Met-tower Shading Correction Program KIER-$ShadeFree^{TM}$ (풍황탑 차폐영향 보정 프로그램 KIER-$ShadeFree^{TM}$)

  • 풍력자원평가를 위해 풍력단지 개발대상지의 국지풍황 대표지점에 설치하는 풍황탑(met-tower 또는 풍황마스트; met-mast)은 모노폴(monopole), 삼각단면 트러스 또는 사각단면 트러스 구조를 갖는다. 풍향계 및 풍속계는 이러한 지지구조물에 의한 풍속의 교란 또는 차폐영향을 최소화하기 위하여 긴 붐(boom)의 끝단에 설치되지만 계측기가 풍황탑의 직후방 후류영역에 놓이게 될 경우 차폐영향을 완전히 피하기는 어렵다. 저자들의 선행연구에 따르면 풍황탑 차폐영향은 평균풍력밀도의 경우 2.5% 이상의 오차를 유발할 수 있으므로 풍력자원평가 시 필히 고려되어야 할 불확도 요인인 것이다. 이에 한국에너지기술연구원에서는 풍황탑 주위의 대기유동장을 전산유동해석을 이용하여 차폐영향의 정도를 정량적으로 수치모사함으로써 이를 보정하는 기술을 개발한 바 있다(현재 특허심사 중). KIER-$ShadeFree^{TM}$는 이 특허기술을 프로그램화 한 것으로, 시범적으로 다수의 풍황탑 풍력자원 측정자료에 적용하여 상당한 보정효과에 의한 풍력자원평가의 정확도 향상효과를 볼 수 있었다.

  • LIDAR는 레이저를 대기에 송출하여 미세먼지의 이동에 의한 도플러 위상차를 검출함으로써 3차원 풍속벡터를 측정하는 원격탐사 장비로, 한국에너지기술연구원은 국내최초로 WindCube LIDAR를 도입하여 운영 중에 있다. LIDAR의 장점은 이동성, 설치의 편리성 외에도 현재까지 풍황탑이 모든 범위를 측정하지 못한 풍력발전기 블레이드 회전면 최고 높이인 지면 150m 까지의 풍속분포를 상세하게 측정할 수 있다는 특장점이 있다. WindCube LIDAR는 총 10개의 측정 고도를 설정할 수 있으며 1Hz로 원시자료를 획득하여 10분 평균자료로 저장한다. 이러한 측정자료를 통하여 기존 기상탑에서 불가능하였던 풍속분포의 정확한 이해와 난류특성의 파악이 가능하게 되었으나 반대급부로 급증한 측정자료의 정리와 분석에 많은 시간과 노력이 필요하게 되었다. 이에 한국에너지기술연구원에서는 LIDAR 측정자료의 가공 및 분석에 편리성을 제공하기 위해 KIER-$LidarWind^{TM}$ 프로그램을 개발하였으며, 2차원 등치선도 및 3차원 풍속분포 그래프를 시각함으로써 입체적인 가공 및 분석이 가능하도록 하였다.

  • Substantially improved methods for the preparation of europium-doped yttrium oxide red phosphor with the inclusion of alkali metal halides having a general formula $(Y_{1-x}Eu_x)_2O_3$:MX where 0.025${\leq}$x${\leq}$0.2 and MX is alkali halide in the mole ratio 0.025 to 0.6, more preferably between 0.05 to 0.2 mole, are reported. Another series of the red phosphor materials with general formula $(Y_{1-x-y}Gd_xEu_y)_2O_3$:MX where 0.05${\leq}$x${\leq}$0.40 and 0.025${\leq}$y${\leq}$0.20 and MX is alkali halide in the mole ratio 0.025 to 0.5, more preferably between 0.1 to 0.2 mole, has also been presented. The inclusion of alkali halide greatly increase the luminance of the materials. The materials are very soft with fine particle size less than 100nm. The phosphorescent materials have good luminance in VUV region.

  • GSHP(Ground Source Heat Pump) has been extensively disseminated due to the recent increasing demand over new and renewable energy. However, the system reliability has been key issues and barriers to insure a better system performance as designed originally in ISO (international standard organization) standard. This paper introduces a systematic method to verify its intended design target so called as ISO performance data based commissioning technology for a water to air GSHP system. The commissioning technology starts from are to the international standard ISO performance data of a GSHP model and to compare its installed operation data and to calibrate and tune to the target optimum operation parameters. Results indicated that cooling capacity could be raised up to 76.6% from 46.6% from this proposed commissioning technology.

