Optimization of a Systolic Array BCH encoder with Tree-Type Structure

  • BCH code is one of the most widely used error correcting code for the detection and correction of random errors in the modern digital communication systems. The conventional BCH encoder that is operated in bit-serial manner cannot adequate with the recent high speed appliances. Therefore, parallel encoding algorithms are always a necessity. In this paper, we introduced a new systolic array type BCH parallel encoder. To study the area and speed, several parallel factors of the systolic array encoder is compared. Furthermore, to prove the efficiency of the proposed algorithm using tree-type structure, the throughput and the area overhead was compared with its counterparts also. The proposed BCH encoder has a great flexibility in parallelization and the speed was increased by 40% than the original one. The results were implemented on synthesis and simulation on FPGA using VHDL.

  • In this study 'forest design in waterside unused land' of 'waterside area' in the specificity that multilateral, including landscape, recreation, social and environmental aspects in the space, taking into account by multiple factors :Raise 'practicality' than a functional management and police to hang out with, each element is usually way to improve the beauty. There is currently carried out waterside green area creation, which is artificial plantation and open spaces only emphasizing 'landscape' with lacking multi-function purpose, as a 'forest design in waterside unused land' strategy but it should be lowered by performance in this strategy. And the study suggested a strategy which prepared cultural and social infrastructure to be able to attract different fund and build local character as an alternative demand plan considered environmental character as a top priority.

국지성 집중호우로 인한 인제군 산사태 발생 특성 및 원인 분석 (Analyses of Characteristics and Causes of Landslides due to Locally Concentrated Heavy Rainfall in Inje Area)

  • This paper is results of analyzing causes of damage and rainfall characteristics to investigate characteristics of landslide occurrence and its causes at Inje area in Gangwondo around July in 2006 through collection of related data, literature review and field reconnaissance. From results of analyzing the geometrical characteristics of landslide slope, the slope width of showing the most probable frequency were in the range of 10~50m and the most frequent slope angle was in the range of $30{\sim}40^{\circ}$. The most probable elevation of slope was 200~300m. For the slope direction of landslides, the most frequent directions were NW and SE.

디지털 방송에서 HDTV 필수 부가영역 (HDTV Essential Padding Area in Digital Broadcasting)

  • HD padding area is essential redundancy in HD broadcasting. It is possible to use this padding area for the purpose of improving DTV broadcasting services. For utilization of this area, The bit of a service data was converted to black and white $8{\times}8$ block image. Converted block images are compressed with active video and are delivered to a receiver as only DC coefficients in a video stream. video quality is not effected by the proposed method, and service data was perfectly recovered in receiver without errors by using block average and threshold. The proposed utilization of HD essential padding area can possibly overcome the limited transmission stream rate with the bandwidth of HD broadcasting. If service data in transport or video stram were transferred using this padding area, it is possible to improve video quality with expanded video stream rate. Additionally, because the proposed methods are based on well-established standards, it is also useful for world-wide HD broadcasting systems such as ATSC, DVB, and IPTV.

Comparative Analysis of Digital Elevation Models between AW3D30, SRTM30 and Airborne LiDAR: A Case of Chuncheon, South Korea

  • DEM (Digital Elevation Model) is a useful dataset which represents the earth surface. Beside many applications, production and frequent update of DEM is a costly task. Recently global satellite based DEMs are available which has huge potential for application. To check the accuracy, this study compares two global DEMs: AW3D30 (Advanced Land Observing Satellite World 3D 30m) and SRTM30 (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission Global 30m) with reference resampled LiDAR DEM 30m in a test area around Chuncheon, Korea. The comparison analysis was based on statistics of each DEM, their difference, profiles, slope, basin and stream orders. As a result, it is found that SRTM30 and AW3D30 were much similar but inconsistent in the test area compared to the LiDAR30 DEM. In addition, SRTM30 shows less difference with LiDAR30 compared to the AW3D30 DEM. But, DEMs should be very carefully examined for area which has temporal or season changes. For basin and stream analysis, global DEMs can be used only for regional scale analysis not local large scales.

과수방제기 살포입자의 도포율 분포특성 (Coverage Distribution of Blasted Droplets by an Orchard Sprayer)

  • Uniform application of agri-chemicals will improve orchard pest management. An air-blast(orchard) sprayer designed for vineyards has been used: however, few research on the uniformity and coverage of the sprays has been reported. Distributions of spray coverage were measured with artificial targets and analyzed to enhance the efficiency of spray application. A structure was built to place water sensitive papers, sampling spray droplets blasted from the orchard sprayer. The sampling cards were collected from five directions at three distances (2.5, 3.0 and 3.5m) for two fan speeds (2,075 and 3,031 rpm), and analyzed using an image analysis system. The distribution of the coverage percent area did not follow the wind velocity pattern. The coverage by the low fan speed was more uniform and higher than that by the higher fan speed. The coverage percent area decreased with an increase of distance. The distribution of droplet density was similar to that of coverage. However, the coverage contribution by smaller droplets became more significant as the distance increased. The upward blasting distance was limited within 3m, but the limit to the ground level was expanded the distance more than 3.5m because of the concentrated droplets.

