Prediction and analysis of structural noise of a box girder using hybrid FE-SEA method

  • With the rapid development of rail transit, rail transit noise needs to be paid more and more attention. In order to accurately and effectively analyze the characteristics of low-frequency noise, a prediction model of vibration of box girder was established based on the hybrid FE-SEA method. When the train speed is 140 km/h, 200 km/h and 250 km/h, the vibration and noise of the box girder induced by the vertical wheel-rail interaction in the frequency range of 20-500 Hz are analyzed. Detailed analysis of the energy level, sound pressure contribution, modal analysis and vibration loss power of each slab at the operating speed of 140 km /h. The results show that: (1) When the train runs at a speed of 140km/h, the roof contributes more to the sound pressure at the far sound field point. Analyzing the frequency range from 20 to 500 Hz: The top plate plays a very important role in controlling sound pressure, contributing up to 70% of the sound pressure at peak frequencies. (2) When the train is traveling at various speeds, the maximum amplitude of structural vibration and noise generated by the viaduct occurs at 50 Hz. The vibration acceleration of the box beam at the far field point and near field point is mainly concentrated in the frequency range of 31.5-100 Hz, which is consistent with the dominant frequency band of wheel-rail force. Therefore, the main frequency of reducing the vibration and noise of the box beam is 31.5-100 Hz. A Study on the Effective Use of Long-Baseline Kinematic Surveying by GPS (GPS에 의한 장기선 이동측량의 효율성 검토)

  • Kinematic GPS surveying which can be obtained many three-dimensional topographical informations through a short-time measurement is being utilized mainly in the short base line of a few km and below The coordinate for the long base line depends on Static GPS surveying But it needs long time measurement. Therefore, the method which can decide a position of the long base line for a short time is being needed. To examine a possibility of an efficient use of kinematic GPS surveying of the long base line, this research has analysed an accuracy of the base line by static GPS surveying according to baseline distance, ephmeris, and observation time. As the results of research, I could see that accuracy was very low in case of the occurrence of cycle slip. When we use of precise ephmeris, we obtained 1ppm and less of accuracy with one-minute kinematic GPS surveying within 70km. If a lot of studies about the long baseline kinematic GPS surveying are processed, a topographical information necessary for each kind of construction field including land development could be utilized more efficiently.

Highly Birefringent and Dispersion Compensating Photonic Crystal Fiber Based on Double Line Defect Core

  • We propose a highly birefringent and dispersion compensating photonic crystal fiber based on a double line defect core. Using a finite element method (FEM) with a perfectly matched layer (PML), it is demonstrated that it is possible to obtain broadband large negative dispersion of about -400 to -427 ps/(nm.km) covering all optical communication bands (from O to U band) and to achieve the dispersion coefficient of -425 ps/(nm.km) at 1.55μm. In addition, the highest birefringence of the proposed PCF at 1.55 μm is 1.92 × 10-2 and the value of birefringence from the wavelength of 1.26 to 1.8 μm (covering O to U bands) is about 1.8 × 10-2 to 1.92 × 10-2. It is confirmed that from the simulation results, the confinement loss of the proposed PCF is always less than 10-3 dB/km at 1.55 μm with seven fiber rings of air holes in the cladding.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop a noise reduction device installed at the top of noise barrier for further decreasing of noise level of 400 km/h class high-speed railroad. For this, the frequency spectrum of 400 km/h class high-speed railroad was analyzed through the field noise test, and the tuning frequency was determined to design a noise reduction device. The noise reduction device was designed to have noise reduction performance of at least 3 dB(A) using the prediction method(2D BEM) and through the laboratory test with the prototype. Finally, the outdoor test showed that this device could decrease noise level of 400 km/h class high-speed railroad even more than 3 dB(A).

Trends in Tongue Color and Heart Rate Variability in Chronic Dyspepsia Patients (만성 소화불량증 환자에서 설 색상과 심박변이도의 경향성 파악)

  • Objectives From observing the tongue of a patient, one can assess the health status; this method has been frequently used in traditional Korean Medicine (KM) clinics. In particular, KM posits that the color of the tongue is highly related to digestive functions. In this study, the color of tongue and heart rate variability (HRV) were compared between chronic dyspepsia (CD) patients and healthy subjects. Methods Healthy subjects and CD patients with functional dyspepsia (FD), gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), or chronic gastritis (CG) were enrolled for the study. Profile view images of the tongue were acquired by using a computerized tongue image acquisition system (CTIS). The color of the tongue body was extracted from the non-coated region on the tongue images. Results Color differences in CIE L*a*b* color space between the three sub-types of CD patients and healthy subjects were analyzed by using multiple linear regression analysis with age and sex as the factors. The variable b* was significantly lower in GERD patients than in the controls (p=0.017). Variable a* was significantly lower in CG than in the controls (p=0.03). No significant difference was seen between FD and controls. In GERD, the tongue body seems to be intense red in color; in CG, pale red. Frequency domain analysis showed that HF was significantly lower in GERD patients than in the controls (p=0.041). Conclusions The color of the tongue body and HF of HRV can be used for diagnosing digestive functions in health care.

