The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of clothing behavior with such psychological variables as self-esteem and impulsiveness, to disclose the relationship between children's clothing behavior and their mother's child-rearing attitueds, to investigate the levels of clothing behavior according to children's sex and their mothers having job. Questionaires for clothing behavior and child-rearing attitudes were chosen from ones which were used in privious studies, and the items were selected on the Cronbach's Alpha Reliability Coefficient. For mearsurement of impulsiveness, a portion of "personality Inventory" by Beommo Chung was used, while Robinson and Shaver's self-esteem scale was adopted for mearsutement of self-esteem. Clothing behavior was composed of 6 variables: clothing interest, clothing satisfation, clothing management, clothing sex-role, clothing comfort, and clothing independence. Samples were 380 boys and girls (4th, 5th, 6th grade) of three elementary schools in Seoul, Korea. The data were analyzed by correlation coefficient, t-test, F-test, and multiple regression analysis. The results were as follows : 1. Self-esteem had positive relations with clothing satisfaction, clothing management, and clothing sex-role. Girls who had higher self-esteem were less interested in traditional sex-role attitudes in clothing. Boys who had higher self-esteem were higher in clothing independence. 2. Those who had higher impulsiveness were higher in clothing interest, but lowere in clothing satisfaction, clothing management, and clothing independence. 3. Loving and receptive child-rearing attitude had positive relations with clothing satisfaction and clothing management, but a negative relation with clothing sex-role. When mothers had higher loving and receptive child-rearing attitude, their sons had higher traditional attitude in clothing sex-role. Democratic and self-regulating child-rearing attitude had no relation with clothing behavior. 4. To lpredict clothing satisfaction, 4 independent variables (selfesteem, impulsiveness, mother's loving and receptive child-rearing attitude, and mother's democratic and self-regulating child-rearing attitude) were selected. The explanatory power of the four variables was 15%. Clothing satisfaction was most influenced by self-esteem, and not significantly influenced by mother's child-rearing attitudes. 5. Clothing interest and clothing management were higher with the girls than with the boys, while clothing comfort was higher with the bodys. 6. When children's mothers had a job, the children tended to have higher liberal attitudes in clothing sex-role.
The purpose of this study was to classified the dimension of clothing involvement and the clothing loyalty of 256 male and 271 female college students in Taegu area. data was analyzed by frequency percentage mean factor analysis reliability test validity test correlation and ANOVA by using SPSS/pc. The results of this study were as follows; 1. the dimension of clothing involvement was classified into four factors such as clothing interest dimension clothing symbolism dimension clothing economics dimension and clothing individuality dimension. 2. In the relationship between brand loyalty and four factors of clothing involvement there was positive appearance involvement there was positive appearance in clothing interest clothing symbolism and clothing individuality with brand loyalty but negative appearance in clothing economics. The correlation between clothing interest dimension and clothing symbolism dimension clothing interest dimension and clothing individuality dimension clothing symbolism dimension and clothing economics dimension clothing symbolism dimension and clothing individuality dimension was positive. And there was no relation between clothing economics dimension and clothing individuality dimension clothing economics dimension and clothing interest dimension. 3. According to individual character females than males the group aged 18 to 20 and 24 to 27 than the group aged 21 to 23 showed more active tendency to the clothing involvement dimension and also highertendency to brand loyalty. The students with a major in humanities science than the students with a major in natural science and more expending consumers on clothes showed more active tendency to the clothing symbolism dimension and higher tendency to brand loyalty. 4. On the whole the attitude of consumers on clothes was very high in the clothing interest dimension common in the clothing individuality dimension and very low in the clothing economics dimension.
