The recovery of stainless steel fiber by removing cutting oil from grinding swarf, which is classified as specified wastes, was investigated. Swarf loaded with grinding oil was regenerated by supercritical carbon dioxide. And, the effects of temperature(313.15K-323.15K), pressure(10MPa-30MPa) on regeneration efficiency were studied. Regeneration effiency was increased as the pressure was increased. Also, at the same pressure, the experiments at higher temperature were more efficient for regeneration. The experiment results was predicted by applying a one-parameter mathematical model assuming linear desorption kinetics. The predicted value showed good agreement with experimental data.

The cure kinetics of blends of epoxy(tetraglycidyl-4,4'-diaminodiphenylmethane ; TGDDM)/curing agent(diaminodiphenyl sulfone ; DDS) resin with amine terminated polyetherimide-CTBN-amine terminated polyetherimide triblock copolymer(ABA) were studied using differential scanning calorimetry under isothermal conditions to determine the reaction parameters such as activation energy and reaction constants. By increasing the amount of ABA in the blends, the final cure conversion was decreased. Lower values of the final cure conversions in the epoxy/ABA blends indicated that ABA hinders the cure reaction between the epoxy and curing agents. 1be value of the reaction order, m, for the initial autocatlytic reaction was not affected by blending ABA with epoxy resin, and the value was approximately 1.0. The value of n for the nth order component in the autocatalytic analysis was increased by increasing the amount of ABA in the blends, and the value increased from 2.0-3.4. A diffusion controlled reaction was observed as the cure conversion increased and the rate equation was successfully analyzed by incorporating the diffusion control term for the epoxy/DDS/ABA blends.

Biosorption of methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solution was studied with respect to the point of zero charge of coconut husk, dye concentration, particle size, pH, temperature, as well as adsorbent and NaCl concentration using coconut husk biomass. Amongst Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherms studied, Langmuir adsorption isotherm showed better agreement. Pseudo second order kinetics model was found to be more suitable for data presentation as compared to pseudo first order kinetics model. Also, involvement of diffusion process was studied using intraparticle diffusion, external mass transfer and Boyd kinetic model. Involvement of intraparticle diffusion model was found to be more relevant (prominent) as compared to external mass transfer (in) for methylene blue biosorption by the coconut husk. Moreover, thermodynamic properties of MB biosorption by coconut husk were studied. Desorption of methylene blue from biomass was studied with different desorbing agents, and the highest desorption achieved was as low as 7.18% with acetone, which indicate stable immobilization. Under the experimental conditions MB sorption was not significantly affected by pH, temperature and adsorbent concentration but low sorption was observed at higher NaCl concentrations.
We have studied the polymerization kinetics of acrylamide in aqueous solution with potassium persulfate as an initiator by using quantitative real-time in situ IR spectroscopy and monitoring the profiles of peaks in the range 1900-850 cm$\^$-1/. The conversion of acrylamide was calculated from the disappearance of the peak at 988 cm$\^$-1/, which is the out-of-plane bending mode of the=C-H unit, normalized to the C=O stretching peak at 1675 cm$\^$-1/, as an internal standard. For reaction temperatures in the range 40-65$^{\circ}C$ and initiator and monomer concentrations of 0.9-2.6 mmol/L and 0.5-1.1 mol/L, respectively, we deduced that the rate of monomer consumption follows the relation R$\_$p/=k[K$_2$S$_2$O$\_$8/]$\^$0.5/ [Μ]$\^$1.35${\pm}$0.10/. In addition, we obtained activation parameters from an evaluation of the kinetic data.
The cure properties of self-extinguishing epoxy resin systems with different charge transfer type latent catalysts were investigated, which are composed of YX4000H as a biphenyl epoxy resin, MEH-7800SS as a hardener, and charge transfer type latent catalysts. We designed and used five kinds of charge transfer type latent catalyst and compared to epoxy resin systems with Triphenylphosphine-Benzoquinone(TPP-BQ) as reference system. The cure kinetics of these systems were analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry with an isothermal approach, the kinetic parameters of all systems were reported in generalized kinetic equations with diffusion effects. The epoxy resin systems with Triphenylphosphine-Quinhydrone(TPP-QH), Triphenylphosphine-Benzanthrone(TPP-BT) and Triphenylphosphine-Anthrone(TPP-AT) as a charge transfer type latent catalyst showed a cure conversion rate of equal or higher rate than those with TPP-BQ. These systems with TPP-QH and Triphenylphosphine-Tetracyanoethylene(TPP-TCE) showed a critical cure reaction conversion of equal or higher conversion than those with TPP-BQ. The increases of cure conversion rates could be explained by the decrease of the activation energy of these epoxy resin systems. It can be considered that the increases of critical cure reaction conversion would be dependent on the crystallinity of the biphenyl epoxy resin systems.
To find heavy metal-specific effects on the photosynthetic apparatus of higher plants, we investigated effects of $CuCl_2$, HgCl_2$ and $ZnCl_2$ on electron transport activity and chlorophyll fluorescence induction kinetics of chloroplasts isolated from barley seedlings. Effects on some related processes such as germination, growth and photosynthetic pigments of the test plants were also studied. Germination and growth rate were inhibited in a concentration-dependent manner by these metals. Mercury was shown to be the most potent inhibitor of germination, growth and biosynthesis of photosynthetic pigments of barley plants. In the inhibition of electron transport activity, quantum yield of PS II, and chlorophyll fluorescence induction kinetics of chloroplasts isolated from barley seedlings, mercury chloride showed more pronounced effects than other two metals. Contrary to the effects of other two metals, mercury chloride increased variable fluorescence significantly and abolished qE in the fluorescence induction kinetics from broken chloroplasts of barley seedlings. This increase in variable fluorescence is due to the inhibition of the electron transport chain after PS ll and the following dark reactions. The inhibition of qE could be attributed to the interruption of pH formation and do-epoxidation of violaxathin to zeaxanthin in thylakoids by mercury. This unique effect of mercury on chlorophyll fluorescence induction pattern could be used as a good indicator for testing the presence and/or the concentration of mercury in the samples contaminated with heavy metals.
Applicability of crystallization kinetics on thermal analysis was investigated for PbO-TiO2-B2O3-BaO glass systems together with theoretical background of kinetics and electron microscopic observations on nu-cleation and crystallization. Kissinger equation can be used on DTA under the assumption that the nucleus density is fixed during DTA runs. Crystallization mechanism affected on the activation energy Ek obtained from powder samples which is used for domination of surface crystallization. Avrami parameter n that was obtained from Ozawa equation represented closely the crystallization mechanisms observed by an electron microscope. The modified Kissinger equation takes into account crystallization mechanism thereby pro-ducing the true activation energy of crystallization.