  • Smartwork will gradually move from the routine job to the knowledge based job. Therefore, supporting the personal level knowledge activities and the organizational level KM(Knowledge Management) will have a critical effect on the organizational performance. The purpose of this research is to develop strategies that revitalize the knowledge management for organizations that are trying to implement smartwork under such context. First of all, through the research results reviewed from areas such as current teleworking, telecommuting, mobile working and virtual organization, we identify the characteristics of the knowledge management for smartwork. And then, we develop and propose KM strategy that would supplement the existing knowledge management method and techniques in the smartwork environment. Academically, this paper emphasizes the further research needs about KM in terms of smart work. Operationally, it outlines and guides to the KM strategies for the government and enterprise planners that are designing smartwork.

Theoretical investigation on vibration frequency of sandwich plate with PFRC core and piezomagnetic face sheets under variable in-plane load

  • This research investigated the vibration frequency of sandwich plate made of piezoelectric fiber reinforced composite core (PFRC) and face sheets of piezomagnetic materials. The effective electroelastic constants for PFRC materials are obtained by the micromechanical approach. The resting medium of sandwich plate is modeled by Pasternak foundation including normal and shear modulus. Besides, sandwich plate is subjected to linearly varying normal stresses that change by load factor. The coupled equations of motion are derived using first order shear deformation theory (FSDT) and energy method. These equations are solved by differential quadrature method (DQM) for simply supported boundary condition. A detailed numerical study is carried out based on piezoelectricity theory to indicate the significant effect of load factor, volume fraction of fibers, modulus of elastic foundation, core-to-face sheet thickness ratio and composite materials on dimensionless frequency of sandwich plate. These findings can be used to aerospace, building and automotive industries.

Analysis of Baseline Accuracy by GPS Relative Positioning (GPS 상대측위에 의한 기선 정확도 분석)

  • As the exact geographical information has been nowadays required for effective developing and using of national land, in the country, there has been interested in using of GPS, and its practical use is expected. Various kinds of fundamental research for practical use of GPS is being accomplished. In this study, a test was carried out over 9 stations with baseline of the range of 1.5 to 210km, and the accuracy of baseline length by GPS relative positioning was variously considered. As result of this study, using a GPS receiving L1 frequency only, baseline accuracy for 2 hour observation was of the order of 0.3ppm for the 10km, and for I hour was below 1ppm. Using a GPS receiving dual frequency(L1/L2), baseline accuracy was of the order of 0.3ppm for the 100km to 200km as 3 hour observation using double difference methods by carrier phase. With basic on the result of this study, when observation and baseline processing are proceeded by the selected optimum observation time and using of baseline processing method, we can expect that geographical information will be acquired effectively.

Seismic Studies on Ground Motion using the Multicomponent Complex Trace Analysis Method (다성분 복소 트레이스 분석법을 이용한 지진파 입자운동 연구)

  • In order to investigate in-line ground motions caused by earthquakes, we examine the multicomponent complex trace analysis method (MCTAM) for the synthetic data and apply it to real earthquake data. An experimental result for synthetic data gives correct information on the arrival times, duration of individual phases, and approaching angles for body waves. Rayleigh waves are also easily identified with the MCTAM. A deep earthquake with magnitude of 7.3 was chosen to test various polarization attributes of ground motions. For P waves, instantaneous phase difference between the vertical and the in-line horizontal components ${\phi}(t)$, instantaneous reciprocal ellipticity ${\rho}(t)$, and approaching angle ${\tau}(t)$ are computed to be ${\pm}180^{\circ},\;0{\sim}0.25,\;and\;-30^{\circ}{\sim}-45^{\circ}$, respectively. For S waves, ${\phi}(t)$ tends to vary while ${\rho}(t)$ have values of $0{\sim}0.3\;and\;{\tau}(t)$ remains near vertical, respectively. A relatively low frequency signal registered just prior to the S wave event is interpreted as a P-wave phase based on its polarization characteristics. Velocities of P and S waves are computed to be 8.633 km/s and 4.762 km/s, and their raypath parameters 0.074 s/km and 0.197 s/km. Dynamic Poisson's ratio is obtained as 0.281 from the velocities of P and S waves.

Prediction Method for Road Traffic Noise (도로교통소음 예측방법에 관한 연구)

  • This study is aimed to show that revised prediction method in road traffic noise after comparing prediction method of National Institute of Environmental Research with that of the Acoustical Society of Japan. For this purpose, prediction equation and caluation procedure of each case was programmized and data predicted by each method were compared with those measured in the 14 fields. The result show that data predicted by 14 fields. The result show that data predicted by the method proposed in this study were closer to the data measured in the fields than those predicted by National Institute of Environmental Research and the Acoustical Society of Japan in the surroundings of urban express way (include highway) and general traffic road where the vehicle speed is higher than 40km/h.