The purpose of this study was to explore and compare the perception of Korean and Taiwanese young women's clothing deprivation and clothing decision factors. The study used a convenience sample consisting of 238 female college students: 101 Korean with a mean age of 20.78 and 137 Taiwanese with a mean age of 21.03. Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) Version 14.0 for windows was used for the data analysis. The clothing decision criteria and clothing deprivation scale were used for the study. The Koreans chose both brand name and newest fashion as higher criteria than Taiwanese. Both countries chose fit (4.28/ 4.09) as an important factor of how often they think about things when they decide what clothes to wear. Compared to Korean women, clothing deprivation for clothes for school was twice as high among Taiwanese women. Korean women had relatively low percentage of clothing deprivation for clothing for school and for friends. However, they did have higher clothing deprivation for dress-up clothes.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the differences of clothing majors and non-majors in clothing knowledge and consumption behavior. Subjective and objective knowledge were compared and factors of clothing consumption behavior were analyzed across the two groups. The subjects of this study were female student who went to University in Seoul. Data from 150 college female students were analyzed using SPSS. Results indicated that clothing majors had significantly higher level of clothing knowledge. The differences were smaller for subjective knowledge levels than objective knowledge levels. Clothing majors tended to reform their clothes and coordinate their clothing items better than non-majors. They considered styles more importantly than brands but have some level of conformity. Among clothing consumption behavior factors, reform ability and coordination ability significantly affected clothing knowledge.
The purpose of this study was to investigate research trends of subject matter in clothing construction field in clothing and textiles and to suggest the information for the future directions for fashion business and research. 2737 articles with clothing and textiles subject matter, 350 articles with clothing construction field in the Journal of Korean Society of Costume and Journal of the Korean Society of Clothing and Textiles from 2001 through 2010 were analyzed. The major conclusions of the study are as follows: 1. Clothing construction field took 12.8% with 350 articles in the researches of the Journal Publications in 2000s. 2. Clothing construction field showed more proportions in the latter half of the decade. 3. Clothing construction field were classified into 5 topics : topic of basic pattern and pattern for apparel, topic of body types, topic of functionality of clothing and protective clothing, topic of size system of apparel, topic of sewing and manufacturing process. 4. In clothing construction field, topic of basic pattern and pattern for apparel took the most proportions. 5. Topic of body types, topic of functionality of clothing and protective clothing, topic of size system of apparel, topic of sewing and manufacturing process were followed.
This study aimed to give an updated description of general clothing behavior patterns of the Korean elderly women. 430 women over 60 years old residing in Seoul wre surveyed with a questionnaire asking about their daily practices of clothing selection, disposal, recycling, quantity and place of purchase, and their background variables. Data were treated to SPSS for descriptive statistics, Chi-square analysis, ANOVA and Duncan's multiple range test. The result revealed that the wardrobe of the Korean aged women is by now fully oriented toward the western style. The subjects disposed of their clothing mainly because of their body size changes and had elementary fitting problems unsolved. They had clothing recycling experinces and turned out to be inactive clothing consumers with differing shopping places according to the types of clothing items to be purchased. The subjects'age and income level had significant effects on various facets of their clothing behavior.
The purpose of this study were; (1) to investigate the relationship between the general values and 3 aspects of clothing behaviors. (2) to investigate attitudes toward Korean clothing between students and their mothers. General values were measured by the Allport-Vernon-Lindzey Study of Values(Part 1 only), which determines relative prominence of six basic values. Three aspects of clothing behaviors were assessed by statements dealing with satisfaction, exhibitionism, and fashion. Korean clothing measures consisted of statements dealing with positive and negative attituded toward psychological and practical aspects. The samples consisted of 200 students(student group) and 100 mothers (mother group) in Daejon. The data were analyzed by correlation and t-values. The results obtained through this study were as follows: 1) Positive relationship were found between: (1) Aesthetic value and the exhibitionism of clothing, (2) Aesthetic value and the fashion of clothing. Negative relationships existed between (1) Theoretical value and the exhibitionism of clothing, (2) Economic value and the fashion of clothing, (3) Social value and the fashion of clothing. 2) Significant differences were found between two groups(students and their mothers) : Economic, aesthetic, and political values as well as exhibitionism and fashion in clothing behaviors. 3) In general, highly positive attitude toward Korean clothing was found on psychological aspect, while highly negative attitude was found on practical aspect. Significant differences were found between two groups; (1)‘Graceful’of psychological aspect and‘economic’,‘inexpensive’of practical aspect in positive attitudes toward Korean clothing, (2)‘Unsuitable to current life style’,‘not modern’and‘not beautiful’of psychological aspect in negative attitudes toward Korean clothing.
