This research concluded that the area is most sensitively affected by the maritime traffic congestion rather than other factors including the ship's speed and fairway width. We performed a literature review for the area used in Japan, Denmark, and Shanghai ports, and analyzed by comparing with the area in Jinhae, Korea through the observation survey of marine traffic. The result of sensitivity analysis concluded that the congestion is affected by amount of 10% by changing 1 knot of the ship's speed, 18% of 100m of the fairway width, and 34%~43% of 1L of ship's length. By applying the result into the current audit system using $8L{\times}3.2L$, $6L{\times}1.6L$, we found that there is big difference with $3.5L{\times}1.5L$ in Japan, $5.9L{\times}2.2L$ in Shanghai, $4L{\times}5B$ in Denmark, and $3L{\times}2L$ in Jinhae, Korea. For this reason, further studies should be carried out in near future to the area mostly affected by congestion.

Recently, the possibility of abnormal waves of which height is greater than design wave height have been increased due to the climate change, and therefore it has been urgent to secure the stability for harbor structures. As a countermeasure for improving the stability of conventional caisson breakwaters, a method has been proposed in which adjacent caissons are interlocked with each other to consecutively resist the abnormal wave forces. In order to reflect this research trend, the reduction effect of the maximum wave force resulted from introducing a long caisson has been presented in the revision to the design criteria for ports and fishing harbors and commentary. However, no method has been proposed to evaluate the stability of interlocking caisson breakwater. In this study, we consider the effect of the phase difference of the oblique incidence of the wave based on the linear wave theory and apply the Goda pressure formula for considering design wave pressure distribution in the vertical direction. Sliding stability assessment formula of an interlocking caisson breakwater is proposed for regular, irregular, and multi-directional irregular wave conditions.

Recently, The MRV (monitoring, reporting and verification) regulation, which measures, reports and verifies the emission gas of vessel to head for member countries of Europe Union (EU), is being implemented. As part this reason, we develop a system that estimates simple fuel consumption and recommends optimized stop-over ports of vessel, to calculate amount of carbon emission. To do this, we analyze fuel, distance and time consumption between port and the other port based on stored voyage data for over 10 years of real-ship, and implement a simple fuel consumption estimation module using analyzed result. Also, we design and implement the optimized route recommendation algorithm, existing navigation route display function including comparison with the optimized routes and user custom route plan function. Therefore, we expect the developed system is helpful when makes a navigation route and so on by reference indexes and we anticipate the system to have a sense for future research which learns and predicts for accuracy result.
By using data envelopment analysis(DEA) this research measures the efficiency of Korea's seven middle-sized seaports and their Malmquist productivity from 1998 to 2007. Under the assumption of CRS(constant returns to scale) and VRS(variable returns to scale), seaports' ranking of efficiency are measured. Kunsan Port is confirmed as a middle-performed port in the various measurements. Important finding facts are as follows. 1)Kunsan Port has the efficiency level from 53% to 57% of efficient ports' level under the assumption of CRS and VRS. 2)In terms of average efficiency level, the gap among these 7 seports' efficiency levels has been widened during the period from 1998 to 2007. 3)Kunsan Port has shown the characteristics of DRS more frequently in terms of returns to scale. 4) Kunsan Port's average total factor productivity has been lower at the rate of 0.7% during the period from 1998 to 2007. 5)Kunsan Port has shown technical progress at the rate of 3.1% in this period. In future research the more and better data will be expected to improve the understanding of Korean seaports' efficiency characteristics.

