  • This paper examined, using three indicators, urban area rate, urbanization rate and urban population density upon the status of urbanization since the 2000s in Southeast Asia. This study also carried out an empirical analysis on the effects of urbanization on economic growth using the Williamson's inverted U-shape hypothesis. In addition, this study calculated the thresholds by which urbanization starts to have positive effects on economic growth by using estimated coefficients, and comparatively analyzed each Southeast Asian country's status. The empirical analysis results opposite to the Williamson's hypothesis. This means that the hypothesis asserting that urbanization has positive effects on economic growth in a country with low economic development phase and income level, but that urbanization can have negative effects on economic growth, if a country's income level is beyond a certain level(threshold), is not supported in this study. In summary, the economies of agglomeration represented as localization economy and urbanization economy is realized to some degree in terms of urbanization in Southeast Asia. Also, urbanization in Southeast Asia has positive effects on economic growth through knowledge spillover, the active exchange of ideas and productivity improvement. In examining the meaning of Southeast Asia's urbanization, policy consideration needs to be conducted, and efforts should be made to maximize the positive effects of the economies of agglomeration and knowledge spillover on economic growth.

  • With the emergence of various types of social media and the diversification of their roles, it has become essential for marketers to understand how different types of social media influence consumers' purchase decisions differently and derive more detailed strategies by social media types. This study classifies social media into two types-expression-focused social media and relationship-focused social media-and investigates the relationship between consumer purchases and social media mentions by type. Using the Seoul bike-sharing data and time-series data for social media mentions, we apply the VAR model with Exogenous Variables (VARX). We find that the increase of product mentions in expression-focused social media positively affects both the number of new customers (customer acquisition) and the number of shared bike rentals, while that in relationship-focused social media negatively affects the number of new customers only. In addition, as new customers increase, the product mentions in both types of social media increase. On the other hand, the number of bike rentals has no significant effect in increasing social media mentions regardless of type. This study contributes to the social media and sharing economy literature and provides managerial implications for establishing sophisticated social media marketing in bike-sharing businesses.

  • In the telecommunications service industry, until now, it has been possible for Network Operators (NOs) to secure a competitive advantage to increase subscribers and profits through network investment. However, amid a big change to digital economy, network investment fails to lead to increase profits. These days platform companies without holing network infrastructure have a more competitive advantage and take more profits. This makes NOs gradually lose interest in network investment. The purpose of this paper is to find policy measures to promote network investment in digital economy. Specifically, we identify the factors influencing the network investment and promising policy measures energizing the investment, and then analyze their priorities and derive policy implications through Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Analytic Network Process (ANP). The results of this paper show that market competition is more preferred to public intervention in promoting network investment. However, in order to guarantee and expand the universal access to network, it is necessary to consider expanding the role of the public, focusing on non-economic areas.

  • The Republic of Korea in the real economy to a knowledge economy, and a center of creativity and imagination in the creative economy is changing the paradigm. As the core of creating economic, creative industries with the technology and information play an important role in the industry individuals. In order to solve the problem of the polarization of the economy and high youth unemployment rate of Korea, to recognize the role of the creative industries, as objection part, dimensions pan-national and one creative companies in industries of Mobile Apps various policies that support has been promoted. Support these policies to be able to contribute to the establishment of the success of mobile apps one-person creating company, we performed this study targeting one-person company that creates mobile apps area, we conducted a demonstration study of success factors, and thus more effective and efficient in an attempt to seek out support measures. In this study, we derive a research 4 hypothesis about the success factors of one creative enterprise through literature discussion, a study was made on the basis of empirical data of one-person company that creates mobile apps. The results of the analysis, first, if the development rate of the mobile application technology is fast and a new competition associated product is appeared, it was possible to find a tendency to be higher at the performance quantitative companies. Second, if the founder is a founding for the benefit and rewarding work and come to terms with the risk, it was possible to discover tends to be higher achievement quantitative. Third, if one-person company select a target market with capture intensively, it was possible to find a tendency for higher qualitative results. Fourth, it could be found that the reliability of the contact frequency of the network related performance business environment these characteristics enterprise management strategy and act as a significant modulatory effect. Provision of information relating to management and entrepreneurship education to be one creative enterprise is required, these results suggest that there is a provision continuing need for the opportunity to be able to meet and network and reliable variety have. • This study investigates the change of everyday's labor and leisure time in South Korea during the last two decades in which her economy has been changed from manufacturing-oriented industry to services or technology and knowledge-oriented industry. Generally speaking, the changing patterns of everyday's labor and leisure time in South Korea from 1981 to 2000 are very complex and dynamic. So it is very careful for us to simply assert the fact that everyday's labor time is decreased and everyday's leisure time is increased due to the deindustrialization of a capitalist country. Specifically, the changes of everyday's labor and leisure time in South Korea are varied in terms of socio-economic and spatial perspective. The labor time of all kinds of occupations has been increased at the weekday during the last two decades, but the leisure time of those except technical occupation has been decreased at the weekend. The socio-economy of South Korea after the 1990s became dependent on more educated workers than less ones. Also the more educated people work hard at the weekday, but they get more leisure time at the weekend. In terms of spatial perspectives, the South Korean economy has become dependent on the workers in cities, particularly large ones more than those in rural regions because of the rapidly established industrialization and urbanization after the early 1980s. The time of people's spatial movement is directly proportional to the levels of education both at the weekday and the weekend during the last two decades.