The primary purpose of this study was to identify the diversity and embellishment of American Indian clothing and relationship between culture and clothing in American Indian Culture Areas. After the introduction of European material culture, change in American Indian clothing was conducted. The result of the Study as follows: 1. The most influential factors affecting the diversity of American Indian clothing were environmental factors. Climates and geographical features, Raw material were reflected in clothing style and clothing material in each culture Area. 2. Economic situation and life style were shown to be influential to clothing development. The best known instance of this was greatly elaborated clothing and personal adornment of the Plains who had higher stand of life and nomadic life style. 3. Religious concepts were important factors influencing American Indian clothing. Indian tribes had different ritual performance they used particular motifs in clothing. Clothing, such as "ghost shirt", Apache medicine shirt and Pueblo ceremonial clothing, served hidden pur- poses. 4. Techenology was another factor identified in this study as influencing American Indian clothing. Especially, weaving skills of Southwest played a great role in textile development. Pueblo "manta" and Navaho "bil" were famous for Indian costume. 5. European material culture allowed great change of traditional native Indian clothing. American Indian had new material, new styles, new concept of clothing. 6. American Indian, although Indian applicated European trade goods, was actually quite conservative in retaining traditional designs and modes of decoration. Asthetics and traction of American Indian were reflected in American Indian clothing.d in American Indian clothing.
The purpose of this study was to develope a questionaire measuring clothing behavior of elementary school children. At first, after pretest, the clothing behavior questionaire consisted of 70 items which were devidad. into 7 subscales i.e. Clothing interest. Clothing satisfaction. Clothing management, Clothing sex-role. Clothing comfort. Clothing conformity. and Clothing independence. Each item was rated on a 3-point scale. Samples were 447 boys and girls (4 th, 5 th, 6 th grade) of three elementary schools in Seoul. Korea. The data were analyzed by item analysis and factor analysis. Factor analysis was useful in attempting to establish contruct validity. Item validity was examined based on the correlation coefficients and item discriminating power through the chi-square. Reliability was examined based on the Cronbach's Alpha Reliability Coefficient and test-retest method. With this analysis the subscales were reconstructed to following 6 factors. Clothing conformity items were not clustered by the factor analysis. 52 items of 6 factors selected by the analysis. The factors characteristics were as follows: 1. Clothing interest (10 items) 2. Clothing satisfaction (11 items) 3. Clothing management (8 items) 4. Clothing sex-role (12 items) 5. Clothing comfort (6 items) 6. Clothing independence (5 items)
In this paper it was observed that the influences of social environment that had been saturated by the modern awareness and west-ern culture effected largely on clothing. Also it was studied how and by what en-vironmental factors the costume during the enlightening period was accepted and devel-oped in Korea relative to social cultural en-vironment. In this research the emphasis was placed on the process of changing to western clothing especially the influence of Group Clothing on the general women's clothing. Therefore the types of group clothing and its influences were studied. in this study the types of group clothing recalled were modern women's clothing mission-ary women's clothing professional women's such as nurse uniforms school girls' uniforms and the invention of women's sports wear. And lastly it was searched for the direction of developent in apparels. From the above mentioned we can conclude that the clothing is inseparable from social and cultural Invironments and foreign affairs of politics at the time. Also it is considered that the types of group styles were the necessary happenings in the early stage of modern so-ciety. Because of historical situation in Korea the western clothing style had taken place in a short period of time. however Korean women's clothing which had been centerred around group clothing was considered to have changed from Korean traditional costume to western clothing by rational decisions of modern awareness in-stead of sudden change from traditional clothing to western clothing by indiscrete acceptance of western culture.
