과학지식의 객관성에 관한 고찰: 마이클 폴라니의 인식론을 중심으로 (A Study on the Objectivity of Scientific Knowledge: Focused on Michael Polanyi's Epistemology)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 폴라니의 개인적 지식을 중심으로 과학지식의 객관성을 고찰하고, 이의 과학교육적 함의를 논의하는 것이다. 따라서 이론적 연구이며, 주로 문헌자료에 의존하였다. 현대 인식론은 지식의 객관성과 상대성에 대한 견해가 혼재해 있으며, 특히 과학교육의 문제를 해결하기 위해서는 지식의 객관성에 대한 재해석이 필요하다. 이에 과학지식의 객관성에 대한 과학철학자들의 견해를 살펴보고, 객관성을 주관성과 관련시켜 지식의 성격을 이해한 칸트, 왕양명, 키에르케고르의 사상을 교육과 관련지어 간단히 고찰하였다. 나아가 폴라니의 인식론을 중심으로 과학지식에의 개인적 관여 및 공동체적 성격을 살펴보았다. 그리고 개인적 지식에서 시사하는 과학교육적 함의를 논의하면서, 과학교육에 인간의 목소리가 회복되며, 지적 열정이 살아있도록, 과학자의 삶을 재연하는 과학교사의 필요성을 논의하였다.

  • This study researched the art-educational thoughts as a modern idea influenced with the social and philosophical transitions in the 19th century. Moreover, this study focused on Frank Lloyd Wright's educational thoughts, because those educational revolutions had appeared as one of the results that Western society's character was rapidly changed by those revolutions, so called, Industrial Revolution, American and French Revolution, and Cultural Revolution of Romanticism, from late 18th century, and eventually because that revolutionary educational ideas had closely and basically many relations with Wright's thought. As a result, even though Wright's education such an apprenticeship was a traditional shape, which was not the old-fashioned educational method discipling to the skillful man, but against the existing education through the self-learning from experiences in nature. That is similar to transcendentalists such as Emerson who searched for having an inspiration in Nature. Namely, Wright himself had struggled against the existing dualistic educational concepts through Wright's monistic thoughts on art-education including architecture based on not naturalism but the philosophy of nature by romantic idealistic philosophers such as Shelling, Fickle, Kant, Hegel including with his Master, Sullivan, and by revolutionary educators such as Freobel, Ruskin, Dewey, and above all by his Unitarian doctrine. However, Wright's thoughts was at that time so radical, and as Wright himself acknowledged that, 'because the philosophy back of it, of course, as you know, is midway I guess between East and West', such all philosophical objects to influence on Wright were so abstruse idea which is usually called 'Romantic' or 'Mystic' that is mingled with East's and West's essence. That is, because Wright himself catched that the theories and methods of the art-educational thoughts would not be easily perceived, and he judged that in a word as a character which could not be taught. After all, Wright's romantic progressivist art-educational thoughts have not been perceived, disseminated in general and widely.

소아정신의학 역사 속의 진단기준 발전과 현상학적 기술정신의학 (Descriptive Psychiatry and the Development of Diagnostic Criteria in the History of Child Psychiatry and Phenomenological Descriptive Psychiatry)

  • Phenomenology has been developed by philosophers like Kant and Husserl since the late 18th century. Jaspers, a German psychiatrist, adopted it into psychopathology studies and accumulated data by closely observing and recording the patients' symptoms and signs. Among descriptions done even before the psychopathology or diagnostic criteria of disorders in the field of child psychiatry was established, we can find exact and valuable descriptions matching the autism spectrum disorder or attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder. The diagnostic criteria of modern childhood psychiatric disorders were established based on these grounds. Phenomenological/descriptive methods in various psychiatric fields lead to medical study methods for social phenomenon such as oiettolie, hikikomori, and internet game addiction. Since Romanian orphans were adopted to the western world, descriptive studies along with neurobiological studies on the influence of stimulus deprivation on emotional and physical development are being conducted. While phenomenology, which was adopted by Jaspers to verify psychopathology, was developed mainly by observation and description, recent studies are explaining such descriptive phenomena even at the synapse level due to advances in neurobiology. Although phenomenological/descriptive psychiatry, describing precise and detailed experiences of patients, is less applied nowadays among modern study methods, we must remember that such descriptions may lead to biological studies and provide evidence to improve the accuracy of choosing and applying treatment methods.

