Thimerosal is a mercury-containing compound used in trace amounts to prevent bacteria and other organisms from contaminating vaccines, especially in opened multi-dose vials. The toxicity of mercury is well known and those most at risk are occurred in unborn and newborn babies.(omitted)

This paper was practiced insulation failure test forcing to accelerate on frequency of 420 HZ. There was manufactured generator stator windings for 500MVA thermal plants and selected accelerating deterioration voltage of 5.5kV/mm for electrical aging. Moreover, so as to verification of this experiments, we carried out modeling analysis due to finite element method using to ANSYS5.0 program for common package and imitated multi-stress aging for analyzing electrical and mechanical stress distribution.

Purpose: This study is aimed to search the lived experiences of the participants and to analyze the contents so that we can be assured about what the elderly wish and find the appropriate nursing intervention for them in real life. Method: This is based on a phenomenological approach. Participants of this study consist of people older than 65 years old. Data was collected from May to August in 2001. Data collection was done through in-depth interviews and observations. The time used in each interview was from 50 minutes to 2 hours. Each participant was interviewed three to five times. Giorgi's phenomenological analysis was used in data analysis. Result: The elder's wishes are 1) a respected life, 2) a happy life, 3) a peaceful life, 4) a independent life, 5) a financially independent life, 6) a satisfactory life, 7) a mind to depend on someone, 8) a serving life, 9) a historic family, 10) a happy-ending life. Conclusion: The study will contribute for the nursing intervention to enhance the quality of life and successful aging of the elderly.

This paper describes the open frame type high power density switching converter. It is based on active clamp forward converter with synchronous rectifier, and packaged by using the open frame and multi-layer printed circuit board (PCB) techniques to achieve the high power density. Furthermore, windings of transformer and inductor are also realized by multi-layer PCB so that it achieves the higher power density. Through the experiment on the proto-type converter of 50[W], it is confirmed that power density of $50[W/in^3]$ and maximum efficiency of over 91 [%] are obtained.

Solvatochromic fluorescence behavior of 8-aminoquinoline based benzothiazole derivative in varying solvent systems has been investigated. Benzothiazole appended 8-aminoquinoline 3 showed distinctive fluorescence color changes depending upon the solvent polarities and the fluorescence color changes occurred over relatively wide span in visible region from 486 nm to 598 nm which can be detected with naked eye. Compound 3 also exhibited significant spectral shifts in ${\lambda}_{em}$ as a function of water composition in binary aqueous solvent systems. The changes are due to the specific interaction of 3 by hydrogen bonding with water as well as general solvent effect. The observed solvatochromic fluorescence characteristics of 3 could be used as a new probe for the micro-environmental polarity changes as well as a sensitive sensor for the determination of water composition in binary aqueous solutions.

The purposes of the present study were to investigate the factors of consumer dissatisfaction with backpacks and to examine if the levels of dissatisfaction with the factors differ significantly among the groups determined by demographic characteristics and purchase behaviors. The differences in the purchase behaviors of backpacks were also tested among the groups determined by demographic characteristics. Data collection was consisted of two pilot tests and the final test. The questionnaire was distributed to 40 students of universities in Seoul from July 1 to 13 in 2000 and 351 were usable. Data were analyzed by factor analysis, t-test, χ²analysis, MANOVA, ANAOVA, Duncan's multiple range tests using SPSS PC/sup +/ Program. Five factors were formulated : durability, ease-of-care/color fastness, dimensional stability, wearability and design. Subjects were most dissatisfied with the dimensional stability of backpacks. Different demographic characteristics and purchase behaviors resulted in significantly different levels of dissatisfaction with selected factors. Significant differences were also found in selected selection criteria and purchase behaviors among groups determined by some demographic characteristics.

Alcohol drinking during pregnancy can result in abnormal fetal development including fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS). The molecular mechanisms of FAS, however, is not completely elucidated. In the present study, we evaluated the developmental toxicity of ethanol and its metabolite, acetaldehyde using post implantation whole embryo culture and determined changes of gene expression by ethanol treatment by cDNA microarray.(omitted)