In this paper, the Magneto-Electric(ME) dipole array antenna with dual-polarization in the X-Band is proposed and it is implemented and measured. The proposed array antenna is composed of 32 single ME dipole antenna and a Teflon PCB. 1 × 1 ME dipole antenna is implemented dual-polarization by radiating vertical polarization and horizontal polarization from two pairs of radiators. 2-port feeding structures are realized by lamination process using LTCC. And, each port independently feeds the radiator through a Γ-shaped feeding strip with isolation between ports. The Teflon PCB used in the antenna array has a 4-layer structure, and 2-port is fed through the top and bottom layers. The λg/4 transformer is applied to the transmission line of the Teflon PCB for impedance matching of the arrayed antenna and the Teflon PCB, and the optimal parameters are obtained through simulation. The measured maximum antenna gains of port 1 was 18.2 dBi, Cross-pol was 1.0 dBi. And the measured maximum antenna gains of port 1 was 18.1 dBi, Cross-pol was 3.2 dBi.
In the case of Korea, policy support for shipping companies is limited, and the financial support should address the scale and period of support. Comprehensive measures are needed to boost the chances of reviving the industry. In order to secure competitiveness, the shipping companies need to make continuous efforts, prepare for the future by strengthening environmental regulations, and ensure that they have the ability to be flexible in their responses. The shipbuilding industry witnessed some improvement last year amid severe recession, but reforms are needed to address external and internal structural problems; further, to gain the characteristics of future leading industries, it is necessary to secure core technologies, as well as differentiated and specialized industrial competitiveness among rival countries through joint government intervention and joint R&D investment. Taking these steps will ensure that it has environment-friendly vessels and economic shipbuilding capabilities. The competitiveness of Busan Port should enable the utilization of the geopolitical characteristics of East Asia and contribute to: regional economic revitalization; development of its status as hub port; and securing the position of developed countries in East Asian logistics. For this purpose, it is necessary to establish a strategy to: expand the usability of shipowners/carriers; improve the quality of port operations; improve the portability of the smart system; expand the port of mega-ocean carriers; speed up port operations; and create low-cost ports. The establishment of a network of four countries will also require long-term global linkages. For example, there is a need to establish a logistics network between Eurasia and the European region, which will use the Russian Land Bridge System, as well as that of China.
Korea has gradually been developing port distriparks in major domestic trade ports to diversify their function and create added-value. New tenant companies are needed to help achieve these goals, but no research has been done on selection criteria. To provide such criteria, this study conducted a comparative analysis of the productivity of tenant companies in Busan New Port Distripark based on their characteristics. SFP (single-factor productivity) was measured using the operational data of 67 companies in the distripark over the past - three years (2017-2019). The results indicate that the logistics business and the manufacturing business have strengths in cargo volume productivity and in sales productivity respectively. Also, Northern distripark, a relatively older facility, was found to be more productive than Ung-dong distripark. Finally, the effect of investment-both foreign and in FAC/EQ (facility and equipment)-on productivity showed an inverse relationship with productivity, with the companies with under-average investments being more productive than those whose investments were above average. Therefore, to enhance the productivity and competitiveness of port distriparks, tenant companies must be subject to supplemented system and law for increasing employment and cargo volume, and reestablished selection criteria.
In this study, we sought to establish a vessel-discharge pollutant-treatment system recommended by IMO by first investigating advanced facilities overseas to help us understand and evaluate our domestic facility and needs. IMO recommends the installation and operation of port pollutant-storage facilities to adequately treat pollutants emitted by ships entering the port, and we reviewed the registration and operation of these facilities in IMO member countries, focusing on the IIII Code. Due to recent environmental regulations, additional facilities are required to treat the washing water discharged from equipment such as scrubbers mounted on the ship so pollutant-storage facilities must be established. Currently, Korea's ship-discharged wastes are being moved from ports to land waste-treatment plants, and their quantity and properties are not being monitored. Therefore, in this study, we improved monitoring of the discharged pollutants and investigated the proper arrangement of pollutant storage facilities as recommended by IMO. The system we established can help provide smooth service to incoming ships - and appropriate treatment of pollutants and will greatly benefit international maritime operations.

This study collected and analyzed case studies related with the use of spatial information in North Korea to prioritize construction and required supporting processes in order to propose a short-term and long-term road map for the establishment of spatial information in North Korea. Recent research cases related to the prioritization of spatial information development were analyzed, and priority for the construction of infrastructure was derived based on the interconnectedness and relationship of national infrastructure. Due to the inaccessibility and remoteness of North Korea, all of the five studies determined priorities according to questionnaires and consulting of refugees and knowledgeable figures by expert groups. In summary, priority was given to unarmed and transborder areas, major cities, special zones, and development zones, while in terms of facilities, priority was given to power communication, railroads, water and sewage architectural buildings, roads, and dams. In the case of prioritizing the establishment of national infrastructure for the unified Korean Peninsula, the development of major areas, ports, and the related city-level spots to develop a line that promotes the sharing of routes such as transportation networks, water, and energy, thus leading to a scenario involving the development of cotton at an urban and national level.
As global supply chain risks proliferate unpredictably, the high interdependence of port and logistics industry intensifies the risk burden. This study conducted fundamental research to explore diverse safety issues in domestic ports. Utilizing news article data about Busan Port, we employed LDA topic modeling and time-series linear regression to understand key safety trends. Over the past 30 years, Busan Port faced nine major safety issues-maritime safety, import cargo inspection, labor strikes, and natural disasters emerged cyclically. Major port safety issues in Busan Port are primarily characterized by an unpredictable nature, falling under socio-environmental and natural phenomena types, indicating a significant impact of global uncertainty. Therefore, systematic policies need to be formulated based on identified port safety issues to enhance port safety in Busan Port. Additionally, there is a need to strengthen the resilience of port safety for unpredictable risk situations. In conclusion, advanced research activities are necessary to promote port safety enhancement in response to dynamically changing social conditions.