네덜란드 RE;USE 디자인의 창발성과 변증적 사유방식 (The Emergent Properties and Dialectic way of thinking of the Dutch RE;USE Design)

  • This is a study on the application of a dialectic way of thinking in terms of design methods, and has contents about the formation of new visual and the ways of process that are triggered by cognitive introspection. A ccordingly, the study has its purposes in interpretation and recommendation of new methodological systems around dialectic principles and ways of thinking on the works of the Dutch Architecture Exhibition carried out in Korea in 2013, with the theme of "Reuse" among the aspects expanding since the reflexive modernization. Firstly, the basic features of Dutch designs were connected to dialectic ways of thinking. After studying the basic concepts of dialectics from Greek philosophies to Kant, Hegel, Marx and Benjamin, the aspects of applying them onto creative works such as art, architecture and design were methodologically systematized. Through this process, it was confirmed that the existing concepts are newly rearranged rationally, logically and scientifically based on dialectic ways of thinking rather than subjectively or emotionally. From the study of the 12 art works, it was confirmed that the value of use and potential obstacles have been used as a design solution. Also, the process which is juxtaposed with the result by itself has been expressed and causes the alienation effect. Therefore, such dialectic ways of thinking was organized into a procedural flow of contradictory recognition on situations, drive due to negativity, mutual penetration, mutual transformation, abstraction, verbalizing and creation of new concepts, and it was confirmed that such finding was valid in securing creative possibilities as 'New Uses' rather than 'Re-uses'.

고딕소설 속에 나타난 숭고미의 표현 - 윌리엄 포크너의 『에밀리를 위한 장미』를 중심으로 (The Expression of Sublime in Gothic Novel - William Faulkner's A Rose for Emily)

  • 우리는 무엇인가를 보고 아름답다고 말하는 것은 익숙하지만 숭고하다는 표현은 자주 사용하지 않는다. 사실 아름답다는 것과 숭고하다는 것은 다른 의미이며 숭고의 대상은 따로 존재한다. 숭고론은 롱기누스를 시작으로 버크, 칸트에 이르기 까지 개념과 대상에 대한 깊이 있는 연구가 이루어져왔다. 이들의 연구에 따르면, 우리는 공포의 대상으로부터 숭고미를 느낄 수 있는데 그것은 공포감 속에 숭고함이 내재되어 있기 때문이다. 이에 본 연구는 고딕소설로 분류되는 "에밀리를 위한 장미"에 표현된 숭고미를 고찰해보았다. 작품 속에 묘사된 에밀리의 칙칙한 철회색 머리카락과 붉은 피를 상징하는 빨간 장미, 그리고 그녀의 검은 옷은 어둡고 엄숙한 분위기의 숭고미를 표현하며, 떠난 호머를 기다리고 그리워하는 에밀리의 모습, 마지막으로 숨진 채 누워있는 호머의 모습 자체는 공포의 분위기를 일으킴과 동시에 비극적 숭고함을 보여준다. 고딕소설 뿐 아니라 모든 문학 장르에서 숭고함의 표현은 찾아볼 수 있으므로, 앞으로 여러 문학 분야에서 숭고미에 대한 연구와 분석이 이루어질 것이다.

The Ethics of the Othering in the Era of Transnationalism

  • The space of the Other assumes the space of Barthes's multiplicity and Foucault's transdiscursive position, and, therefore, aims at becoming the locus in which the speaking subject and the hearing subjects are supposed to communicate and constitute as if they were situated in the pscychoanalytic session. However, the wall of untranslatibility across language and cultures still exist there in the space of the Other in the form of trauma and aggressivity, as Lacan demonstrate perceptively through the reading of Kant avec Sade. In short, Lacan regards the moral commandment (to love one's neighbor as oneself) as the obstacle in the Freud's myth of transgression, and interprets this in terms of the emergence of the Other. Freud understands that the aggressivity in the subject's own heart was inherent in all humans, and that one's neighbor would be evil. Lacan goes beyond Freud and articulates that the aggressivity in the imaginary relation with the Other in the mirror stage insures that an evil inheres in the very being of humanity. A global phenomenon of the diasporic identities and hybridity, the phenomenon which has been represented by the complicated intermixture of terms which span from diaspora, postcolonialism, postnationalism. and transnationalism can be clarified, if they are put in the context of the ethics of Othering or becoming the Other. The ethics of Othering presupposes the situation in which the diasporic subjects encounter the lack of the cross-cultural negotiation and communication. The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate how the poetics of Other and the logic of the ethics of Othering can explain the postmodern or transmodern world which has become deterritorialized, diasporic, and transnational as well as how one can encounter the results of diasporic and postcolonial double consciousness, a consciousness which is a discursive category for multicultural or cross-cultural, focusing on the concept of liminality/interstitiality

초기 낭만주의와 무한한 접근의 철학 (Philosophie der unendlichen Annäherung)

  • 이 논문은 초기 낭만주의 철학의 생성을 당대의 칸트 비판과 연관하여 살펴보고, 초기 낭만주의 철학의 토대를 구축한 야코비의 사상을 그의 "무제약자"와 "감정" 개념을 중심으로 재구성한 다음, "무한한 접근"을 강조하는 초기 낭만주의 철학의 특정을 노발리스를 통해 규명하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 야코비에게 무제약자는 지식의 가능근거이자 지식의 매개를 벗어나는 것이므로 "믿음"으로 간주된다. 무제약자는 지식의 조건이지만 의식의 영역을 초월하는 "존재"이다, 그러므로 야코비의 "무제약자" 내지 "근원-존재"는 칸트의 이원론을 극복하는 형이상학적 일원론의 토대이며 지식의 영역으로 환원되지 않는 실재론적 바탕이다. 노발리스에게 무제약자는 인간에게 주어져 있는 것이 아니며 동경과 노력의 대상이다. 여기서 철학은 무제약자를 향한 영원한 접근이 된다. 철학은 초월자와 접촉하는 감정의 근원적인 활동이며 근거를 인식하려는 끝없는 충동이다.

