The double teeth include gemination and fusion. The congenital missing tooth is the absence of the tooth. The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of double teeth and congenital missing teeth in preschool children of Iksan city. The study population consisted of 1,031 children, 569 boys and 462 girls, aged from 17 to 84 months. The double teeth possess a variety of diagnostic and treatment problems. Gemination is the partial splitting of a single bud into two distinct entities that remain joined in a Siamese twin fashion. Fusion is the joining of two buds. Both may be normal, or one may be a supernumerary tooth. Congenital missing is the absence of one or a few teeth. Twenty three(11 boys and 12 girls) of the 1,031 children had double teeth and 17(8 boys and 9 girls) exhibited congenital missing of teeth. The prevalence of double primary teeth was 2.2%. The prevalence of congenital missing teeth was 1.6%. One subject had double teeth and congenital missing tooth at the same time. Of the 17 cases of congenital missing teeth, one girl showed it in the maxilla and aye boys and six girls had them in the unilateral side of the mandible. There were no significant differences in the prevalence of double teeth and congenital missing teeth between the boys and the girls.
The threshing of head-feed combine may be accomplished mainly by the action of impact between threshing teeth and rice. In this study, it was attempted to assess threshing performance characteristics of head-feed threshing teeth. And the characteristics of threshing teeth will be applied to the method which could analyze the time and order of impact between teeth and the rice, which was used as a basis for predicting the threshing performance and determining the optimum design parameters. The results of the study are summarized as follows: 1. About 50% of threshed material were threshed by the beginning 7 impacts on the rice bundle. Threshing torque decreased until 25 impacts and did not change thereafter. 2. There was significant difference in the threshability according to the shape of threshing teeth. The triangular-shaped tooth was the most efficient in threshability ratio and the semicircle-shaped tooth was the lowest. There was no significant difference in specific energy requirement for the varied teeth design. Torn-head ratio being generated by the semicircle-shaped and the triangular-shaped teeth in series was less than that by a single tooth with the triangular-shaped and the double setting of the triangular-shaped. Chaff generation ratio by the triangular-shaped and the semicircle-shaped teeth was less than the others tried. 3. The triangular-shaped teeth in series, which was newly designed for this study, showed an intermediate characteristics between the double setting of the triangular-shaped and the semicircle- shaped teeth. Threshability ratio of the triangular-shaped teeth in series was higher than that of the semicircle and lower than the double setting of the triangular-shaped tooth. Torn-head generation ratio for it was about same as that of the semicircle. Chaff being generated by the triangular-shaped teeth in series was about same as the double setting of the triangular-shaped teeth. 4. About 40% of threshed grains which passed through concave were concentrated under the threshing tooth and the rest of grains displayed a skew distribution toward the inlet of threshing chamber.

PURPOSE. The purpose of this in vitro study was to investigate the fracture loads and modes of failure for the full range of natural teeth under simulated occlusal loading. MATERIALS AND METHODS. One hundred and forty natural teeth were taken from mandibles and maxillas of patients. There were 14 groups of teeth with 10 teeth in each group (5 males and 5 females). Each specimen was embedded in resin and mounted on a positioning jig, with the long axis of the tooth at an inclined angle of 30 degrees. A universal testing machine was used to measure the compression load at which fracture of the tooth specimen occurred; loads were applied on the incisal edge and/or functional cusp. RESULTS. The mean fracture load for the mandibular first premolar was the highest (2002 N) of all the types of teeth, while the mean fracture load for the maxillary first premolar was the lowest (525 N). Mean fracture loads for the mandibular and maxillary incisors, and the first and second maxillary premolars, had significantly lower values compared to the other types of teeth. The mean fracture load for the teeth from males was significantly greater than that for the teeth from females. There was an inverse relationship between age and mean fracture load, in which older teeth had lower fracture loads compared to younger teeth. CONCLUSION. The mean fracture loads for natural teeth were significantly different, with dependence on tooth position and the sex and age of the individual.

