Objectives : This study was performed to report the effect of oriental medical treatments in one patient with traumatic thigh subcutaneous hematoma by traffic accident. Methods : The patient was treated by acupuncture, herbal medicine, pharmacopuncture and cupping for 3 months. Results : After treatments, VAS(visual analog scale) score changed from 10 to 0. MR Imaging showed that the size of subcutaneous hematoma has decreased from $5{\times}11{\times}5.8cm$ to $2.4{\times}3.2{\times}2.6cm$. And the palpation results also showed that the size of subcutaneous hematoma has gotten smaller. Conclusions : Our study suggests that oriental medical treatments such as acupuncture, herbal medicine, pharmacopuncture and cupping may be effective in traumatic subcutaneous hematoma. More cases of controlled treatments are needed to define the effect of oriental medical treatments for traumatic subcutaneous hematoma.

The main symptoms of the Wallenberg's syndrome are ataxia of gait, clumsiness of ipsilateral limbs, nausea and vomiting, vertigo, visual disturbance such as difficulty in focusing blurred vision diplopia, numbness, dysphagia, hoarseness, hiccup, nystagmus, Horner's syndrome. The purpose of this paper is to report the patient with the Wallenberg's syndrome who was improved by oriental medical treatment. The vertigo of the Wallenberg's syndrome is classed as the pungwhadam(風火痰) and we prescribed Cheonghunhwadam-tang. The intensity and frequency of vertigo wewe dramayically improved.

This study was aimed to review the trend of case reports of neuropsychiatry disease. The case reports were collected by retrieving Journal of Oriental Neuropsychiatry and analyzing period were from 1990 to 2010. We analyzed them for publish year, research institution, patients, sorts of diseases, pattern identification diagnosis, instrument, treatment period, sorts of treatments, and treatment with western medicine. We analyzed 142 case reports and there were many kinds of neuropsychiatry diseases and instruments that were evaluated the process. The reserchers used various treatment with oriental medicine. However, the number of case reports have decreased since the year of 2008. Most of the research institutions were university and general oriental medical hospital and the portion of private hospitals was only 2.11%. For the development of practical clinical trial of oriental medicine, we needs more qualifying case report. We hope more reserchers for psychiatry disease of oriental medicine will be interested in the publication of case report and this will serve to produce advance of oriental medicine.

Objectives The purpose of this study is to research related to Taeeumjowui-Tang(Taiyintiaowei-tang) in oriental medicine. Methods "Taeeumjowui-Tang" was used as a search term. In order to see detail review, we classified all the searched study into type, method, purpose, item of evaluation, composition of herbal medication. Results We found out total twenty six studies. They were fifteen pieces of experimental studies, five clinical case studies, five case reports and one literature review according to type and method. There were fourteen thesis that experiments on efficacy and effect in the purpose of study. Only one thesis showed about stability and toxicity. There were eleven prescription of different composition and dosage. In the item of evaluation, serum biochemical analysis, cell study, body and organ weight, food consumption, body mass index, waist circumference, waist-hip circumference ratio, bioelectrical impedance analysis were used. Conclusion To improve more objective and continuous research in oriental medicine, it is needed unity about prescription and dosage, activation of clinical trial research and variation of research subject.

UL-syndrome(鬱證) is a syndrome of emotional depression and various physical symptoms generally due to chronic psychological stress, without constitutional abnormality. These are cases of female patients suffering from headache, chest discomfort, heart burning, insomnia, dyspepsia, anorexia, fatigue and some other minor symptoms due to chronic stress. We diagnosed these cases as UL-syndrome and treated them with oriental medicine, specifically Gamisoyosan(加味逍遙散). This paper describes the symptoms that the patients suffered, the treatment used, and identifies stages in the development of UL-syndrome, and suggests a stage in which Gamisoyosan is efficacious.

Objectives: This case study examined the effects of treatment with traditional Korean medicine on a central post-stroke pain patient, who had impingement syndrome of the right shoulder. Methods: The patient received traditional Korean medical treatments, including acupuncture, warm-needling, moxibustion, and cupping, throughout the treatment period, and extracorporeal shock-wave therapy and physical therapy for part of the treatment period. The effects of treatments were measured with a manual muscle test (MMT), numerical rating scale (NRS), range of motion (ROM), and gait staging index (self-invented). Results: The clinical symptoms of the patient were improved considerably after the complete treatment. Conclusions: Traditional Korean medicine may be effective for treatment of central post-stroke pain in patients with impingement syndrome.

Objective : The purpose of this study was to review on exercise therapy of oriental medicine and investigate the effect of Oriental medicine's exercise therapy. Methods : We have researched and analyzed theories and literatures of Oriental medicine's exercise therapy. Result : The following results were obtained in this study. 1. The Doin therapy is one of Oriental medicine's traditional rules for one´s health which based on 'Unity of Heaven and Man'. It grow and supply the 'Qi' for improve health, and connote solution of modern society's various diseases. 2. The Chuna therapy is one of Oriental medicine's traditional therapy that treat harden, set in or malposition of musculoskeletal system 3. Meditation refers to all activities that concentrate the consciousness to current state, have physiological and psychological effects such as pain and stress management. 4. Oriental medicine's exercise therapy connote the strength that apply to medical care for the aged and psychical disorders of modern man. 5. For revitalization of Oriental medicine's exercise therapy, need more active public relations, develop modern methods of Qigong and Significant clinical research on the effects must be carried out. Conclusion : Oriental medicine's exercise therapy can be a solution to various diseases of modern society, and need significant research for revitalization.

The objective of this study is to report the effectiveness of active postoperative rehabilitation on clavicular fracture by oriental medical interventions and to suggest the importance of proper rehabilitation after operation. A female patient, 43 years old, who had operation for right distal clavicular fracture was treated by oriental medical rehabilitation. We evaluated the consequence by checking numeric rating scale(NRS), shoulder range of motion and shoulder pain and disability index(SPADI). The pain of the patient was decreased and the shoulder range of motion was advanced. SPADI score was decreased. Postoperative-oriental medical rehabilitation can be effectively used for a patient on postoperative state of clavicular fracture. Further studies are needed to set up a rehabilitation protocol with oriental medical interventions after operation.

Objectives : This study is designed to evaluate the effectiveness of muscle energy techniques and acupuncture therapy on patients with idiopathic lumbar scoliosis. Methods : We have investigated 3 patients with idiopathic lumbar scoliosis, used muscle energy techniques and acupuncture therapy, measured Cobb's angle before and after treatment. Results : After treatment, One case, the L-spine Cobb's angle correctability was 62.74%, another case was 34.66%, the other case was 45.50%. Conclusions : These results suggest that muscle energy techniques and acupuncture therapy was effective treatment on patients with idiopathic lumbar scoliosis.

The objective of this study is to report the effectiveness of Korean medical rehabilitation for total knee replacement. Three female patients who had total knee replacement were treated by Korean medical rehabilitation with protocol. We evaluated the consequences by checking numeric rating scale (NRS), Lysholm knee score, physical examination of knee joint and walking state. After Korean medical rehabilitation, we find out that the pain and function were improved. NRS, Lysholm knee score, physical examination of knee joint, walking state of patients were also improved. Korean medical rehabilitation can be effectively used for total knee replacement patients. There is a limit that this study hasn't sufficient number of cases. Further studies are needed to set up a Korean medical rehabilitation protocol.