고냉지에서의 옥수수 추비시기가 생산성에 미치는 영향 (Effect of the Top Dressing Time on Productivity at Alpine Area)

  • 본 시험은 고랭지(해발 800m)에서 매초용 옥수수의 추비시기가 생육 및 건물생산에 미치는 영향을 구명코자 수원19호와 강원재래백을 공시하여 198년年 5월 16일에 국럽종축원 대관령지원 시험포장에서 시험을 실시힌바 그 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다 추비시용 시기의 조만에 따라 작물생육특성인 초장, 웅수의 출현기, 경의 직경, 착수고등의 변화는 거의 없였으며 lOa당 건물수량 및 식물체부 위별 건물수량비솔에 있어서도 처리간에 큰 차이가 인정되지 않았다. 품종간에 있어서 강원재래백이 건물수량 및 경엽수량비솔이 수원19호보다 많은데 대하여 이삭의 비율은 수원19호가 더 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 시험결과로 보아 해발 800m의 고랭지에서 매초용 옥수수를 재배할 경우 추비시용시기간 차이는 크지 않은 것으로 사료된다.

KOMPSAT-2/3 위성을 활용한 강원도 인제군 소양강 상류지역의 가뭄 모니터링 (Monitoring of the Drought in the Upstream Area of Soyang River, Inje-Gun, Kangwon-do Using KOMPSAT-2/3 Satellite)

  • 우리나라는 여름철에 강수량이 집중되고, 지하수 유출량이 크기 때문에 가뭄에 취약한 지형을 가지고 있다. 이러한 가뭄을 판단하기 위해서 정량화된 가뭄지수가 사용되고 있다. 이 중에서 주로 강수량을 분석한 가뭄지수가 많이 사용되고 있으며, 최근에는 인공위성 영상을 활용하여 가뭄을 모니터링하는 연구가 진행되었다. 이에 이 연구에서는 소양강 상류지역의 가뭄 모니터링을 위하여 KOMPSAT-2/3 영상을 이용하여 수계면적을 산출하고 가뭄지수와의 비교 분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 인공위성영상에서 산출된 수계면적 변화의 경향성과 가뭄지수와의 경향성이 비슷하게 나타남을 확인하였다. 추후 이 연구는 가뭄을 판단하기 위한 근거로 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

밀랍도포한지의 탈랍을 위한 최적 유기용매 추출기법 탐색 (Optimal Organic Solvent Extraction Method for Dewaxing of Beeswax-treated Hanji)

  • In this study, the beeswax extraction methods using organic solvents were examined to develop a optimal dewaxing technology for beeswax-treated Hanji. Thermally-aged beeswax-treated Hanji was dewaxed using four types of extraction methods including dipping, Soxhlet extraction, ultrasonic washing and shaking methods. Then, the aging stability of the dewaxed Hanji was evaluated in terms of variations in paper strength and in the color of the printed area with muk. The experimental results suggested that the dewaxing methods allowing solvent to flow during extraction showed superior extraction efficiency. The dipping method in which the organic solvent does not flow showed the slowest extraction rate of beeswax compared to three other methods. In terms of variations in tensile strength and folding endurance, however, no obvious differences in the aging stability were observed amongst these four extraction methods. Regarding the aging stability in terms of the color of the printed area with muk, Soxhlet extraction method showed the best performance of dewaxing.

Evaluating the Effect of Jellyfish Chips on the Survival and Growth of Pinus thunbergii Seedlings Planted in a Coastal Area of Ehime Prefecture, Japan

  • This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of jellyfish chips in promoting the survival and growth of Pinus thunbergii seedlings in a coastal area based on a five-year field investigation from 2012 to 2016. Seedling survival rate was significantly higher in the treatment (96%) than in the control (75%) group in 2012. Furthermore, the height of five-year-old seedlings after plantation in 2012 was significantly greater in the treatment (3.41 m) than in the control (2.32 m) group (t=10.151; p-value<0.01). These results revealed that jellyfish chips can improve soil condition by enhancing moisture retention during the early growth stages and supplying nutrients to the seedlings over time. Our findings indicated that jellyfish chips could be used effectively as an organic fertilizer for growing coastal disaster prevention forests.
