  • In this paper, it was analyzed the characteristics of electrical and acoustical variations for loudspeaker due to fabrication processes. First, mass of each components of loudspeaker was measured by electric precision scale and performed statistical analysis. Second. Thiele-Small parameters of sample loudspeakers produced by unskilled students were identified by known mass parameter identification method using electrical impedance method and investigated on the variations of each parameter. Electrical impedance tests and acoustic frequency responses were measured on sample loudspeakers and variations were examined to grasp relationship between components variation and fabrication processes. Main factors to effect the changes of electrical impedance were concluded by fabrication processes errors not by components of loudspeaker.

  • The active components in a plant extract can be represented as mass profiles. We introduce here a new, multi-compound discovery method known as Scaling of Correlations between Activity and Mass Profiles (SCAMP). In this method, a correlation coefficient is used to quantify similarities between the extract activity and mass profiles. The method was evaluated by first measuring the anti-oxidation activity of eleven fractions of an Astragali Radix extract using DPPH assays. Next, 15 T Fouriertransform ion cyclotron resonance (FT-ICR) MS was employed to generate mass profiles of the eleven fractions. A comparison of correlation coefficients indicated two compounds at m/z 285.076 and 286.076 that were strong antioxidants. Principal component analyses of these profiles yielded the same result. FT-ICR MS, which offers a mass resolving power of 500,000, was used to discern isotopic fine structures and indicated that the molecular formula corresponding to the peak at m/z 285.076 was $C_{16}H_{13}O_5$. SCAMP in combination with high-resolution MS can be applied to any type of mixture to study pharmacological activity and is a powerful tool for active compound discovery in plant extract studies.

  • Recently, identification of modal parameters using the response only data has attracted considerable attention particularly where the classic modal testing methods is difficult to conduct. One drawback of the response only data, also known as Operational Modal Analysis (OMA), is that only the unscaled mode shapes can be obtained which restricts the applications of OMA. The Mass change method is a usual way to scale the operational mode shapes. In this article a new method is proposed to optimize the additive mass for scaling of the unscaled mode shapes from OMA for which a priori knowledge of the Finite Element model of structure is required. It is shown that the total error of the scaled mode shapes is minimized using the proposed method. The method is validated using a numerical case study of a beam. Moreover, the experimental results of a clamped-clamped beam demonstrate the applicability of the method.

  • The modeling and parameter estimation of a damped one-degree-of-freedom mass-spring system is examined. This paper presents a method for estimating the system parameters (damping coefficients and natural frequency) from measured free-vibration motion of a system that is modeled to include both subcritical viscous damping and kinetic Coulomb friction. The method applies a commercially available least-squares curve-fitting software function to fit the known solution of the equations of motion to the measured response. The method was tested through numerical simulation, and it was applied to experimental data collected from a laboratory mass-spring apparatus. The mass of this apparatus translates on linear bearings, which are the primary source of light inherent damping. Results indicate that the curve-fitting method is effective and accurate for both perfect and noisy measurements from a lightly damped mass-spring system.

  • Up to now, hybrid torque/position control of robot manipulator have been researched under the assumption that link mass and/or load are known. This paper proposes a torque and position control method under unknown mass of links or load of a robot manipulator and the method extend control in joint space to control in operational space. In the method, known parameters are used to estimate unknown parameter. We illustrate the theory with some simulations and show that the result is effective.

  • Proteoform diversity is greatly increased by glycosylation, the primary post-translational modification of proteins. Glycans, also known as oligosaccharides, are molecules that are essential to almost all living things. They can affect protein folding and functionality, modulate cell-cell interactions, and support the proliferation of numerous diseases when they are found on cell surfaces or bound to proteins. A thorough understanding of their fundamental structure is necessary to gain insight into their characteristics and functions. But a major obstacle is the structural intricacy of glycans by design. The stereochemistry and regiochemistry of carbohydrates vary and are frequently branched. Because of its superior sensitivity and the abundance of fragmentation information it can provide, mass spectrometry is now the method of choice for glycan and glycopeptide analysis. Differentiating between the structures of isomeric and isobaric glycopeptides, however, presents a difficulty for MS-based characterization. Ion mobility plus mass spectrometry (IM-MS) has become a very promising new method for glycan research in recent years. Recent developments in the growing discipline of glycosylation analysis utilizing IM-MS are outlined in this review, with a focus on the MS methodology and its ability to resolve isomeric glycans.

  • In this paper it was discussed and compared measured loudspeaker impedance curve with ones reconstructed by TS parameters estimated using four kinds of parameter estimation methods developed in frequency domain. Frequency dependent parameters were introduced and derived using least square error minimization technique. For known dynamic mass TS parameter estimation methods were reviewed and also proved non-uniqueness of these parameters by simulation method. Minimum phase transformation was adopted to derive phase information from magnitude of loudspeaker electrical impedance curve measured by one channel analyzer.

  • This paper presents a new idea to obtain moment of inertia values of an arbitrary shape body by applying inverse modal transformation technique. A multiaxes inertia pendulum apparatus was designed to measure 6 rigid body modes of a test body. A software was developed to calculate inertia properties as well as the location of center of gravity and total mass of the test body from the measured modal data. The developed method was applied to a simple body of which the inertia properties are known then the obtained values were compared with the known values.

  • Measurements of supermassive black hole (SMBH) masses are crucial in studying the co-evolution of SMBHs and their host galaxies. Although reverberation mapping is the most accurate method known to date, this requires spectroscopic monitoring over long periods. Thus, the current sample barely reaches three digits. The virial method, on the other hand, uses emission-line and continuum properties from a single spectrum to estimate the SMBH mass; hence the name single-epoch method. The Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) has observed spectra of almost all quasi-stellar objects (QSOs) discovered so far. Building on previous studies, using the single-epoch method, we estimate the SMBH masses of more than 500,000 QSOs from the SDSS DR14 Quasar Catalog. This increases the mass-estimated SMBH sample almost by a factor of two, and especially more for the low-mass regime, which was the main target of SDSS-IV (eBOSS).

  • In order to investigate the effect of liquid balancer in washing machine, we identify the vibration characteristics of suspension system of washing machine and formulate the 4 D. O. F. system dynamic equations. As the washing machine rotates higher speed, it is emphasized to reduce the ecentric force due to unbalanced mass. Nowadays, the most effective cancelling method of eccentric force is known as the usage of liquid balancer. To determine the liquid distribution in liquid balancer, the fluid statics is considered. The system dynamic equations are solved by Runge-Kutta method and represent the good characteristics of real washing machine in X-Y plane. The accuracy of the numerical solution was examined by experiments. The simulation results show that the unbalanced mass has so much influence on vibration magnitude and the rotating shape of spin-basket. But the effect of mass reduction due to the dehydration of the spin-basket has little influence on transient vibration.