  • This paper proposed the calculation method of the avoided cost for natural gas and district heating DSM programs. And the proposed method is applied to real DSM programs. The avoided cost for natural gas consists of commodity avoided cost, supply equipment avoided cost, storage equipment avoided cost, and electric power avoided cost. In case of the district heating, avoided cost consists of heat generation equipment avoided cost, heat energy avoided cost, environment avoided cost, and electric power avoided cost. This method can be used to evaluate the benefit of DSM programs quantitatively in cost. Therefore, this method can contribute to make the cost-effectiveness evaluation system and to operate the DSM programs for natural gas and district heating effectively.

  • Running low of fossil fuel energy forces the industry to find a new way to overcome this energy crisis. One of the solutions is using the unlimited and everlasting energy sources like wind, sun, water, and so on. Especially, sun energy becomes the hottest issue in recent years because of its merit in installation, operation and abundant material source of silicon. In 2008, about 5.5GW photovoltaic (PV) system has been installed all around world. Many professional renewable energy organizations expect that the total PV system installation will be 30GW. To sustain the long-term stability of the PV system, several institutes perform the test based on IEC standards like IEC 61215 for silicon crystalline PV module and IEC 61646 for thin film PV module. Also in South Korea, Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER) performs the certificate test according to IEC 61215 standards. In this paper, we want to summarize and inform the 3 years‘ test results of domestic and foreign PV modules. The specific and technical explanation will be shown in the following paper in detail.

  • The coal gasification process of a slurry feed type, entrained-flow coal gasifier was numerically predicted in this paper. By divding the complicated coal gasification process into several simplified stages suh as slurry evaporation, coal devolitilisation and two-phase reactions coupled with turbulent flow and two-phase heat transfer, a comprehensive numerical model was constructed to simulate the coal gasification process. The k-$\varepsilon$turbulence model was used for the gas phase flow while the Random-trajectory model was applied to describe the behavior of the coal slurry particles. The unreacted-core shrinking model and modified Eddy Break-Up(EBU) model were used to simulate the heterogeneous and homogeneous reactions, respectively. The simulation results obtained the detailed informations about the flow field, temperature inside the gasifier. Meanwhile, the simulation results were compared with the experimental data as function of $O_2$/coal ratio. It illustrated that the calculated carbon conversions agreed with the measured ones and that the measurd quality of the atngas was better than the calculated one when the $O_2$/coal ratio increases. The result was related with the total heat loss through the gasifier and uncertain kinetics for the heterogeneous reactions.

  • The Developing & Producing of Eco-Friendly vehicle have been more incremented, as People appreciate the importance of Earth Environment Conservation. The needs of Neighborhood Electric Vehicle(NEV) that suits Current people's short drive distance is incremented. In this Paper, we define Neighborhood Electric Vehicle through out National Highway Traffic Safety Administration of United States of America's regulation and explain motor and battery of primary constituents of that. We used MATLAB and ADVISOR 200 programs for Simulation, and propsed NEV's Model that tow people can be got in. In this Model, the battery is Lead-acid battery(72V, 85Ah) and the motor is 8kW permanent magnet synchronous motor(PM motor). We compared change of driving range of NEV through out non-changing speed Driving(10km/h, 20km/h, 30km/h, 40km/h) and Manhattan driving schedule.

Synthesis and characterization of ZnS:Mn,Cl phosphor by combustion method

  • The preparation of ZnS:Mn,Cl phosphor has been carried out by combustion method. Manganese nitrate was decomposed with an organic fuel at $500^{\circ}C$ to give fine sized crystallites in presence of alkali metal halides at a lower temperature than the conventional synthesis. The phosphors thus obtained were then heated at 900 to $1200^{\circ}C$ in an inert atmosphere, for 3hours to get better luminescent properties. The phosphors were prepared at different temperatures and at different doping concentrations of manganese to determine the optimal conditions for synthesizing the phosphors with superior optical properties. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) investigations have been carried out to observe the particle morphology and the grain size. Powder X-ray diffraction(XRD) was also performed to characterize the phosphors.

Direct Synthesis of Dimethyl Ether From Syngas in Slurry Phase Reactor (액상 슬러리 반응기에서 합성가스로부터 DME 직접 제조)

  • DME(Dimethyl Ether) was directly produced from the synthesis gas using the slurry phase reactor. The catalyst for DME production prepared two types (A type; Cu:Zn:Al=57:33:10, B type; Cu:Zn:Al=40:45:15, molar ratio). It was evaluated for the effect of the reaction medium oil using the small size slurry phase reactor. DME production yield and the methanol selectivity decreased in the order: n-hexadecane oil> mineral oil> therminol oil. The long-term test of DME production was carried out using A and B type catalyst, and n-hexadecane oil and mineral oil, respectively. It was confirmed that the use of A type for the catalyst and n-hexadecane for the reaction medium oil was very useful for the viewpoint of the DME production form the synthesis gas.