헤겔의 법철학과 공동체주의 - 도덕성과 인륜성을 중심으로 - (Hegel's Philosophy of Law and Communitarianism - Focusing on Morality and Ethics -)

  • 본 논문은 서구에서 1990년대부터 활발하게 논의되었던 공동체주의와 자유주의의 논쟁을 헤겔 "법철학"의 도덕성과 인륜성의 개념을 중심으로 우리 한국사회의 정치현실과 연관시켜 살펴보고자 한다. 특히 본 논문은 공동체주의를 헤겔의 입장에서 재조명하고자 한다. 헤겔은 "법철학"에서 공동체를 근대의 윤리적-정치적 질서체계를 세우기 위한 근본적인 의미로서 파악하였다. 여기서 헤겔은 칸트의 도덕성을 수용하여 법과 국가의 개념을 근본적으로 다시 규명하였다. 필자는 이 논쟁의 광범위한 영역을 헤겔의 도덕성과 인륜성에 대해 한정하여 논의해 보고, 결론부분에서 우리 한국의 정치 현실상황을 반성적 성찰의 기회로 삼고자 한다.

한스 켈젠의 자연법 무용론에 대한 비판적 논의 (A Critical Study in Hans Kelsen's Arguments against Theory of Natural Law)

  • 이 논문의 목적은 법실증주의의 대표적인 인물인 한스 켈젠의 자연법론 비판을 소개하고, 이 비판이 안고 있는 몇 가지 문제점을 적시하는 데 있다. 켈젠의 자연법론 비판의 핵심은 모든 자연법이 존재에서 당위를 연역하는 심각한 오류를 범하고 있다는 것이다. 여기에 대하여 본 논문은 켈젠의 시각이 지나치게 편협하다는 것을 보여주고, 그가 법실증주의라는 진중(陣中) 논리에 지나치게 경도되어 있다는 점을 보여주고자 한다. 첫째, 켈젠은 여러 가지 논리적 오류를 범하고 있다는 점을 보여준다. 둘째, 그가 말하는 자연은 오직 자연과학의 대상이 되는 자연이다. 따라서 자연에 대한 개념을 너무 좁히는 잘못을 범하고 있다는 점을 보여주고자 한다. 셋째, 모든 자연법론자들은 자연, 즉 존재로부터 당위를 연역하는 오류를 범하고 있다는 켈젠 비판의 논리적 편협성을 지적하고자 한다. 넷째, 자연법론자들은 모두 자연법 체계를 연역적으로 도출한다고 켈젠은 주장한다. 그러나 켈젠의 이런 주장은 소수의 자연법론자들에게 만 타당하다. 마지막으로, 켈젠의 비판을 벗어날 수 있는 건전한 자연법론으로서 칸트의 자연법론과 마리땡의 자연법론을 짤막하게 소개하고자 한다. 그리고 이들의 자연법론의 건전성을 부각시키고자 한다.

Purification and Characterization of Metalloprotease from Serratia marcescens PPB-26 and Its Application for Detergent Additive

  • In this study, the extracellular metalloprotease from Serratia marcescens PPB-26 was purified to homogeneity via ethanol fractionation and DEAE-cellulose column chromatography. Thus, a 3.8-fold purification was achieved with a 20% yield and specific activity of 76.2 U/mg. The purified protease was a 50-kDa monomer whose optimum pH and temperature for activity were 7.5 and $30^{\circ}C$ respectively; however, it was found to remain active in the 5-9 pH range and up to $40^{\circ}C$ for 6 h. The protease had a half-life of 15 days at $4^{\circ}C$, an optimum reaction time of 10 min, and an optimum substrate (casein) concentration of 0.25%. Furthermore, the Michaelis constant ($K_m$) and reaction velocity ($V_{max}$) of the protease were calculated to be 0.28% and $111.11{\mu}moles/(min{\cdot}mg)^{-1}$, respectively. The protease was stable when subjected to metal ions (2 mM), showing increased activity with most (especially $CoCl_2$ and $MgSO_4$ (30.54% increase)). It was also stable when exposed to oxidizing agents, bleaching agents, and detergents (5% v/v for 60 min). It retained 93% of its activity in non-ionic detergents (Tween-20, Tween-80, and Triton X-100). Moreover, wash performance analysis in commercial detergents (Ariel and Tide) showed that not only was the protease capable of protein stain removal, but also reduced cleaning time by 80% when added to detergents. Thus, the Serratia marcescens PPB-26 metalloprotease appears to be a promising new candidate as a laundry additive in the detergent industry.