  • As the demand for a convergence between construction technologies and IT is on the rise, as seen in the visualization of U-City construction, studies on the ways in which IT in should be utilized in the building and construction field have been continuously and actively performed. However, there has been almost no development of standardized technology criteria relating to the life cycle of a building (planning, design, construction, and maintenance). That is, there are almost no examples of efforts made to combine construction technology and IT in a fundamental way, considering the environment, the facility, its spatial characteristics, engineering, materials, and structure, aspects that are commonly required not only for interior spaces but also for exterior construction of U-City. Despite the fact that a state-of-the-art infrastructure has been built, and the competency of users with the cutting-edge technology, composite studies on technologies, facilities, services and spaces are still lacking, and basic research on the composite operation method including compatibility and linkage between facilities and services within a U-City has been insufficient as well. It is generally known that by fusing IT with construction technologies, the total period of construction taken can be reduced and construction expenses can be curtailed, while construction quality can be improved. For this reason, it is vital to prepare a standardized base to connect cutting-edge IT with the construction technologies. In preparing such a base, the most urgent issue is to develop standardized technology criteria. The ultimate objective of this research is to establish the technological criteria system required to apply construction-IT fused technologies to U-Cities, and to develop the technological criteria for the design, construction and maintenance of the U-Cities. This paper, whose objective is to establish development strategies for construction-IT fused technologies by way of analyzing the criteria for conventional construction projects, the necessity of criteria for construction-IT fused technologies, and the current status of U-Cities' development, is the underlying research for this purpose. The strategies established are expected to be utilized in establishing the system of criteria for construction-IT fused technologies, and to contribute to a knowledge base in the construction-IT field. In addition, based on the strategies established, criteria for construction-IT fused technologies, such as design criteria and construction standards, will be developed, and by applying these criteria and standards, the ultimate objectives of U-Cities, which are the enhancement of urban competitiveness and the satisfaction of residents, will be attained

  • What has been the contribution of industrial innovation to economic growth? Typically, the issue has been approached with growth-accounting methods augmented to include a "stock of knowledge". An independent estimate of the rate of return to R&D is found in order to impute patents granted to the accumulation of knowledge. Griliches(1973) then uses a regression approach to assess the effect of an R&D variable on the computed TFP growth rate. The regression coefficient on the R&D variable would provide an estimate of the social rate of return to R&D. The related studies tend to show high social rates of return to R&D, typically in a range of 20 to 40 % per year. We need to provide multiple equation dynamic system for productivity and innovation in Korean economy in state space form. A wide range of time series models, including the classical linear regression model, can be written and estimated as special cases of a state space specification. State space models have been applied in the econometrics literature to model unobserved variables like productivity. Estimation produces the following results. Considering the goodness of fit, we can see that the evidence is strongly in favor of the range $0.120{\sim}0.135$ for the elasticity of TFP to R&D stock in the period between 1970's and the early 2000's.

  • Despite that Korea has tried 50 years of service development policies, the result has been unsatisfactory. Borrowing the policy stream model of policy change and narrative policy framework one tried to explain the weaknesses of the policy process for the service development policies. Before 2000 lacking knowledge resulted in poor policy narratives while after 2000 despite sufficient knowledge base and well articulated narratives policy window would not open. Adversarial politics under conservative party caused the window to be closed. One suggests that paradigm shift in value and world view treats is necessary to overcome the policy failures in service development policy. According these analyses one expects a new initiative of policy narrative construction.