Batch sorption experiments were carried out for the removal of metylene blue from its aqueous solution using $H_3PO_4$ activated Acacia arabica carbon (AAC). The prepared activated carbon was characterized and was found as an effective adsorbent material. The operating variables studied were initial metylene blue concentration, AAC concentration and solution pH. AAC activated carbon posses a maximum sorption capacity for the range of initial dye concentrations studied (60~100 mg $L^{-1}$). The sorption kinetics were analyzed using reversible first order kinetics, second order, reversible first order, pseudo-first order, and pseudo-second order model. The sorption data tend to fit very well in pseudo-second order model for the entire sorption time. The average pseudo-second order rate constant, $K_{II}$ and regression coefficient value were determined to be 0.0174 mg $g^{-1}$$min^{-1}$ and 0.9977. The biosorption process also fit well to reversible I order kinetics with a regression coefficient of 0.9878.
It has long been known that the oxidation kinetics of Zr-based alloys undergoes a crossover from parabolic to cubic in the pretransition period (before breakaway of the oxide scale). This kinetic crossover, however, is not fully understood yet. We have earlier proposed a model for the Zr-oxidation kinetics, in a closed form for the first time, by taking into account a compressive strain energy gradient as a diffusional driving force in addition to a chemical potential gradient of component oxygen across the ZrO$_2$ scale upon Zr [J. Nucl. Mater., 299 (2001) 235]. In this paper, we experimentally reconfirm the validity of the proposed model by using the thermogravimetric data on mass gain of Zr in a plate and wire form, respectively, in air atmosphere at different temperatures in the range of 500$^{\circ}$ to 800$^{\circ}C$, and subsequently report on the numerical values for oxygen chemical diffusivity and strain energy gradient across the oxide scale.
An extensive investigation was carried out to describe the kinetics of cell growth, substrate consumption, and product formation in the batch fermentation using starch as substrate. Evaluation of intrinsic kinetic parameters was carried out using a best-fit unstructured model. A nonlinear regression technique was applied for computational purpose. The Andrew's model showed a comparatively better $R^2$ value among all tested models. The values of specific growth rate (${\mu}_{max}$), saturation constant ($K_S$), inhibition constant ($K_I$), and $Y_{X/S}$ were found to be 0.109 $h^{-1}$, 11.1 g/l, 0.012 g/l, and 1.003, respectively. The Leudeking-Piret model was used to study the product formation kinetics and the process was found to be growth-associated. The growth-associated constant (${\alpha}$) for protease production was sensitive to substrate concentration. Its value was fairly constant up to a substrate concentration of 30.8 g/l, and then decreased.
