  • The demands for knowledge in the rapid social change and the competitive environment are being increased day by day. As to reflect the demands, much scholarly and practical work has been done on the topics of Knowledge Management (KM). However, the study of KM in nonprofit organizations (NPOs) is insufficient. This study, while discussing the nature of NPOs, which have the different purposes of existence and characteristics from for-profit organizations, has the purpose of finding out the special strategy for KM in NPOs. Through understanding the characteristics and the status of NPOs, this study suggests that that the interorganizational KM is the method to lead successful KM in NPOs. And the critical success factors (CSFs) are presented in the three major factors, such as the systematical, the interorganizational and internal consideration factor for organization. This not only provides the successful KM strategy of NPOs but also enlarges the understandings about interorganizational KM.

  • The management of enterprise knowledge has been increasingly important because knowledge emerges as the new basis of competition in postcapitalist society. One of the key issues in knowledge management is to put knowledge into a repository where it can be easily stored, reused, and recreated. This paper proposes a model repository and the corresponding knowledge management framework. The emphases of model repository is on abstraction knowledge in the form of schematic models. Two major benefits are model independence and model integration. A metaschema is constructed according to six conceptual components: separate unit, external link, internal link, separate unite descriptor, link descriptor, and composite descriptor, which can be applied for a variety of models. A prototype system with a case illustrates the practical usefulness of model repository for knowledge management.

  • Knowledge management system(KMS) was introduced into the company in order to apply knowledge management. But according to KMS is changed into information management system, the company is considered Community in Practice(CoP) instead of KMS. Because within CoP, individuals can interact with one another to solve problems, test new ideas, learn about new developments in their field and build a sense of affiliation with others in similar circumstances. In spite of it's importance there is few empirical study about CoP. So the purpose of this study is to examine which personal characteristics influence knowledge sharing and which context factors(including structural and relational characteristics) moderate relationship between individual characteristics and knowledge sharing within CoP through empirical study.

  • This review aims to synthesize social network theories by drawing on the importance of social network perspectives in understanding knowledge management with technology in organizations. I provide an overview of prior social network research with the following core ideas: the primacy of relations between organizational actors, the utility of actors' embeddedness in social fields, the social utility of network connections, and the structural patterning of social life. On top of that, I summarize critical social perspectives (the social capital theory, the structural hole theory, the embeddedness perspective, the social exchange theory, the organizational learning theory, and the innovation diffusion theory) to suggest potential research questions for future studies in social network research in the knowledge management discipline.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to identify correlations between how much fever management information mothers obtained from the internet and their actual knowledge and practices of fever management. Methods: This was a descriptive survey of 172 mothers with children aged between 0 and 3 attending five daycare centers located in the city of Daegu. Descriptive statistics, the independent t-test or one-way analysis of variance, and Pearson correlation coefficients were used for data analysis. Results: In total, 75% of the mothers had searched the internet for information on fever management. The overwhelming majority (92.2%) used information from the internet to help manage fever in their children. Positive correlations were found between acquiring fever management information from the internet and fever management practices (r=.18, p=.038), and between mother's knowledge and practices of fever management (r=.27, p<.001). Conclusion: Based on the results of this study, to improve fever management practices, it is necessary to increase mothers' knowledge. Therefore, resources should be developed to augment mothers' knowledge of fever management through the internet.

  • This study proposes the knowledge discovery process for the effective mining of knowledge on the web. The proposed knowledge discovery process uses the Prior knowledge base and the Prior knowledge management system to reflect tacit knowledge in addition to explicit knowledge. The prior knowledge management system constructs the prior knowledge base using a fuzzy cognitive map, and defines information to be extracted from the web. In addition, it transforms the extracted information into the form being handled in mining process. Experiments using case-based reasoning and neural network" are performed to verify the usefulness of the proposed model. The experimental results are encouraging and prove the usefulness of the proposed model.

  • Purpose - In this research, we investigate the relationship between the level of information technology utilization, social capital and knowledge management, organization performance. For information and knowledge management, participants' certain level of information technology utilization is required and connections among participants are necessary for performing and for synergy effects. Research design, data, and methodology - Reflecting on these, we empirically analyze the effects of participant's information technology utilization level and social capital on knowledge management and organization achievement for the case of Incheon International Airport. Questionnaire is distributed to the airport employees and collected 221 samples for analyzing. SPSS and AMOS statistic programs are used for analysis. Factor analysis, Credibility adaptability, path analysis, hypotheses are verified. Results - The study research shows as follow. First, the level of IT utilization does affect social capital but does not affect knowledge management. Second, social capital affects both knowledge management and organization achievement. To investigate more about the relationship between the level of IT utilization and knowledge management, we analyzed the control effects of personal characteristics, and findings are, first, employees with longer time service recognize the importance that the level of IT use and knowledge management affect organization achievement more seriously than employees with shorter time service do. Second, employees with shorter time service and younger employees have relatively lesser social capital and participate in knowledge management passively. Third, higher position employees think that the level of IT utilization affects knowledge management while lower position employees do not. Conclusions - The level of IT utilization affects social capital, and social capital affects knowledge management and organization achievement. These results suggest that the level of IT utilization is very important to both organization and each employee. So providing related training and education opportunities or incentives to induce employees to make efforts for higher level of IT utilization and thus to participate in knowledge management more actively is necessary. The level of IT utilization affects social capital which airport employees lack. The one of study results indicates the importance of social capital and for higher competitiveness of the airport social capital should be increased.
