  • This study is for getting sacrificial service, discussing process of sacrificial rituals and understanding the composition of space in Dong-gok Jaesa. For these things, we're arranged for exact blueprint through actual survey and analyzed the architectural features. Dong-gok Jaesa has features which show centripetal space organization with strong closing sparsely. This is intended for sincerity during ritual which is processed without obstruction. This is a mixed form which is unified both straight dwelling and Jung Dang Hyeop Sil type. And this is for all functions which is necessary for Jaesa architecture in only one building. And this is used with organizing technique for space utility with connection of compartments and various enlargement and partition. Through these things, even though it is not a big Jaesa, it shows that this is Korea traditional composition of space technique according to several purposes.

  • We experienced a case of 49-year-old male patient with amputated two fingers preserved in Soju (Korean traditional liquor, a kind of alcoholic beverages). The amputation level of the two fingers was at the distal interphalangeal joint. The Soju was not an adequate physiologic solution for preserving the amputated tissues. Even though arterial anastomosis was successful, there was no venous drainage visible in the operative field. On the first day after the initial operation, we succeeded in the anastomosis of one vein in one of the two amputated fingers. This was 12 hours after arterial anastomosis was carried out. But no venous dranage was visible in the other finger. In spite of a salvage procedure sustained with external bleeding for 7 days, this replanted fingertip eventually fell into necrosis.

  • In this study, the algorithm for the optimum design of cantilever retaining wall was de veloped and solved using Modified Method of Feasible Directions(MMFD), Sequential Linear Programming(SLP) and Sequential Quadratic Programming(SQP). The algorithm was applied to the optimum design of 3-different height cantilever re tairing walls. It was shown that even though the starting points and optimization strategies are dif- ferent, the objective function and optimum design variables converge to within a close range, and consequently the reliability and efficiency of the underlying optimum design algorithm can be verified. It is expected that the optimum design algorithm developed in this study can be utilized efficiently for the optimum design of any scale cantilever retaining wall. Using optimum design method, cantilever retaining wall will be designed more economi- cally and reasonably than using traditional design method.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore characteristics of natural history museum exhibits from the viewpoint of science education. A total of ninety exhibits for this study were examined in national science museums of Korea and Japan. Exhibits of Tokyo national science museum were again divided into two groups: the old and traditional types, and the new and renovated ones. Even though analyzing data was not undertaken through quantitative statistical process, the interpretation of the data was valid enough to fulfill the purpose of the research. While there were clear changes and differences between the old and the new types of exhibits in Tokyo national science museum, the old part of Tokyo museum was similar to one in Korea. Based on analyzing the new types of Tokyo museum, the current movement in the field of natural history museums of Korea explicitly has toward utilizing more science education concepts and ideas.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore college women's views of women for forming an upright sex role identity and sex values. Method: The data were collected through in-depth interviews of 10 college women on Jeju Island from February 2002 to March 2002. The interviews were conducted by the writer of this thesis. Each interview lasted for about 45 minutes. The data were analyzed by the Giorgi method. Result: Five main meanings were identified: 1) unfairness 2) majesty 3) mothering 4) womenishness 5) backward in capacity. In other words, women's roles are to look after their family and to take care of household affairs. Women should be beautiful and have womenish traits. Women are less intelligent than men. Women are dependent on men though they suffer from unfairness. This study presents an evidence that the traditional sex-role attitudes still prevail. Conclusion: In order to form an upright sex role identity and sex values, institutional programs in the society and individual efforts are needed.

  • As lamps using LEDs are developed actively, also there have been large request for LED lamps that can replace traditional lamps like fluorescent lamps and metal halide lamps. But so far there are no proper standards that manufacturer can use and test their lamps. As a result of this, manufacturers are not only unable to develop LED lamps but also sell it even though they have technology. In this study, It is proposed that proper test method by investigating compatibility between all-type control gear and LED lamps by analyzing control gear for fluorescent lamp such as magnetic or electronic ballast that is currently used in the market.

  • Information Technology influenced on classroom to change the teaching and learning method. Recently, flipped learning method became a hot issue in education by using Information Technology. Learning management system that is introduced in our university in the spring semester 2015, made it possible to apply flipped learning method. So, we used the flipped learning method in a calculus course. In this paper, we found that flipped learning in Calculus we was a little bit affirmative in the aspect of motivation and active learning from students' response on flipped learning method. We analyzed the reason that students were not so positive in continuing flipped learning even though they liked flipped learning a little bit better than traditional learning. We suggest what we pay attention to for applying the flipped learning method effectively.

  • Privacy-preserving collaborative filtering schemes are becoming increasingly popular because they handle the information overload problem without jeopardizing privacy. However, they may be susceptible to shilling or profile injection attacks, similar to traditional recommender systems without privacy measures. Although researchers have proposed various privacy-preserving recommendation frameworks, it has not been shown that such schemes are resistant to profile injection attacks. In this study, we investigate two memory-based privacy-preserving collaborative filtering algorithms and analyze their robustness against several shilling attack strategies. We first design and apply formerly proposed shilling attack techniques to privately collected databases. We analyze their effectiveness in manipulating predicted recommendations by experimenting on real data-based benchmark data sets. We show that it is still possible to manipulate the predictions significantly on databases consisting of masked preferences even though a few of the attack strategies are not effective in a privacy-preserving environment.

  • Transformer mineral oil which is normally hydrocarbon based is non- biodegradable and pollutes the environment in all aspects. Though vegetable oils are eco-friendly in nature and potentially could be used in transformers as a replacement for the mineral oil, there usage is restricted because of their oxidative instability. The present work focuses on using rapeseed oil and pongamia (pongamia pinnata) oil as effective alternatives for the traditional mineral oil in power transformer. The oxidative stability of the rapeseed oil and pongamia oil is increased by using combinations of the natural and synthetic anti-oxidants as additives. The parameters like breakdown voltage, viscosity, flash point, fire point are measured for the rapeseed oil and pongamia oil with and without the additives as per IEC and ASTM standards. The results shown encouraging changes in the parameter values and ensures the use of the oils as a potential alternative insulation in power transformers.

  • Documents in a traditional PDM(Product Data Management) system have been managed in a form of scanned document files or electronic documents developed by specific tools. Though each tool manages documents with its own systematical methods, it has drawbacks in data search, data integration and interchange, etc. For this reason, in this research we propose an efficient document management system for PDM by using the SGML(Standard Generalized Markup Language), one of CALS and ISO standards for document interchanges. Among documents to be managed in PDM, the engineering change notification (ECN) is taken into account. The DTD (Document Type Definition) has been constucted based on the logical analysis of the documents format, In addition, based on the DTD, DB classes have been designed by object-oriented paradigms and a prototype for document input/output and search has been developed using UniSQL ORDBMS (Object-Relational DBMS) and PowerBuilder under the client/server environment.