This study was designed to find out the prevalence d the fused teeth in the primary dentition and their successors. The clinical and panoramic radiographic examination was undertaken of 5226 children (male 2812, female 2414) attended department of Pedodontics, College of Dentistry, Yon Sei University, Seoul, Korea. The results were as follows; 1. The prevalence of the fused teeth in the primary dentition was 1.03 percent and female (1.2%) affected more frequently than male (0.89%). 2. Compare with the maxilla and mandible, the prevalence of the fused teeth were higher in the mandible than in the maxilla. 3. The fusion of the primary teeth were occured between central with lateral incisor in the maxilla, and central with lateral and lateral with canine in the mandible. 4. There were 33 cases (61%) of succeding teeth missing among 54 case of the rused teeth.

The author has observed 906 full mouth roentgenograms in Korean young man who had the impacted and supernumerary teeth. Impacted and supernumerary teeth were analysed upon several items, such as incidences and positions in the dental arch. The result were as follows; 1. The incidences of impacted teeth were 59.05% and the ratio of upper jaw to lower one was 1:3. 2. The frequency of the supernumerary teeth were 5.52% and the ratio of maxilla to mandible was 49:1. 3. No significant differences between right and left side in both jaws, but incidence rate of the supernumerary teeth was 74% in the maxillary central incisor area. 4. The positions of impacted and supernumerary teeth were vertical and inverted shapes in maxilla, whereas horizontal and mesio-angular forms in mandible.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze and estimate whether each company may produce the color of artificial teeth as it stands, in the standard of vita classical shade guide using ShadeScan$^{TM}$ System. Material and methods: we chose the products of 6 companies -EFUCERA, IVOCLAR, ENDURA, TRUBYTE, DURADENT, and DURACROSS- estimated the shade value of each fixed point(cervical, body, and incisal area) of artificial tooth, and verified the equality among the samples from the same company. Results: First, the variation appeared significant at cervical and incisal area. It means that there were significant differences between cervical and incisal area although the most similar artificial teeth to the patients’natural teeth were provided. Second, the results in the body area showed that the variation between artificial and natural teeth was finite(p<0.05) in that area. Conclusion: it shows that the reproduction of colors of artificial teeth might be successful regarding the body is the most important part for a determination of the color of artificial teeth. However, more complements are necessary for the better reproduction of the color of artificial teeth between cervical and incisal area.

Trauma to the primary teeth may have an effect on the successive permanent teeth. Thus, the treatment plans should be focused on safety of their permanent teeth. The degree of developmental disturbances in those permanent teeth depends upon many factors including the age of the children, developmental conditions of the affected teeth, types and severities of trauma and time interval from the moment of trauma to the initial treatment the patients received. The complications of the effected permanent teeth vary from the mild enamel hypoplasia to the premature finishing of teeth development. In this study, children whose ages were 33 months, 5 years, and 26 months presented the developmental disturbances to their permanent teeth, which resulted from the trauma to the primary teeth: the intrusion, the avulsion, and the subluxation. There showed a mild complication in the case of subluxation resulting in enamel hypoplasia, but, the more severe complication of the root dilacerations occurred in the case of intrusion. Furthermore, the 5-year-old patient whose primary dentition was near in transition period to the permanent one, the more complicated problem such as stop of root development of the permanent teeth was resulted from the avulsion. Thus, one should assume that the types of trauma and the age of the children at the moment of trauma have different effects on those successive permanent teeth. In conclusion, when the trauma that causes changes in the position of primary teeth happened, it is important to arrange an appropriate treatment procedure considering the types of trauma and the developmental conditions of the permanent teeth.

The author had sellected stone models of upper premolar teeth from 20 age to 60 ages in male, and studied the attrition pattern of upper premolar teeth having attention to teeth cups on the stone model. All of the attrition patterns were divided (into) 14 forms. The results were as follows : 1. Attrition patterns of upper premolar teeth were divided into 14 forms. 2. Being compared with age group, early attrition pattern (M) showed decreasing tendency and late attrition pattern (A) showed incresing tendency by aging.
Transplantation of one's own teeth from one site to another is called dental autotransplantation. The role of autotransplantation of teeth in several clinical situations, the clinical techniques involved and factors influencing success of the transplant are discussed. Autotransplantation of impacted or retained teeth is an appropriate treatment, if orthodontic traction has failed, especially in growing patients.
