Background: In this retrospective study, we aimed to determine which diagnostic tests were associated with an improvement in Bell's palsy symptoms. Methods: There were 30 patients who visited Kyung Hee University Korean Medicine Hospital from April 1, 2017 to February 29, 2020, and who received East-West collaboration treatment for Bell's palsy. The tests included electroneurography (ENoG), electromyography (EMG), hematology, and heart rate variability (HRV) results which were used to determine if any test correlated with improvement of Bell's palsy symptoms. Results: The initial severity of symptoms did not correlate with the tests performed, with the exception of mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (p = 0.013). For both ENoG for oculi degeneration and mean EMG tests, the rate of nerve degeneration showed a significant negative correlation with the improvement of Bell's palsy symptoms. Amongst the HRV test indicators, the square root of the mean of the sum of the squares of differences between the adjacent normal R-R wave interval, the standard deviation of intervals, total power, very low frequency, and high frequency of the wave was negatively correlated with improvement of Bell's palsy symptoms. Similarly, glycosylated hemoglobin Type A1c (HbA1c) and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) showed a negative correlation with improvement of symptoms of Bell's palsy. With the exception of HbA1c and ESR, the remaining hematology test results showed no significant difference when comparing before and after treatment. Conclusion: ENoG, EMG, HRV test, HbA1c, and ESR negatively correlated with improvements in Bell's palsy symptoms and may determine the prognosis of Bell's palsy.

The effects of modified atmosphere(MA) storage for fresh red chili pepper and red bell pepper fruits were investigated with storing in polyethylene film with various fine holes. During the storage of the both pepper fruits, the weight loss, color change, mold emergence, and firmness were evaluated. The weight loss of pepper fruits packaged without holes on film was less than 3%, even though it was each 50% and 25% for non packaged red chili pepper and red bell pepper fruits. The rates of mold emergence of red chili pepper and red bell pepper fruits were reached to each 60% and 50% at the end of storage period as stored in film without holes. However, the rate of mold emergence of pepper fruits was lowered when fruits were stored in MA with low relative humidity (70∼80%). The color and firmness of pepper fruits were not much changed when fruits were stored in MA with high humidity.

Vibration and sound characteristics of King Song-Dok Bell are measured and the modal property is investigated. The effect of striking position and modal property on the beat characteristics is examined. It is first found that the beat characteristics are quite different according to the position on the bell surface and clear beat is periodically generated on the circumference. It turns out that in King Song-Dok Bell, striking Dangjwa(the present striking position) makes a beat in the first vibration mode, as well as it produces very clear beat in the second vibration mode.

It is first found that the beat characteristics are quote different according to the position on the bell surface and clear beat is periodically generated on the circumference. It turns out that in King Song-Dok Bell, Dangjwa(the present striking position) is located at the position which makes a beat in the first vibration mode, as welt as it produces very clear beat In the second vibration mode.

The purpose of this report was to show that the oriental medical treatment is effective on recurrent bell's palsy. We investigated 1 patient with recurrent bell's palsy who was a case of recurrent ipsilateral bell's palsy with four distinct episodes over the past 11 years. As a treatment, Ligigepung-san(Liqiqufeng-san), Acupuncture, and Moxa were tried upon the patient for 40 days in order to relieve the symptom of palsy. In terms of observing the changes of symptoms, the progress of patient's condition was evaluated periodically by using the House-Brackamnn's grading system. In accordance with the observation under House-Brackamann's grading system, the patient's facial nerve palsy had gradually improved throughout the treatment. Therefore, this report suggests that Ligigepung-san (Liqiqufeng-sa n), Acupuncture, and Moxa are probably effective in the treatment of recurrent Bell's palsy.

The aim of this study was to investigate that thermal imaging is objective and effective to evaluate the severity of Bell's palsy. We investigated 19 cases of patients in college of Oriental Medicine, Iksan Oriental medical hospital at Wonkwang university who were diagnosed with Bell's palsy. The degree of palsy was evaluated with House-Brackmann grading system(HBGS) before treatment, then the thermal difference of the face was calculated by thermal imaging, and finally the correlation between HBGS and thermal difference was analyzed. The significance correlation was found between HBGS and thermal imaging's thermal difference. According to the images taken from 17 patients' DITI's temperature value and HBGS's palsy grade, they significantly were correlated. As thermal imaging's thermal differences got larger in number, the palsy grade had increased. These results suggest that thermal imaging identified to be a relatively objective examination method for evaluating the severity of Bell's palsy.

