Fire characteristics of a typical apartment building in Korea was studied through full scale experiment and zone model simulation. The fire was ignited at the living room and allowed to spread to other parts of a single unit in a five storied apartment building. Various data including temperatures, species concentrations, and images were collected in the experiment. A zone model(CFAST) was used to analyze the same apartment building that represents the average households in Korea. The results were compared with a full scale experiments. While CFAST allows one compartment involved with fire, the experiment allowed the fire to spread to other compartments. Therefore, the comparison between experimental data and Zone-Model data is valid until the living-room fire spread to other parts of the apartment. Flashover occurred at approximately 380 seconds in a fire experiment, and at approximately 420 seconds in Zone-Model. Based on all of data between experimental data and Zone-Model data, it is concluded that the safe escape time is about 250 seconds.

The korean elderly population over the age from 60's is increasing. Especially, elderly over the 60's furniture which resides at the apartment is increasing. Consequently, We are predicted by elderly furniture which resides at the apartment increasing. A life leisure of elderly is occupying big importance. We come to be high and are interested also to treat in the elderly leisure problem. The leisure equipment for elderly is important residing area. The purpose of this study is to analyze the uses of the elderly houses in Korean and to provide for some basic useful data to designing of the elderly houses. 2 elderly houses located in the apartment complexes in Seoul were sampled, and interview with questionnaire was conducted for 14 elderly people. The questionnaire, consisted ; conditions of the elderly houses, users' satisfaction and users' characteristics.

The purpose of this study is to get preeminent data from comparative analysis of multi-family housing unit plans between Korea and China nowadays. Even though Korea and China belong to common cultured band in Asia, there are many different Housing aspects and unit plans. Through this study we want to grasp the characteristics of both nation's apartment unit plans and to contribute for advance into the China apartment market. Analysis target is constructing and lotting out apartment at South Korea and China in 2004, and the space syntax model is used as an analysis tool. First, analyze kind, number and special quality of each room by use area, and second, analyze area and scale of the rooms. Through the integration analysis we know the grade of rank and centrality of each rooms, and search difference of South Korean and Chinese apartment.

The purpose of this study suggests the emotion of residents as indexes in Korean housing environment for providing a fundamental guideline for precise dwelling social science and indicating the view for understanding of residents in korean housing culture in korea. So this paper explores the role of residents emotion indexes in housing environment and community. For this study, survey and depth-interview methods were used for data collection. The subjects were 514 housewives living in apartments. The statistical methods for data analysis were frequency, mean, multiple linear regression and logistic regression analysis using the SPSS 18.0 program The major findings are as follows: 1)Pride of neighborhood, pride of apartment complex and sense of superiority were important factors for residental satisfaction. 2)Conspicuous image of neighbors and active contact with neighbors were import factors for their neighborship in the apartment complex. The results develop the housing environment evaluation indexes in community through the contextual understanding of space emotion society.

Korean apartment buildings have been manhattanized and enlarged, but it caused increase of fire accidents. Fire accidents such as Uijeongbu apartment fire(2015), and Ssangmoon apartment fire(2016) caused many deads because of a lack of emergency exit route awareness. Follow to advanced research, conducted suervey on fire safety awareness. On this study, it will present the basic data based on the result of the survey to secure the life.

Currently, it is increasing the importance of floor impact sound performance in apartment building due to users' various needs for comfortable residential environments. However, there are little date on floor impact sound performance because Korean apartment building floor is an ON-DOL which is made of several elements. In this study, floor impact sound performance according to variation of floor construction method were investigated. And based on these investigated results, datas can be used to supply constructor and comsumer basis data to estimate floor impact sound performance.

The Korean construction market and housing policy have been increasingly focusing on supplier. As opposed to houses in private areas, Apartment House using the common infrastructure such as elevators, electrical facilities, heating system and hot water supply system need joint management. Their management usually depends on the resident cooperation or outsourcing. On this study, I investigated the level of satisfaction of Apartment House residents and its managing personnel, the conditions of its management, and analysed the important factors which influence the degree of residence satisfaction with respect to its maintenance and management.

This study designed to explore the patterns of housing life-styles and the characteristics of apartment housing residents and to examine the relationships between housing life-styles and the characteristics of apartment-housing residents. The data for this study was collected by questionnaires administered to 278 homemakers living in apartment housing over 20s pyong(66$m^2$) in the Kwangju area. The major findings of this study can be summarized as follows; 1. Housing life-styles were grouped into 9 sub-categories : the Anbang-centered, the dining-centered, the pursuit of conspicuosness and conformity, orientation to change, the pursuit of orderliness, the pursuit of decoration, orientation to community, pursuit of individuality and the orientation to a natural environment. 2. Housing life-styles were significantly different according to age, educational background, and employment status of homemakers, occupation of the primary income provider, family-life cycle stage, total household income, and housing size. The shortage of storage space in the apartment housing has been chronic problem in the Korean housing history. So far many studies on the storage space focused on the enlargement of indoor storage space but these studies could not be a complete solution. To solve problem, this study analyzed the case which installed exterior storage space and the regulations. The followings are several findings. The exterior storage space should be a essential element in the apartment planning and should be included as a community facility. The standards on the size, safety, facility, and management of storage space should be enacted.
