  • Cleaner production is of substantial importance in changing the environmental approach within advanced industrialized countries. The critical principles involve fundamental understanding of diverse industrial processes, adherence to the earliest techniques of a hierarchy for reducing wastes, and utilization of an underlying thought process to achieve pollution prevention successes that are both technically feasible and cost-effective. Chemical engineering has played a major and unique role in this environmental field. Improving the sustainability of cleaner production will rest on including this subject in the curriculum of university engineering.

  • Researchers who is intereted in Environmental Education have been concentrated on the Environmental subject since it was involved in school curriculum. But the selection percentage of Environmental subject is so low. So. I think Environmental Education researchers should be interested in Environmental Clubs in school because most students can easily take Environmental Education through Environmental Clubs than Environmental subject. The Environmental NGO, H, is interested in Environmental Clubs in school. The NGO held the camp that is called “Teenagers Environmental Club Festival” to encourage the environmental Clubs. I got some significances from the camp. First, Not only the camp but also post-education is required with on/off lines. Second, When the Environmental NGO makes a plan which supports Environmental Clubs in school, you should consider the school level. Third, activities' contents should be composed according to the level of students. Fourth, Students must involved in camp management team. Fifth, Management team which is composed of the NGO's planners, Environmental Education researchers, Environmental Club teachers and students is required.

The results of this study can be summarized as follows; There were differences in the size, the total number of pages and the quality of print between two groups of 'Environment'textbooks of the 6th and the 7th national curriculum. New textbooks were found bigger than the previous ones by 125%. The total number of pages increased by the average of 16.4%. A and C textbooks were composed of three parts, seven chapters, and 17 sections, whereas B textbook consisted of ten chapters and 23 sections. All of the three textbooks appeared to put an emphasis on the chapters of 'environment protection'and 'environmental problems of the Earth ' A comparative analysis on the number of data included in the three textbooks showed that almost half of data took a form of picture, averaging 48% of the total. A had 297 pictures, and 234 pictures for B, 194 pictures for C, respectively. In terms of the number of students'activities, C was found to include the largest number of activities that is 91, comparing to text A of 85, text B of 78. The number of students'activities in every content is found'environment awaiting protection', tile 'environmental problems of the earth'and'things to be done for the protection of environment'much more than any other parts. It should be noted that this study focused ell only a set of quantitative measures so that teachers are recommended to consider detailed contents that each textbook contains as well as environmental conditions of the school region.

  • This research is based on the concept that environmentally sustainable school design itself can raise the awareness of environmental issues related with sustainability for the students in early school days. Firstly, 7th educational curriculum is analyzed in terms of environmental education and the possibility for the spatial translation is reviewed. Secondly, potential items appropriate for physical facilities are extracted. Lastly design guidelines, which covers four different categories such as school yard, energy, water and waste are provided not only for the environmental education but also for the energy efficiency and resource conservation of the facility itself.

  • Scientific literacy for all became a new goal and introducing STS issues into science curriculum shows new trends in science education. The educational importance of natural environment of a region is increasing because it can serve as a vehicle to meet the new goal and trends of science education. The opportunity to learn about Korean natural environment in schools was investigated. The characteristics and unique patterns of Korean natural environment are not well reflected in the intended curriculum. School teachers mostly believe that education of Korean natural environment will greatly contribute to the students' learning of the subject matter they teach and environmental problems. However, they have limited opportunity to teach Korean natural environment. Various elective courses dealing with our natural environment should be provided in schools, especially for non-science majors. Out-of-school activities and facilities for Korean natural environment should be made available.