In this paper, we consider a new sequence called by the C-sequence of the Riordan array. It allows us to find a simple proof for several combinatorial identities. Further, we prove that a C-sequence characterizes Bell subgroup of the Riordan group.

Objective : Bell's palsy is common and has many clinic study. but bell's palsy prognosis is not enough specific. So this study was evaluated bell's palsy prognosis, treatment number, sequela of normal group and bad prognosis group. Methods : From June 2009 to June 2010, patients who visited Dong-seo Oriental Medicine ENT. A clinic study was done on patient who were diagnosed bell's palsy, onset 2weeks within when first visited OPD and treated 3 times over in Dong-seo Oriental Medicine Cental. To evaluate grade of paralysis, House-Brackman Scale was used. We classified treatment numbers of each HB-Scale group, normal gIVroup and bad prognosis group. Results : The distribution of Onset HB-Scale : Gr II 26.25%, Gr III 67.5%, Gr IV 6.25% Onset HB-Scale Gr II patients completely recover 100% Onset HB-Scale Gr III patients completely recover 64.8%, improved 27.8%, nothing change 7.4% Onset HB-Scale Gr IV patients completely recover 40%, improved 60% Onset HB-Scale Gr II & IV patients recovery percentage make no difference of normal group (Group A) and bad prognosis. Onset HB-Scale Gr III patients completely recover Group A 66.7%, Group B 52.9%, improved Group A 23.2%, Group 35.3%, noting change Group A 5.1%, Group B 11.8% Onset HB-Scale Gr II patients has no sequela. Onset HB-Scale Gr III & IV patients has tendency that they treat more times, more improving and less sequela probability Conclusion : Onset HB-Scale is the indicator of acute bell's palsy prognosis.

Spherical harmonics power spectrum of the geopotential field of Gaussian-bell type on the sphere was investigated using integral formula that is associated with Legendre polynomials. The geopotential field of Gaussian-bell type is defined as a function of sine of angular distance from the bell's center in order to guarantee the continuity on the global domain. Since the integral-formula associated with the Legendre polynomials was represented with infinite series of polynomial, an estimation method was developed to make the procedure computationally efficient while preserving the accuracy. The spherical harmonics power spectrum was shown to vary significantly depending on the scale parameter of the Gaussian bell. Due to the accurate procedure of the new method, the power (degree variance) spanning over orders that were far higher than machine roundoff was well explored. When the scale parameter (or width) of the Gaussian bell is large, the spectrum drops sharply with the total wavenumber. On the other hand, in case of small scale parameter the spectrum tends to be flat, showing very slow decaying with the total wavenumber. The accuracy of the new method was compared with theoretical values for various scale parameters. The new method was found advantageous over discrete numerical methods, such as Gaussian quadrature and Fourier method, in that it can produce the power spectrum with accuracy and computational efficiency for all range of total wavenumber. The results of present study help to determine the allowable maximum scale parameter of the geopotential field when a Gaussian-bell type is adopted as a localized function.

Let x be an element of a group G and be an automorphism of G. Then for a positive integer n, the autocommutator $[x,_n{\alpha}]$ is defined inductively by $[x,{\alpha}]=x^{-1}x^{\alpha}=x^{-1}{\alpha}(x)$ and $[x,_{n+1}{\alpha}]=[[x,_n{\alpha}],{\alpha}]$. We call the group G to be n-auto-Engel if $[x,_n{\alpha}]=[{\alpha},_nx]=1$ for all $x{\in}G$ and every ${\alpha}{\in}Aut(G)$, where $[{\alpha},x]=[x,{\alpha}]^{-1}$. Also, for any integer $n{\neq}0$, 1, a group G is called an n-auto-Bell group when $[x^n,{\alpha}]=[x,{\alpha}^n]$ for every $x{\in}G$ and each ${\alpha}{\in}Aut(G)$. In this paper, we investigate the properties of such groups and show that if G is an n-auto-Bell group, then the factor group $G/L_3(G)$ has finite exponent dividing 2n(n-1), where $L_3(G)$ is the third term of the upper autocentral series of G. Also, we give some examples and results about n-auto-Bell abelian groups.
