter education were the most in the contents on fisheries and marine sciences education. Thirdly, literature reviews and content analysis were used the most in the research method on fisheries and marine sciences education. Lastly, most researchers(82.68%) belonged to university, and from around 2008, multiple-author research began to increase quite a bit in comparison with single-author research.

The aims of this study are to analysis the elements associated with a occupational basic competencies of fisheries and maritime high school students. Fisheries & maritime key competencies were defined as the abilities that include the essential knowledge, skills, attitude, and experiences required for the workforce on the fisheries and maritime job condition. This research collected preliminary data from 177 fisheries & maritime high school teachers. Data were analyzed to obtain item quality, reliability and validity analysis. The results of the study were as follows; First, largely, fisheris & maritime key competencies were divided into two parts; basic vocational skills and fisheries-maritime job skills. Second, fisheries & maritime key competencies were consisted of communicative competence, numeracy skills, thinking skills, English communication skills, self-management skills, interpersonal competency, selection & application of alternative, marine technology & information skills, marine consciousness and maritime professional ethics. Third, each key competency consisted of 2-9 sub-competencies.

The study is an analysis of the responses to a questionare by members of various fishing communities in Korea regarding their opinion about the vocational value of the fishing industry and factors which are acting as obstacles to entrance into the Fisheries High Schools, etc. Subjects were 2,000 : fishermen, members of the fishermen's cooperative society, and teachers and students of the Fisheries High Schools. Results indicated as follows: (a) It would be desirable to have fisheries courses incorperated in middle schools on islands and in fishing villages to improve enthusiasm of middle school students for entrance into Fisheries High Schools. (b) It is desirable that the principal or the administrator of middle schools in fishing villages and on islands should be a person who has majored in fisheries field, and so would support fisheries courses in the middle schools. (c) The level of peoples' appreciation of the fishing industry should be enhanced.

In this paper, we have reported the expression of immune-related gene in a new embryonic cell line (FGBC8) which was established from olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) embryos. To explore the cell biotechnological applicability, the FGBC8 cells were incubated with the several mitogens such as lipopolysaccharide (LPS), polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid (poly I:C), flagellin, and interferon (IFN)-γ. After incubation, the expression of immune-related gene was observed in FGBC8 cells through the quantitative real-time PCR. Our results indicate that FGBC8 cells will serve as a valuable research tool for investigating host-pathogen interactions as well as cell biotechnological applications.

Two penaeid shrimps, Melicertus latisulcatus (Kishinouye, 1896) and Metapenaeopsis mogiensis mogiensis (Rathbun, 1902), collected from Jeju Island are described and illustrated with color photographs. Melicertus latisulcatus is previously known but without detailed description in Korean waters and M. mogiensis mogiensis is recorded for the first time. Distributional and morphological accounts of these two species are briefly discussed.

The official talks on the amendment of the Korean - Japanese Fisheries Agreement which was concluded in 1965 are under way since 1996. The convention area of the existing fisheries agreement is the high sea, but it should be changed to the exclusive economic zone(EEZ) for the newly amended fisheries agreement. Accordingly, the fundamental policies to be embodied within the amended fisheries agreement are summarized as follows : 1. One of the basic doctrine of the new agreement should be the formulation of a device of international cooperation for the fishery development as well as the conservation and management of the fishery resources. 2. The preparation of the future-oriented international relationship which reflects the specific character of the fishery relationship between both countries. 3. The existing fishery results of both parties should be protected on the ground of the reciprocity principle. 4. Both parties should reach an agreement upon the joint conservation and management measures for the transboundary fishery resources. 5. In consideration of the difficulty of EEZ delimitation between both countries, a provisional fisheries agreement can be an alternative measure.

Three barracudina fishes (Paralepididae) were newly recorded from the southern sea of Korea. Lestidium prolixum is characterized by a single band of luminous ducts on the midventral line and absence of a papilla anterior to the eye. Lestrolepis intermedia and L. japonica are similar in having a black papilla immediately in front of the eye and two bands of luminous ducts on the midventral line. However, the dorsal fin of L. intermedia is located more posterior along the body than that of L. japonica, and L. intermedia have larger number of anal fin rays 42 (vs. 36-40) and vertebrae 95 (vs. 86-87) than L. japonica.
